I simply think it is wrong to make your best weapon less of a threat. By limiting his running that is what you do. Bills best chance to win a Super Bowl will always be with Allen playing at 100% of his capabilities. Not 85% or 90%. The Bills are not going to get by the Chiefs and Mahomes with Allen only playing up to 85% of his abilities. And the conference is tough right now. Bills haven't even been able to obtain the 1 seed in the last four seasons and that is with the Chiefs only obtaining it themselves twice in that span. We need Allen with 100% of his capabilities in every game, even the week 1 and 2 regular season games . Only time will tell if he has a shortened career like Cam. Allen has been a significantly better and consistent QB than Cam so I've never loved the comparison but I get why it is made. People think Cam fell off a cliff due to injuries. To me it was a bit more about Cam really only ever being completely average outside of one great year. So once Cam lost a hint of ability to age or injury, he really fell off a cliff. Once and when Allen loses a hint of ability to age or injury his ceiling should still remain much higher than Cam's. I disagree, with regards to how the Bills HC and upper management see the issue of Allen running. I do think they want less carries for Allen. I expect them to try that again to start next season. As you said, they through that game plan out the window (as they should have) when Brady took over and they were 5-5 and every game was a must win. But I do expect a similar focus of less carries for Allen to start the season next year. If the Bills are successful, maybe they will have the luxury they had in the 2020 season where Allen was not called on to carry a heavy load with his legs to end the 2020 season and the Bills went on a long winning streak. But as mentioned before, that 2020 season may never repeat itself again. Just as the 2018 and 2019 seasons for Mahomes and Jackson never repeated themselves to this point.

Historical Fiction: How would drought coaches have fared with Josh Allen?
vincec replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I really liked Gailey, and the offense would’ve been great with Allen. But Gailey’s problem was that he didn’t give a crap about defense and fielded some of the worst defenses in Bills history. No way they make the playoffs with those defenses. Marrone fielded some great defenses, but he and Hackett would’ve ruined Allen before he got off the ground. He would’ve been a first round bust, IMO. I think the best would’ve probably been Ryan. If he could go 8-8 with Taylor, imagine what he could do with Allen. -
I agree with your take on Solomon but not on Coleman. Think Coleman will be a solid #1 WR for Josh Allen.

Statistical data are useless unless you know how to interpret them. During Allen's first year, he had arguably the worst OL in franchise history. Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes were the worst pair of starting WRs I've ever seen, on any NFL team. Zay Jones wasn't much better. During the offseason, the starter's reps had been given to Nate Peterman, not Josh Allen. Anything you could possibly think of to set a QB up to fail, the Bills did to Allen. What effect do you think all that had on Allen's rookie stats? When I watched Manuel's college highlight reel, there was nothing special there. The throws he made were throws I'd expect of any average college QB. Allen's college highlight reel was cut from an entirely different cloth. Manuel was the same guy in the NFL as he was in college. He was the same guy in year 4 or 5 of his NFL career as he'd been as a rookie.

How do you feel about the Bills upcoming team/schedule?
PBF81 replied to Gman10's topic in The Stadium Wall
That seems to be leaning on the dramatic side, no? It seems more like 2019 without the ease of schedule that propelled us to 9 wins. At the same time it's a seasoned Allen, not a breakout Allen. The division should be more difficult despite the fact that it was Brady's last season in NE then. NE and the Jets will both be better and they both beat us once with NE having nearly beaten us twice. The biggest issue seems to be that we're orchestrating the offense as if we have some game manager QB when we have Allen. It makes little sense. -
Imo Gabe Davis IS an example of an inflated market. Let's see how many passes he catches (and/or drops) without Josh Allen throwing to him.

Rd 2, Pick 33: WR Keon Coleman, Florida State

I don’t think we actually know. He had some throws to Kincaid he had to go get. I think part of it was we haven’t had contested catch players in Buffalo as Allen developed. So when Allen was good it was all quick little shifty guys. Davis was horrible at contested catches. Davis and Diggs have had numerous one on one opportunities downfield and never really came down with it. Maybe a couple times. Shakir was known as a contested catch guy, even though he was smaller. One play I remember his rookie year was Allen just giving him a chance. It was a throw we don’t see Allen make often but I believe he threw it because he understood that Shakir can make that play. -

EJ was a bust. He got worst as his career went on. Allen got better. That wasnt coaching. Ej fell apart. -
2015 Carolina Panthers: Have we ever been as good?

If there's one thing I learned from this, it's to expect Beane to draft players named Allen and Coleman! 😮 -
Yeah as a kid I Ioved those old Edgar Allen Poe adaptations he did with Vincent Price.

Still find it incredible how little attention Allen got out of high school. Fun media segment idea - Allen selecting an NBA or NFL player, each week of the season, and breaking down HOW they could be utilized in the opposite league. Almost forgot Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh until seeing him in the last clip above - he could be a difference-maker still for Steelers, imo.

Eason is interesting. Dont have much behind Allen. Could be a camp arm at worst. Possible PS at best.

Josh thinks he can come off the bench in the NBA

Allen Iverson may have been able to. We’ll obviously never know- but he was a ridiculous HS QB that decided to focus on Basketball -
Buffalo Bills Schedule Discussion / Prediction Thread

I am thinking they send the Bills to The meadowlands to finish the season. Allen Vs. Rodgers maybe for the division. -
There’s always shock value every year because worse players get paid more than the top players. But it’s always based on cap %. Burrow got 24%. Goff got 21%. When Mahomes signed his $45 million AAV deal he got 23%. So Burrow did get a little more. When Allen signed his deal he got 24%, but the cap was low due to covid. Allen would’ve got more. If Allen signed a deal today he probably gets $61 million AAV.

I am curious to see how Belichick would fare with Allen. We will never know but IMHO a Lombardi would come to Buffalo. -

I felt that way too for sure. I'm OK with it and hope he is the Josh Allen of WR's effective immediately 😎
