Elite at what?

Don’t know. I always thought he had a decent bull rush. And he was Surprisingly decent at stopping the run early on. But he could not and I don’t think ever will be an immediate win as a rusher / has no moves or counters. And if he’s the top End (Von not there) he gets completely erased by other team.

I always thought it was weird that all beane could say about him after the pick “he just made plays , couldn’t put my finger on it, he’s long” ok eye roll.

then you watch his highlights and he’s just diving at college qbs after play breaks down 4+ seconds

I'll cut Rousseau some slack. His ceiling was always going to come in year 3. He took off an entire year from football and only started 15 games in college. It is not a surprise that he hit the wall late in his sophomore season. Teams can double/chip him with Von out of the picture. He was forced into too many snaps because of that injury. I still see Rousseau as a foundational piece of this defense. He and Milano are the only two that I see as 100% long-term starters here.

Funny how you didn’t mention that until after year 2.

Lots of Groot talk. But the amount of draft and cap capital spent on the DL is insane. The bill is now due.

AJE, Harrison Philips, Basham, Rousseau, Oliver. All picked in the top 100.

I was as psyched as anybody for the Von signing. But that also meant we were paying top 5 money for another player who was supposed to get after the QB after spend 6 top 100 picks on them with no results.

And who knows what von will be next year.. dude is old and coming off he’s second née injury. And probably want be ready until the end of next year. So yea that contract isn’t looking so good right now. Buffalo brought him end to win it this year,

Funny thing…come playoff time he was MIA, but as long as some fancy stat says he is great value, that is all that matters.  Who cares if the eye test says otherwise.

I find it odd that Spotrac only uses the contract for the cost side of the value equation. They should include draft capital gains for players on their rookie deals.

Rousseau showed some real talent this season. His performance was much better when Miller lined up opposite him. I think he will be a real force next season. He was limited by a slippery track against the Bengals. I think he could benefit by getting bigger and stronger. He should work on that in the off-season.

The kid can be better , he can add some different pass rush moves to his bag. Spends, bends, more violent hands, use the OLINE's leverage, bull rushing and speed rush.

You can add a more whole bunch of different moves, but it doesn’t mean anything unless you can dominate your man by using them.   What I am saying….easier said than done.
