We won against a terrible team.

Most of our problems are still out there. Playing like this come playoff time against a good team = golf time.

Hopefully this isn’t the team we field come playoff time. White , Edmunds, Elam and Rousseau will be make us better. I still want to give the front 6 or 7 along with Poyer some credit. They played tough after a tough star where the Browns did anything they wanted.

I know the defense is missing some key pieces in the secondary, but Sheesh they can’t cover anyone! Browns had guys running free in the secondary all game when they weren’t covered they were making catches over our corners who for same strange reason don’t know how to get their heads around.

What happened to the DL getting home with 4?

Shot their wad in Kansas City.

Doesnt help that they are missing Hyde, Edmunds, Elam, Rousseau, a 100% Poyer and Epenesa from that game and White overall.

did I miss anybody?

Were they hurt during the game? They definitely played. I don’t remember to be honest.

Yeah they both didn't play against the Vikings, so I assume so.

I looked it up, Elam was injured in the 3rd quarter. Rousseau was injured after "13" snaps whenever that was.

"Turning point game"?  The D was crappy once again.

I'm not sure why isn't taboo for the CBs to actually looks back for the ball.

Everybody knows our existing secondary except for Poyer, cannot cover my grandmother. They either grab or never get their head around. The “turning point” was more about taking charge of a game after being dominated. The offense showed a running attack. Josh made good decisions and the Frazier played more aggressively with pressure packages. Haven’t seen that for a long time.

Bills Dbs have to get better at separating the receiver from the ball and/or knocking it down. Their coverage seems to be very slack this year which would be tolerable if they could break it up once the receiver has touched it but they dont seem to do that. Best play today was by Poyer doing that but the rest dont seem to have the timing or the forearm strength. Ive given up on these backups ball hawking as they dont turn to the ball with regularity! So many issues (including today) could have been avoided with some more aggressive breakups. We desperately need Trey back!

I think we were missing 2 starters on defense. Milano and Poyer. Definitely key players.

Patriots were without Barmore, who is a very good player, and still absolutely shut the Jets down.

Today? Milano and Poyer played.

We are down 3 of our 4 starting DBs (I get it you could argue about CB2 but to me it is pretty clear who that should be), our MLB and a starting defensive end.

I disagree. It’s the scheme. Yes missing starters hurts but really this D even last year wasn’t good regardless of the stats.

Totally disagree.

I thought they played ok. I’ve just never seen so many plays were the db was right there and just one incredible throw and catch after another.
At least four today and then two last week.
I get playing hands and finding the ball but geez these catch probabilities are ridiculously low and they just keep happening. Absolutely unreal at this point.

Football 101.

Great coverage downfield allows for longer holding of the ball by the QB.  Longer holding of the ball by the QB increase chances of sacks and rushed passes.

Not so good coverage downfield allows average or poor QB’s to be better than they are.

Our defensive backfield is decimated and on IR or inactive.  Nuff said.

After a week not looking at the board, this was the first thread I saw and yes they have not been good.  Think I started one a while ago and was told how wrong I was.  They are hard to watch.  Every QB torches them (though points may not always be scored) and allowing everyone to look good.

They make some big plays plays & stops, but that masks that overall they've been weak and cost them the Minnesota & NYJ games.

DBs giving too many big plays.

You mean 2nd, 3rd string DB’s?  Guys elevated off the practice squad??

Those DB’s?

And hunt 5 for 32.

Needed to get up on points so they gave up the run and depended on Brissett’s arm.

They didn't play great vs the Jets but then they still held them to 20. On the road. You do that you have to win the game.

This ain’t your momma’s NFL. The expectation can’t be 2000 Ravens posting shut outs vs “the defense isn’t that good.”
