Allen should start with #1's

The pass to RAY RAY McLOUD,  he is the only QB on the roster that makes that throw.  The key to me is looked confident in the pocket despite lousy line play.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy with how JA played. He just didn’t look like he should be starting yet. And I think that’s fine. He clearly has all the tools and potential, but there’s no need to rush him. Especially if McCarron continues to play as well as he did today.

lol, his first NFL pass lead the receiver out of bounds and gave him no chance.

Most NFL QBs miss 60% of their deep throws. He missed that throw by a yard. His ball placement was fine all night. Foster probably should have brought in the other two deep balls.

You can see the potential and you can also see he is NOT ready yet.

What I see is inconsistency, which is going to be his personal demon throughout his career.

The entire issue with him is whether or not he can play on a high level, consistently.  We now he can do it here and there.

He was also displaying a tendency to bail on the pocket and run which I didn't like, though I won't draw too many conclusions from it tonight b/c he was getting murdered back there.

I totally agree he should get time with the #1s.  I don't see the point in trying to evaluating him behind the 3rd string line at all!

Agree, with the 2 other qb's we have here, i'm happy to see where it goes, and let them train Allen's bad habits away.

I want him to succeed, just don't wanna see another qb with talent fail because he wasn't ready.

He had a big gain on a pass he shouldn't have thrown and got lucky, threw off back foot. His arm and luck saved him. Go Bills!

I didn't get that from him. I was pleasantly surprised with his pocket awareness so early in his career.

It would be much better for Allen to work with the #1s... but they have to work all the QBs. It's the eternal problem of all preseasons.

I'm excited man. If nothing else, Allen brings thrills and fun and likely some cringe moments to the game. But boring he won't be!

Not untrue, but he is closer than many thought.

That's the thing, he may never be ready for the NFL due to inaccuracy.  I mean, everyone knew that before the draft...

I think tonight he showed exactly what he is going to be.  Some wow plays, but mostly too inconsistent.  I know it's only one pre-season game, but if some fans are already anointing him as going to be great.

I havnt seen video yet but from the radio coverage it sounded like he was plenty accurate.  Foster did not help at all.

Bills rookie Josh Allen shows off electric arm in debut

Josh Allen took the field to a chorus of cheers and nearly sent Buffalo's New Era Field into paroxysms of excitement on his first preseason pass.

Entering Thursday night's game after halftime, the Bills' first-round draft pick promptly dropped back on a play-action pass and unfurled an effortless 60-yard bomb that led rookie receiver Robert Foster just a step out of bounds for a loud incompletion.

Allen unleashed a tantalizing sequel early in the fourth quarter, stepping up in the pocket on third-and-22 with a deep rainbow that would have gone for a 62-yard touchdown had it not been just out of the reach of Foster's outstretched hands.

I don't think he is being evaluated … I think they are deciding which of the others will be kept as JA's backup.

His receivers failed him many times yes, but he was not consistently accurate, which you absolutely have to be in the NFL.

Allen is a lot further away from the other 2 QBs then I expected. I was very impressed with Peterman and Mccarron. Allen looked like a green rookie with a lot of raw ability and very little polish. Every day at camp, people are acting like Allen is right there...he’s not. And that’s okay. I can’t see Allen playing all season. Keep the competition going with AJ and Peterman.

I was happy to see the offence moving the ball with all 3 QBs. That is something I've needed to see since the 3 point playoff game. I thoroughly enjoyed this preseason game.

I'm not hitching my wagon to it but it definitely makes me feel a lot more confident in Daboll and the season ahead. So I'm not in this debate. They are moving Allen along at a pace I agree with.

I agree.  But I am a little worried Peterman is fools.gold in the preseason.  He looks great because he makes quick throws.  Against vanilla defenses with wider windows that works well for him.  My worry is when defenses tighten up his arm strength issue will show itself again.
