What if we hired some of those offensive guru types, paired him with a GM with a competent set up right from the start and spent money and picks on offense instead of eating the dareus hit and then signing star and using all those picks to trade up (not to mention trading for Benjamin).

Part of firing Rex was that we had a good young core that was underachieving. It’s not like McDermott inherited a dumpster fire.

Our front office is the worst front office in the history of the league and it makes the Browns look like the the Patriots*** by comparison. Just don't tell me Mahomes would be just as good in Buffalo as he is in KC. No !@#$ way.

That's the point, though. Bringing in Mahomes last year wouldn't have made any sense.

I firmly believe THIS was the plan. Cut the guys last year, but not so deep as not to affect performance and take the hit this year.

So then what? You'd have Mahomes on this team. Do you -really- think that would work out well?

Why is it a given that we had to cut dareus and sign star, for instance? Or had to trade Glenn? Coleman was self inflicted, and had we done the vet qb and rookie thing last year we wouldn’t have been in the spot of signing McCarron.

Again, just because this regime made incredibly bold moves to shed players doesn’t mean the moves were required or even right. How they then allocated resources was questionable too.

OK, I get the "Mahomes has more talent around him than any other QB in the NFL" responses. But come on: this kind of response ("Allen will be better") is just silly.

Why is it silly?  It's my opinion that Allen will be better.  I think he has more tools than Mahomes.  I think he will be better than Mahomes.

Yeah, he kinda did. A roster full of average players taking up nearly the whole cap. That's the point. The team was never good enough, but was still jammed up.

Sean McDermott has a worse record with the Bills as Rex Ryan.

Rex Ryan’s worst loss was by 16 points.

Mcdermortt and Co lose by 16+ 40% if the time.

But “trust the process” is catchy.

No I meant what I said, and you're turning into a prime example of it.

Joe. This is a bad fan:

The rest of us are not doing this and will never do this. Some like me are hoping for positive change and believe it will happen.

Sean McDermott had coached fewer games than Rex Ryan. So you're fudging numbers at the moment. We get it, you don't like him. Don't care.

Really?

Did you read the gameday thread today? It was a !@#$ing embarrassment not just to Bills fans, but to humanity as a whole.

Full of people just like that guy.

I’m not fudging any numbers. Rex with the Bills had 0 losses of 20 or more.

Mcdermott has 6 20+ point losses.

Rex Did not care and did not try. Mcdermott is trying his best. It’s concerning

Because it's based on nothing. The both have huge arms and are great athletes. They both were considered raw coming out of college, which is why they lasted until 10th/7th in their respective drafts. Mahomes has already shown something - something very good - in limited NFL action. Allen (even more limited) has shown next to nothing. In other words, there's absolutely no rational reason right now for saying that Allen will be better (not "as good as" - actually "better") than Mahomes at this point.

I agree with the above except for the bit about Rex not caring.

I also think that we would have been better off not throwing him under the bus after just one year (e.g. leak to Vic Carucci before second season that Rex would be fired if the Bills did not make the playoffs . . . .).

Other than “terry couldn’t hire the right people” is there a reason? He could’ve sat behind Tyrod a full year, been paired with a coach like McVay. I know there’s some MMQB in there but why couldn’t buffalo be a spot where a young qb gets what he needs?

Allens situation is a Cluster Funk* because the organization made it one. He could’ve had a year to sit behind a capable veteran (Tyrod) until he was ready to go. We literally had identical situations (both Wildcard playoff team members) with vets the team isn’t sold on and a young player (because the team knew they was drafting Allen) ready to groom. True the Chiefs got better skill position talent but again, that’s an area specifically neglected by our team and actively addressed by KC (paying the player WE drafted). McDermotts and Co. look in over their heads. Their FA have been a BUST and the players they’ve gotten rid of are contributing at high level for their respective teams.

How does it feel to know he threw 6tds today, and he was drafted 10th last year at a pick we traded away to Kansas City?

Feels like a dagger in the heart to me.

This kid is on FIRE.

I didn't really think about it until you brought it up. Now that you mention it, I'm probably not going to think about it either. No use wasting time on would've could've type stuff.
