I'm a golf course superintendent in Vermont.  I imagine they will do exactly what the Packers did.  It will be a heated sand base that will be fiber threads all through it to keep the sand layer together.  They will have also have larger grow lights that help with the lack of sun hours during the winter months.  It will be a full time job to keep that grass looking great.  Would love to be part of that team.

I don't know the technicalities, but I can only assume it WOULD be a full time job to keep grass growing in Orchard Park, NY, especially around this time of year.

🤣

I have to assume grass is much better for the health of everyone playing, so I support the idea, even if it turns into a dirt/mud pit at times.

There's some really innovative things being done in England. 10% synthetic fibers being woven into grass fields. Heating under the field with drainage to suck the water out. Grow lights so the field is lit up at night and allows the grass to grow overnight. Wind shields on the open air stadium that keeps the wind off the field...

We dont speak of England today, New or old

1.  Build dome.

2.  Install grow lights.

3.  Bills and natural grass 5 months.

4.  NYS controlled grow op 7 months.

🤔

I'm guessing you wrote that tongue-in-cheek, but it's really a great idea! Could offset some of the costs.

They keep showing nice shots of the inside of Paul Brown Stadium and it looks small and intimate compared to Rich Stadium.

Turns out it holds 65,535, so it is a bit smaller, but still pretty big.

3 tiers on the sides instead of 2.

When we toured Allegiant Stadium, they said that they asked the Cardinals what they would do differently with their rolled-in grass field.  The Cardinals said they would have raised it up 3 feet off the ground so you can get under it easily.

But a turf field and a roof would make more sense if they're worried about the turf freezing.  And I'm sure doing all that adds a lot more to the cost.

it would be easier to put radiant heating under turf than to try and grow grass in Buffalo in January with warming pipes…
