The truth is, it was probably even less about stupidity and more about a human paperwork error. The amount of paperwork I need to provide each year for CA is embarrassing. But miss one piece of paper and the audit goes into a tailspin (at least with companies who handle our audits). The far right needs to lay off AOC for this stupid nickle/dime stuff.
