What is your favorite football related phrase?

Recommended Posts

Gary Lineker:

"Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win."

Well, this is probably referring to the wrong "football".

"If you keep cutting your own throat, eventually you run out of blood." -- Fred Smerlas

I call BS on this. Smerlas was not smart enough to come up with something as witty as this. A google search of the quote, even allowing for modifications, did not give any result closely resembling this quote.

I found myself saying "Act like you have been there before" this morning.  Was not even in the context of football but it fit the situation.

It's one of the better phrases I think.  I know it is associated with Barry Sanders just handing the ball to the ref after a TD.  Not sure if it predated him or not.

What are some of your favorite phrases?

PS Yes this is a thread to talk about anything but more mock drafts....

“You over officious jerk.”

I bet he can still bring something to the table. We should kick the tires and bring him in on an incentive laden deal to see if he has anything left in the tank.
