  1. NFL put this up yesterday. I once watched a JP Losman career highlight video and it was over before my coffee was half drunk, so let's take a moment to appreciate the fact that we have this cannon-armed lunatic playing QB for our team
  2. Welcome to the first ever "Question of the day" thread proposed by @BuffaloBill! It's an honor to kick this off for TSW and thought there was no better place to start than a question about our best and most important player, Josh Allen. There has been a lot of discussion this offseason about the WR position, but there are more changes around Josh and this offense than just who the receivers are (or aren't). Josh will also have a new center for the first time in a long time, and there is a chance it could be a rookie in SVPG and Joe Brady is going to now truly install his own offense here rather than manage it around Dorseys when he took over last year. So now that we have a pretty good idea on personnel between draft and signings, do you think Allen will be better, worse, or about the same as he has been the past 2 seasons?
  3. In my opinion, there are two primary factors separating the drought era Bills teams from the Allen era Bills teams. The first and foremost is having Josh Allen as QB. The second factor which may be equally as important is having the financial resources to compete in free agency. Among the drought era coaches I think I liked Chan Gaily the best. I credit him with being the inventor of the Fitzmagic. It would have been interesting if he and Allen had aligned in time. I am not sure if any of the other drought era coaches would have been anymore interesting than the Allen era coaching staffs have been. How would others like to rewrite history?
  4. Only QB higher is Joe Burrow. "Gotta Have It" drives are drives where they are trailing with under 5 minutes to go in the 2nd half. Lamar Jackson was 3rd, which means this HAS to be a regular season stat, Brady was 4th and Mahomes was 5th. https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/lamar-jackson-better-clutch-than-patrick-mahomes-tom-brady-past-five-seasons-analytics
  5. Mahomes is the best QB in the league, but Allen is way better than Tua. Allen is #2 at this point.
  6. It looks like they only had three in 2023 also (Allen, Allen & Barkley) and 2022 (Allen, Keenum & Barkley) also.
  7. Well I do agree that Allen rushing that much is not ideal. But I also felt they tried to neuter Allen prior to that which I think is even worse. They need to let Allen be Allen, and the mere threat of his running makes defense have to play him different. So you want the threat to still be real while also keeping him from avg 9 carries a game. Remember, Brady was working out of Dorsey’s offense, so let’s see what he does this year with Allen and the array of weapons on this offense. I don’t think Allen will be running as much, but I also think they restrict Allen from instinctively taking off the way it felt under Dorsey.
  8. Jordan says Allen is best QB in the league. https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/jordan-poyer-josh-allen-tua-tagovailoa
  9. And the roster of Jags outside of Allen continues
  10. Allen's regular season turnover percentage is 2.7% Allen's postseason turnover percentage is 1.3% Allen's regular season TD percentage is 5.9% Allen's post season TD percentage is 5.8% He's been remarkably consistent with a high TD percentage in both regular season and post season. Has a dramatically lower turnover percentage in the post season vs. regular season. We've seen low turnover Josh Allen in the post season and it still hasn't even been enough to get the Bills to a Super Bowl. Is your opinion above from your turnover narrative thread, that Allen is an also ran playoff QB because of his 4.5 TD : 1 TO ratio in the postseason?
  11. I don’t know. Obviously Mahomes is great but I can’t say he’s better than Allen. There’s things Allen can do physically that Mahomes can’t. There’s nothing Mahomes can do that Allen can’t. Then again Mahomes stays cool under all circumstances, maybe that’s what he does better. Allen’s got the physical, Mahomes has the mental.
  12. Lucky as hell to have Allen.
  13. Okay… but ask yourself this question, and be 100% honest with yourself. You have 30 seconds to go down a field and win the Super Bowl. You have a choice of Allen or Mahomes? Are you picking Allen? My original post is not an indictment on Allen. Allen has Mahomes beat in almost all the categories for me (physically). I just think Mahomes has the ability to stay cool in any situation. He’s proven it time and time again. You’re not turning on Allen or your Bills fandom by acknowledging the dudes really good at keeping cool.
  14. Daboll was a father figure to Allen when he got here. Allen was 100% accountable to Daboll in that relationship With Dorsey, Allen had a much "free" relationship where they would often bantering each other. It is possible either Allen or Dorsey tried to take advantage of this situation and hence were not accountable to each other. When Brady was the QB coach, Allen (at least on the sidelines) appears to be having more of a professional relationship and that appears to be continuing as Brady has moved to the booth. I think this is more of a No-nonsense Professional relationship. Allen started playing better under Brady as OC as the accountability of his actions are now to Brady and not to Dorsey. May be ALlen has realized that having the stronger professional relationship with his OC will help him win games and that was evident down the stretch last season. The key question for 2025 is - can Allen and Brady work on building that professional relationship that will take them to the promised land
  15. Last year was the first season Allen has had a good oline, he’s thrived with mediocre oline play. There would be no need for excuses if Allen had a hobbled Hill and Waddle because Allen can make plays on his own, that’s why paying Tua 50+ per is going to be a day to celebrate on this board.
  16. As do I and lots of others. Here's the thing, McDefense has an MO, which has changed since he's been here, several times now, and never lasting more than a couple of seasons, and despite not always fully articulating it, which in and of itself is bizarre. He let's Allen play to his strengths in the playoffs, but Allen then has to overcome his coach, which is too much, particularly if Allen's not in Superman mode. We also all know that at some point Allen simply says F-it in games and takes the game into his own hands. That's not coaching however. That's Allen taking over. This complimentary football approach is anything but letting Allen play to his strengths, it's the opposite. So going into this season anyway, Allen won't be playing to his strengths. We also get into the roster-building aspect of it as well. Look at our roster, it's not built to cater to Allen's strengths. That even assumes that Coleman's even 80% of what people think he is. So between the two, why on earth would Allen be at his best this season. There is no known reason other than blind hope.
  17. Vegas has been more optimistic about Allen and the team since 2020 than the majority of the fan base. The best qb in the AFC east is Allen by a wide margin.
  18. Not with this roster of Jags. This is a drought era roster without Josh Allen, 0 elite playmaker outside of Allen, 0. Ask any of your friends that is not a Bills fan to name 1. A lot of outside opinions I have saw this year have the Bills finishing 3rd in division, yet on TBD we ate guaranteed the division and playoffs with a garbage roster outside of Allen 🤣
  19. I don't think we can restructure Allen (or any other player) more than once during an offseason, so I don't think additional amounts from a further Allen restructure will be available.
  20. Impossible to know how Allen would’ve developed in a different system and structure. MVP Allen would’ve had all our drought coaches in the playoffs though. Maybe not consistently but at least once.
  21. Happy birthday to the owner of the Miami Dolphins Josh Allen!
  22. Josh Allen is a weapon. Sneaks at an incredible high rate. I think you use Allens running ability late as possible. Playoffs, Division, or seed purposes. I can’t think of a reason to call a designed run before the first snowfall of the season. Use Davis, Johnson, Cook whoever before than. An occasional sneak sure. Allen scrambles sure. Allen power right on 2nd and 7 from the 35 no thank you.
