It won't be Baltimore as they've been one of the best franchises at managing the cap/personnel issues. Not to mention Harbaugh is a smart enough coach that knows that you can change a system to suit the QB as he did when went from Flacco to Lamar. The question is do they franchise him a few years to keep him around or just franchise him this offseason and deal him asap.

Josh could’ve easily held out for more money.

The Bills deal was very fair.  They slotted him in right behind Mahomes.

Fair, right now, means the QB is leaving money on the table.

Josh was next.  Next top tier QB can easily make the case to the team that they are only signing a contract that makes them highest paid.

Josh did not do that.

Lets see how Burrow and Herbert play out, but most put Allen and Mahomes at a tier above them.  That probably doesn’t matter because they’re next.  They will get paid more than Allen and Mahomes.

Lamar is a tier below Burrow and Herbert.  Good luck to whoever pays him top tier money…

Again, dealing him won't be an easy thing if he's demanding a fully guaranteed contract for $50M/year.

what wideouts?

His rookie year he had John Brown and Michael Crabtree.  Since then they've used high draft picks on Marquise Brown, who is a very good player and Rashod Bateman who has been hurt.   He's had guys.   Its the chicken and the egg.  Are all the wideouts horrible or does the QB just not utilize them?

Guy is a fantastic athlete, and is a top 15 QB in the league.  But he does nothing for his wideouts.

The argument is so overblown.

Lamar has no help!!!

First off, why are elite TE’s never considered “help”.  This comes up with Mahomes/Kelce sometimes.

Andrews is a top 5 playmaking TE.

As you point out, they’ve used draft capital on WR’s.

Josh Allen has Diggs, Patrick Mahomes has Kelce, Lamar Jackson has Andrews … all have an elite receiving option.

Allen and Mahomes can win with supporting cast guys like Davis, Beasley,  McKenzie, Hardman, Juju, MVS etc..

Why is it only the supporting cast receivers in Baltimore that seem to be the problem.. not the QB.

It’s frustrated me all year with Mahomes. If you have the best receiving TE in football you have the greatest offensive weapon in the NFL. Better than any WR.

Anyone who pays this guy a guaranteed contract is going to regret it

agreed, it's like Arizona backing themselves into a corner.

Baltimore could get by with Carr, Jimmy G (even though he never seems to be available either) for a year or 2: probably win more in  a 'standard' offense or tank one year and draft a QB high and start over.

hire slow-fire fast: but no one wants to look bad saying they chose the wrong guy so they double down on a stroonz

Jackson should leave.

I completely think it's very dumb that he doesn't have an agent, but the Ravens are not putting him in a position to show that he can be more than a gimmick runner.  The Ravens WR core is arguably the worst in the league.

Other players in the league has represented themselves and done quite well. Bobby Wagner, Russell Okung, Laramy (gas mask) Tunsil. Lamar knows his worth. Too bad Baltimore doesn't

Yeah but none of them asked for a guaranteed contract.  He wasn't worth one before (no one is) and after missing so many games the past 2 seasons, he certainly isn't now.

@Doc, do Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray have guarantees? Are they better than Lamar? As far as I'm concerned, Lamar has earned his money already. League MVP with weapons equivalent to what Justin Fields is working with currently. Lamar has had ONE bonafide weapon since he entered the league, Mark Andrews. Greg Roman as OC. The Ravens organization has failed this guy in every way. Pay the man

They will franchise him and he will hold out but what can you do. You can either say you refuse to play and actually sit out games or you can take a pretty decent increase in salary to play on a yearly basis. That 150 mil guarantee out of the 250 will start to look pretty good if Lamar is playing year to year making less than 30 per

Those 2 examples blew up in those teams faces. If anything it proves what not to do going forward rather than be the standard

Last point on Lamar: when you represent yourself you have a dummy for an agent!

They have guarantees sure, just not a fully guaranteed contract.  And giving him one won't help them get the pieces he/they need.

look, everyone already understands he's not a great passer, but those guys are bums. Give a legit top 5 WR and he'll look better.  John Brown is a jag journeyman.  Crabtree was a journeyman who bounced around on 3 teams his last 3 years (including Ravens).  Both of these guys had 2 1000+ yard seasons each in a total of 20 seasons.

Hurts is no natural great passer, yet he's got 2 top WRs and they get nearly every target (281 combined!).   Compare that to his output (and to whom) in 2021.  Adding AJ Brown was huge for this guy.   Look at Tua with the addition of Hill.  He goes from "weak armed QB" to "MVP candidate".

You realize he was offered more money than Murray and turned it down? He wants a FULLY guaranteed contract like Watson. That's not happening. The browns are idiots and so is Lamar.
