Yea. I think the choir boy/faith based players only stuff has to stop. Time to bring in some mean dudes… even if they do have a history.

It’s a cult. They can’t stop. Terry will have to clean house next year.

You keep posting the same ***** if you think that McDermott is going anywhere, you’re insane he’s not going to fire a winning coach

This isn’t madden

It's been his team and his Defense all along.  Why is this some sort of revelation?  His Defenses in Carolina were very nasty with a bully mentality, so why was this not the way of things from the get go?!?!  The problem wasn't with Frazier, the problem rests with Sean.  You have to look under the hood to "solve the problem in the engine"

So I just wanna point out what you said just makes no sense

You admit that McDermott has had defenses that had bully mentality yet you think that McDermitt is to blame that McDermott doesn’t have a defense that has a big bully mentality

Which is it?

When McDermott called plays here and there the defense got more aggressive, at least from what I recall.

IMO McDermott is a quality defensive mind, so I'm excited to see him take on the play calling and a more active role in the defense.

If you're going to have a defensive coach let's play to his strengths.

It’s what got him his job here in Buffalo. He was very good for the Panthers.

Maybe him taking over the defense of playcalling is what we need

I mean, I would get it why he would not want to do that being a head coach is about delegating authority. You’re the overseer of everything but you’ve got an offensive and defensive coordinator to manage their parts of the game and then you oversee them kind of like the dealer is overseen by the pit boss and the pit boss is over seed by the pit manager and the pit manager is over seed by then casino manager

But

We are in a situation where we have gotten very close for a few years now, but not been able to seal the deal. I am sure McDermott is feeling the heat a little bit of that.

Yes ... the Coach sets the tone and structure for the whole operation.  He is the "CEO" and everything is a reflection of his direction.  That's why it's so maddening to me with him always saying ... we have to "trust the process" .. or "we have to learn" etc.  It's why we're 6 years into his time and are spinning our wheels up to a certain point.  When other teams such as Philly, with a 2nd year head coach, just build a team that goes and makes it to the Super Bowl ... or a team like the 49ers who would just kick the living crap out of us.  They don't "learn" ... they just build teams that are nasty and go out and beat you in the face (with less talented QB's than we have).  I think it was (either) Michael Robinson or Ladanien Tomlinson on NFL Network who said it best ... Buffalo isn't going to get there until they learn how to get out of their own way mentally.  This is a reflection of McD and his brand of leadership

You don’t have to trust the process. Hell you don’t even have  to watch the games or come on here w these tabloid hot takes. Just take this regime off. You can come back when the team is 8-9 every year but w a solid coach with better one liners that get you pumped up!

Pitchforks and knives will be out in full force if the Bills draft any defensive player in the 1st round. Besides I am more interested in who Beane (the guy who has the final say with the draft per TP) is going to draft.

I'm with you in prioritizing the offense - particularly the OL.

But if they pick the Second Coming of Bruce Smith in the 1st round, I'm leaving my pitchfork in the closet.  If Beane thinks he has a shot at a generational talent, he's gotta take his shot regardless of need.

I think it was the ucl injury.  Our O will be fine , injuries aside.

But I love this mentality from McD. He's evolving

Hasn’t it been established that the UCL injury had something to do with this some thing about arm angles, and being able to short pass

you guys say cause it was because of a USL that things changed. We do not know when just was good enough to throw those throws right? I mean he has a mean golf swing even though no probowl yes?  Till a HC or the team DR confirms that Theory? and that is all it is, is a theory yes? nothing has been proven or confirmed yes? so yea... I want to hear from the HC, The DR or from JA himself before we come to a random dr's conclusions.

You mean because our QB injured his elbow and couldn't accurately make those throws any longer with additional strain on an injured elbow?  What a coincidence.

hind sight is 20/20 but maybe should have forced Josh to sit for 2-3 games. he will never take himself out and we lost 2 of the games with him in immediately after the injury anyways

I would love to see more disguised blitzes combined with fake blitzes and dropping extra players into coverage. Anything to break up the boring monotony that we’ve seen over the last 3-4 years. We have two great corners in TreDavious and Kaiir, we can afford to play man and to mix things up every here and there.

Frazier was fired. That signals that we’re entering the last year for this regime.

The defense always seemed to play much better the times McDermott took over playcalling. I would not be opposed to McDermott taking that on himself next season. He seems to understand the ebb and flow of the game better and knows when to call certain plays or when to bring pressure.

I think they have too much pride to make that excuse.  It's one helluva coincidence that we saw a dominant O devolve after the injury. It was night and day basically.  We were still very good but prior we were the best.

Diggs publicly said the o changed after week 9, the week it happened,  that's probably the closest we'll come to a definitive answer.

As well as Independent Dr's said that injury likely effected the short/intermediate pass game.  Josh has only admitted he had to "slightly" change his throwing motion.

When there's smoke there's fire. My guess is Drs told Buf that rest wouldn't heal it up for months so they just stuck with him. I believe that's why nothing was done on the offensive staff. I'm sure OBD believes we'll look closer to the 1st half on o than the second half

He’s took over playcalling once in 6 years

once

not saying McDermott won’t be better…. But it wasn’t a thing that happened every quarter of the season lol

Yup. Everyone is always exaggerating on that. The defense wasn’t all that better either and reverted back to suck the following week.

I agree....we desperately need OL then WR in that order.  But knowing Seanie he'll pick Nolan (4.39) Smith and ask him to put on 40 lbs to turn him into Bruce.

no need to disrespect the man just because he hasn't met expectations, yet. he deserves a lot of respect for bringing back a reason to watch on sunday. granted, so far, failed in the most crucial time, playoffs, but has turned the team around and made them competitive and fun to watch. who knows, may still get them over the hump? this season will be telling and although like you and most all bills fans, including myself, have lived through some disappointments but no need to disrespect his name.

17 years of basically a shitshow on sunday, to winning seasons, winning the division and playoffs. Sean McDermott is a big part of that.

Twice at least. And those were only the times we knew about.

I want a nastier edge to our OL too. I remember Clowney roughing up Tyrod one time after the whist'e and Richie just threw him like a rag doll. I know he messed up, but I still miss that about him. You want that on both sides of the ball.
