Simon
Before that final drive when they went to clock-killing mode, I think the Bills pass:run ration was close to 3 : 1. Brian Daboll really needs to recognize what kind of defense he's got complimenting him and start approaching his play-calling duties a little less tactically and a little more strategically. There's no reason your 23yr old wet-behind-the-ears QB needs to be dropping back 40 times in a game in which you haven't played from behind for a single second. I think Coach needs to trust his defense and take pressure off his OLine by calling games a bit more conservatively. 6 3
Buffalo Barbarian
Definitely need to be running more, in this game and in general. Allen is still too green to be Aaron Rodgers (who hasnt done much without a run game either)
TroutDog
I believe when Singletary comes back you’ll see more running. 7

He’s a bit afraid to overload Gore and who else does he got?

Billsfan1972
This offence still is terrible. With a good running attack & good QB'ing they need have tp start scoring more. Daboll is still not winning the coaching battle.

GreggTX
I couldn't agree more. Frank Gore was excellent and Yeldon didn't fumble. Hopefully Singletary will be 100% before the Philly game. I've been impressed what we've been able to achieve with even a backup OL at several positions. It isn't always pretty, but they can still grind out a few tough yards. We really need to run the ball more, though. If you aren't scoring, at least move the chains and eat up the clock to make it easier on your defense. Besides, you can wear down a defense like that. I was extremely pleased at how well we ran the ball at the end of the game to close it out. Gore was excellent when it counted most. Matt_In_NH
I disagree. The bills run the ball a high percentage of the time when you compare to the nfl. This offense is a modern nfl offense for the first time in line forever. They need to clean up the mistakes by the qb and they will be pretty good. 2
PromoTheRobot
This was not the defense to try to run against. They played it right.

I do think they can call more run plays - especially when it seems that the strength of their line is blocking for the run and not the pass. But I like how Daboll is giving Allen every chance to throw the football. The worst thing he could do would be to have Allen throw 15-20 passes and baby Josh. We need to see what he has as a passer and whether he’s the QB of the future. You can’t do that if you have him throw 20 passes a game. 3 minutes ago, Billsfan1972 said: This offence still is terrible. They aren’t scoring but if you look at the performance they routinely out gain opponents of offense. They aren’t scoring because of a QB who is turning the ball over a LOT. 1

Gore wasn't excellent till the last drive of the game, salvaging his yards per carry average with 10+ yard runs. The box score shows Allen with 10 carries and I can't imagine more than a couple of them were designed as runs with him coming off a concussion. Lurker
Teams are over-playing the run, daring Allen to be the difference maker. I like that Daboll has enough confidence in Josh to say, "OK, have it your way. We'll beat you through the air"

Two were sneaks, one was a designed run, and a couple were kneel downs at the end I think. We had mostly zero blocking in the run game until the last drive, which was huge. But it was mostly awful before the last three minutes.

Thanks man, didn't see the game today. 35 dropbacks looks a little better than 40.
