VirginiaMike
I saw some explosiveness from Merriman in the preseason. Where is it now? Kelsey is outplaying him - it's not even close. Am I missing something or is he done?
Phil Hansen Forever
Merriman was all but invisible this game. Kelsay was everywhere, as was Dareus. GO BILLS!
BillsObserver
I think that groin injury is holding him back. You just don't lose that kind of speed in the course of a week.
Bills!Win!
Ralph is cheap. Kelsay is overpayed and overrated.
bladiebla
We were committed to the run so Merriman had an entirely different role today. Last play he got through with their LT making a big holding on him (wasnt called). Merriman his exam is next week against the pass happy Pats*. Dorkington
I think he did fine in run stopping/gap control... but yeah... not much in explosiveness.
Dan
Two weeks in a row of not getting run all over.. .at will. We just played 2 explosive, run first teams and held both their number 1 backs to less than 100yds rushing. I'd suggest that he and the whole defense is doing exactly what they need to be doing. NishP
Exactly, there job is to stop the run then it's to get 2 the QB, if you stop the run on 1st and 2nd you get to pin your ears back on 3rd.... Everyone knows that :-) #gobills
DrDawkinstein
2-0! THATS where Merriman is. There is a reason Kelsay looks better. Teams gameplan for Merriman. We're undefeated and our Run D looks good. Needed some better coverage today, but whatever. GO BILLS!
BillsVet
On the day of a great win, it's concerning that they weren't able to get after the QB more. I don't think Merriman's name was called at all and he struggled to even pressure Campbell.

I don't think Merriman's name was called at all and he struggled to even pressure Campbell. I felt Campbell was under pressure. The problem was in coverage because he rarely needed to make a 2nd or 3rd read. The heat was coming, but he was getting that ball out. Oh well, a win is a win is a win! Hapless Bills Fan
I think he did fine in run stopping/gap control... but yeah... not much in explosiveness. Dorkington, Last week I saw a lot of Merriman taking up space and occupying more than his fair share of blockers I didn't see that this week, but maybe I just didn't see it and it was there? Why was Kellen Heard on the field so much?

Why was Kellen Heard on the field so much? It was hot down on the field, so they were doing a lot of rotation to keep guys fresh. #34fan
Get a clue guys, this is typical Merriman. Talk up a storm and then hide out in the back. Since '09, the guy has had more hits on Tila Tequila than anyone else. Just a matter of time before he's on I/R. -Time for a young guy to step up and take his belt. We're undefeated and our Run D looks good. Needed some better coverage today, but whatever. GO BILLS! Yeh, he was double teamed a lot...and lets other guys get one on one or alone. He isn't getting big stats, but he is there....and they have to account for him. I am happy he is still whole physically, and believe he will come along with the big plays as he plays back into shape, both mentally and physically. You really though those two cameo's in the preseason got him ready?

Wagon Circler
I feel that if Merriman continues to be a no-show, he will play his way out of a job and Batten, who is a good athlete, will start seeing more time. The lack of a pass rush from the four rushers is a serious problem again this year, one I hoped he'd improve. But it's not happening and will be our undoing. CodeMonkey
That was a disgusting non call. The guy rode back two OL on that play. You cant seriously be complaining about the officiating in this game? A couple phantom PI calls on the raiders that were at most holding (if anything). All day long the refs were giving their love to the Bills. Enjoy this 2-0 win and don't waste your time complaining about very pro Bills officiating! billsfan89
I think you have to give Merriman a pass on being a little out of sorts (Although I thought that he played well during the Chiefs game). I think that a guy who missed all of last season as well as 2 out of the last 3 seasons is going to need a few weeks to get adjusted to playing consistently again. IF in the next few weeks Merriman doesn't look better I would be very shocked.

Mike in Syracuse
Merriman has been lining up a ton with his hand on the ground in a DE position. He's not "explosive" because he's basically playing against guys that are 50lbs heavier than him and he's playing a pure contain. I would expect that next week he'll be turned loose. Like mentioned above, the entire front seven had run responsibility against the Chiefs and Raiders. Against a passing team, I look to the coaching staff to move Merriman around a bit and add some pressure schemes.

This was the #1 and #2 rushing attacks from last year - and Merriman was drawing plenty of double-teams on passing downs. I predict LIGHTS-OUT next week against a QB you have to pressure. Oh - and memo to San Diego - fire Norv Turner and anyone else involved with their game planning. EVERYONE in the NFL knows you have to pressure Brady - except for you, apparently - idiot. Only Tolbert's bizarre and wimpy backwards run saved Turner from being the dumbest man in Foxborough this afternoon.
