Browns were desperate at RG, I think they knew that. Also this is the same GM who provided the 1st pick in the 3rd rd for Tyrod Taylor the same year he was drafting a QB #1 overall.

Browns also sit at 17th on the waiver wire.  It’s unlikely that Teller would have made it to them there.

This dude got overrated the second he was drafted.  Seems like decent value but I don’t really watch oline men.  Can someone who does tell me if he was starter material?

Starter Material seems like a relative term in the NFL in general, and specifically in regards to the OL these days... That being said, I thought he showed some good stuff, but he was meh at other times- that's mostly from other takes/what little i did watch. I think this trade could indicate that they like Boetgoer better, which I find interesting and really not surprising as he has seemed solid at times (not to mention the flexibility he showed playing center)

He wasn’t going to start for this team, he would have been a decent backup, but Bates came in, played awesome, and can play all positions on the line. I’m assuming they may have tried to put him on the practice squad, but he would have almost certainly got picked up on waivers; hence, they got value for him.

Dooooommmmed!

But seriously, if they are only going to carry 8 lineman and he couldn’t play multiple positions, this is good value.   Anyone drafted after round 3 is subject to these trades.

Be more afraid for the Browns who have to start one of our cast off lineman

From the moment that draft finished I said I thought Boettger was a better player. But others liked Teller a lot more than me.

I wonder what BBB can get for Bodine?

Bodine if cut is a free agent and not subject to waivers so he is a tougher trade.

I still think a 7th or a 6th can be had from a team if there are a couple looking for a center.

Seems like a solid trade for both sides. Cleveland fills a need with a competent player at a reasonable price, while the Bills gain a pick without compromising the roster - plus they avoid getting bupkis when Teller, or whichever bubble guy they would have cut, goes free. I would also say Beane did the Browns a solid on this one (their O-line is shaky), which may one day be repaid in kind.

Classy move.
