The QB contract inflation continues...

Here's a blurb about Stafford that mentions Cousins;

Here's a link to an article about the Cousin's negotiations;

It is expected to be a 3-4 year deal for Stafford.  Makes Josh's 6 year extension at an average of  $42 million a year look better every day.  I think this is going to be a recurring theme as more and more QBs take their turn at the NFL QB money trough.

Yep.........pay them!

The more teams spend on QB's the cheaper the pickings will be at other positions in UFA over the course of JA's prime.

and as new TV deals and cap increases. This is not surprising or shocking. Yes in a couple of years Allen's contract will look better....until he asks for a new one.

I’m glad we signed Josh early, thereby saving serious money. I know how crazy that sounds given the size of his deal, but it’s true. Now, let’s do the same with Diggs.

These guys who think that just because they are NEXT means they should get the MOST, might just be correct to an insane degree. I’ll take Josh over these guys all day long.

For sure! These guys have to make it while they can

Stafford is the highest paid player in NFL history. He was one of the lucky QBs to get the big rookie contract before the new CBA capped rookie wages  in 2011.  He has made $239 million so far.  Now he is queued up to make another $100+.

Not bad work if you can get it.

The Vikes have to be more focused on replacing cousins than extending him, right? They got just as far with case Keenum. Now that the GM is gone who signed him, time to admit the L and rebuild at QB. Cousins is what he is, they will be stuck in neutral if they pay him again. They really wanted fields last year but got jumped in the draft and ended up with the kid from TAMU in the 3rd. I expect they will take another shot at QB this year.
