The private investigators have multiple witnesses that say she was telling people she was 18...according to his lawyer.

It doesn’t matter if she was saying she was 40. The report says she was 17 and a minor and if he admitted having sex with her then he is done let alone rape…. He is done if true.

What if he didn’t know? She shows up drunk to his college party, it’s not a stretch that he assumed she was college age.

Doesn’t matter.

If that’s true, this case is dropped

Nope, it doesn’t matter.

Current thought process-

- the bills didn’t know at time of draft

- they learned of the pending civil lawsuit 7/30

- they cut Haack this week because per McDermott it was “time to go down to one punter” but said araiza still needed to earn the spot

- they knew they didn’t want Haack regardless

- they believe he’s innocent based on the info they have  but also reserve the right to cut him as more comes out and will sign someone else if needed. But they knew for sure they didn’t want Haack

Twitter and Bills Mafia is really starting to gross me out

If my workplace found I’d been accused of being part of a gang rape of a 17 year 8 months prior to getting hired out of college, and all they knew was that I admitted to sex and told her she needed to check for STDs because I had chlamydia, and there was physical evidence of some sort of violence l, I’d be out of a job.

The only entity that has to fully care about Innocent until proven is the Justice System and any other public entities.

Private organizations are well within their rights to look at the circumstantial evidence they have at hand, and make their own decision on whether or not it’s worth it go forward with that employee- I see almost no upside here for the Bills keeping Araiza.

Finally, the lack of empathy for women is astounding. Why don’t women speak up? Just look at the comment warriors on Twitter and that’s all the answer you’ll need. Women who speak up get destroyed

My take based on everything thus far:

- Araiza probably had oral sex with the plaintiff based on the phone call and the way his attorney behaved in that TV interview.  What's much less clear is whether Araiza knew she was under age or not.

- The gang rape seems like a he said/she said.  My guess is we'll probably never know one way or the other, although it's possible one side or the other might have credible witnesses that tip the scales in either direction.

- I agree with Araiza's attorney that it is odd that the civil lawsuit came before the DA decided to file criminal charges.

- Those texts between the attorneys read exactly like a shakedown and a money grab... and if I am on that civil jury, it tips the preponderance of the evidence scale pretty heavily in Araiza's favor.

I think the likeliest source of "trouble" for him is the statutory rape charge, but if the DA's office thinks their case is weak with regards to whether he knew she was underage... then they might fail to file charges.

This is my guess on why the Bills are sticking with him... I don't think any of it sticks.

Looking at this a little bit more I’m kinda in agreement with you. If there are witnesses saying what the attorney said that she was telling people she was in college and 18 and he had oral with her then he did nothing wrong except being stupid.
it does sound like the other guys might have been the people doing really bad things and Matt is getting thrown in with it because he’s famous.

Depends how they handle it - they could decide to treat it as a misdemeanour rather than a felony. From what I read, he was 21 and she was 17. They usually treat anyone where the age gap is under 16/over 21 as a felony so it may be treated as a misdemeanour. If so, he won’t be done, notwithstanding the other allegations.

it was some room in his residence. I assume he had housemates so who knows.

Nope - his attorney said misinformation has been floating and the place of the party WAS NOT Araiza's house. It's all in his TV interview

I'll bet good money that they didn't find his DNA.

The what was the evidence they submitted to the DA? And why submit evidence to the DA if the police don’t believe a crime was admitted?

Again you start with the assumption that this young person is lying

very well could be true - just going off the plaintiff’s complaint as that’s the only thing down on paper at this point.

The victim shaming doesn’t surprise me though people cult follow NFL teams.

Araiza is innocent until proven guilty but the girl who is bringing forward the lawsuit is guilty of lying extortion blackmail etc. etc.

The accusation in the law suit is that Araiza dropped a girl off to a gang rape.  So I guess I agree with you. I hope I never make that mistake….The world is full of whoopsies.

This isn't the only time I've read this misinterpreted in this thread

The civil suit specifically accuses Ariza of bringing her AND participating in the gang rape. In addition to two others by name, there are 20 other unknowns that are included in this civil lawsuit. (I'm not a lawyer, but I am guessing that's legalese for covering all of the bases).

There's a lot to unpack here no doubt.

Yes, he actually does... Read the constitution sometime.  We all have the inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

If being on a football team fulfills his pursuit of happiness, it is his inalienable right to play football.

Is this an "Animal House" spoof?  You might want to re-read the Constitution.

I never said she wasn't raped by anyone. I'm going by the Bills sticking with him when they easily could have dumped him.

You need to know the age of someone you are sticking your dick into. Assumptions are risky.

At what point does that excuse end? Well, she had big breasts and looked 18. I had no idea she was 13!

Young girls lie to impress older males.

The story is out there now and it’s too big.  Araiza will never survive this. And the Bills won’t win or lose a Super Bowl based on how their punter does.
