This reminds me of that time Malcolm Jenkins was getting a physical in Buffalo two days before his game in Philly. I bet he is sure glad he didn't get traded!

I forgot about that. Who was it that saw him and was the doctor Luke Russert’s Mom?

It sounds ridiculous, but I’ll bite.

Bills get: Jimmy G

Reskins get: John Miller & Bills 2nd

49ers get: Cousins, Bills 1st

It’s all predicated on whether the Niners actually wanted Cousins all along. If they did and still do, it’s plausible. If they want Pizza Boy, it’s not plausible because they have the exclusive tag and a billion dollars in cap space at their disposal.

We need a sub-forum to discuss rumors from dubious sources so people can take deep dives and entertain wild scenarios.

JG has completely changed the culture in SF.

They would be beyond nuts to let him go at any cost.

Niners fans would burn that city down if they let JG go.

No they wouldn't I live here. Everyone is stoned and white wine is hard to light on fire.

There is a report on Facebook that there is a strong rumor that the Bills, 49ers and Redskins will pull off a 3 team trade. With 49ers ending up with Kurt Cousins. Bills getting Jimmy G and The Redskins getting Bills 1st round pick and a player.

This is supposedly posted by someone in the know.

Take it for what it’s worth.

49ers want Cousins,  Cousins wants 49ers, he will agree to sign a team friendly deal to make it happen.  If Bills want Garapollo then they need to give Washington a 1st or they won't send him to 49ers and 49ers won't send Garapollo to the Bills.  49ers could wait for Cousins to hit the Market and not sign Jimmy but then there's no guarantee Jimmy comes to Buffalo.  If the Bills want Jimmy then the only way to guarantee it and avoid a bidding war is to send a pick to Washington to put this all into motion.  Nobody knows if it's a 1st or if it's a player or what it is.  But you best believe that if the Bills want him they have to give up something to put this into motion and lock him in.  He's not coming here otherwise.

But anyhow, there is a 99% chance this is facebook BS so who cares

You're right I'm sure it's horse puckey but oh man the Look on BB's face if it went down when he tried to get Jimmy G far from here and it back fires would be priceless.

If the Niners have that Cousins man crush they could turn a 2nd round investment in Jimmy G into a 1st and Cousins. The Skins would get a guy that could start at guard and a 2nd round pick for a guy they want out of anyways.

Then why did 49ers trade for Garoppolo?

Right - if they always wanted Cousins (which is what we all thought before that Jimmy G trade went down) then it’s ridiculously smart to do this. If they want to stick with Jimmy now, they can. They really have their choice (if Cousins wants to go there).

This isn't the case at all based on the latest developments.  The entire premise is a fairy tale.

Dude haven't you learned by now that if there's a 1 in 6 trillion chance of this becoming reality this board goes nuts?

If some team thinks he’s worth it, they can franchise him and turn their 2nd rd pick into 2 firsts and sign cousins in FA. Everyone knows the Browns were trying to actively trade for him for months. They could easily flip him there if they chose to.

Im not saying that is why they traded for him, but if they wanted Cousins all along, that would be why. It would give them great leverage and options.

Makes sense but very forward thinking without knowing Cousins situation....Great move by 49ers if this happens

Cousins wasn't available then and that was too good of a deal to pass up.  Nobody saw the Alex Smith trade coming

Yeah, crazy stuff if any of this happens

No one saw the Alex Smith trade coming, but everyone knew Cousins was done in Washington. He didn’t want to be there and they weren’t paying him. He hates Bruce Allen and they showed him zero sense of wanting a commitment.

Nothing new on Facebook about this but I was just reading on The FacePlace that the Bills are willing to give up both 1st round picks in this 3 team trade because there's also a blockbuster trade happening that is just now being reported. It involves the Bills and 31 other NFL teams all trading players and picks. In the end, the Bills wind up with the first 17 picks in this years draft AND Jimmy G. Beane is on Fire!!!!

I thought they would sign him long term but maybe I'm just naive.  I thought he had proved himself and they had already invested so much.  Franchise QB's are hard to find and up until the Alex Smith trade there really wasn't any good options.  If they wanted to move on I'm surprised they didn't draft a rookie last year knowing it would be Cousin's last

I think the relationship deteriorated over this past season

I really don't think this is far-fetched, at all.

http://www.pressdemocrat.com/sports/7941206-181/grant-cohn-alex-smith-trade

"I count five teams that would kill to have Garoppolo: the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals. The 49ers can give Garoppolo the franchise tag on March 14, then trade him to one of those five teams before the draft. At minimum, the Niners probably would receive two first-round picks, a second-round pick and a third-round pick.

And then, the Niners can sign Cousins. He may be even better than Garoppolo, who has started only seven games in his career. Cousins has started 57. He is a proven commodity. His 99.7 passer rating since 2015 ranks fourth highest in the NFL behind Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Matt Ryan during that period."

The question here is "just what does that person in the know, actually know?"  I think what this person on Facebook knows, is how to propagate rumors.

I think it's a valid concern that if the Redskins franchise Cousins after trading for Alex Smith, he and his agent will file a grievance and it will take months to sort out.

I want no part of that.

Then why would Washington let him go?

Two likely reasons other than "they don't think he's good":

1) He has made it clear he will not resign with them at any price.  He wants to hit FA, period.

2) Every team has a figure they think they can invest in QB and still put a decent team on the field, and Cousins exceeds that for the Redskins

Whatever happens I think it is safe to say Beane will leave no stone unturned when it comes to QB this year...it’s about time this team made QB a top priority...the whole reason trading away our top players was ok was the hope that we would finally get our QB- not just fill other positions with those picks.

With the franchise tag still in play this was less than certain.

Then I would argue that the 49ers will pay less for Garopolo's price than Cousins's.  The value is with the younger player with high potential than the guy who has reached his ceiling.

Also, Garopolo will sell tickets. Can you imagine the fanbase reaction (after getting a dizzying taste of JG) when they hear "oh nevermind, Kirk Cousins is coming"?

I would hate giving two first round pick for a qb that played great in 5 games.  Anyone remember Rob Johnson?

If Garoppolo was in this year's draft, he would be the first overall pick, hands down.

There's plenty of people who would gladly give up 21 and 22 for one of the kids who ARE in this year's draft.

Getting Garoppolo, instead, is a no-brainer to me.

It’s either that or do it for a guy who hasn’t even taken 1 snap in the NFL...take your pick...at least Garoppolo has proven he can play in the league.
