  1. Edmunds is a different style LB then what we have now. Comparing him to Bernard or even Dodson is not very effective because the requirements are different. I like Edmunds but at his cost he was not worth it and we have obviously made do with his replacement.
  2. Gabe's value on his rookie contract was great for us. Let him go get an Edmunds contract. He was a good teammate and provided some value to this team. He just proved he wasn't "the guy".
  3. He'll do well in FA. Much better than he'd do with the Bills offer. He is this year's Edmunds. Good for him. I hope he goes and gets paid well somewhere else. Moving on.
  4. Poyer - 99% of us LOVE Gabe - Fans will give him a standing ovation next time we see him Morse - (See above for Gabe) Tre - People in the stands will probably cry next time they see him in person if the team recognizes him, which they will Singletary - Fans were all rooting for this year Edmunds and Diggs are the two that we’ve dumped on.. One because he just wasn’t worth his contract projection, but no real ill will from fans. The fan reaction to Diggs is different for a reason .. and plenty are still wishing him well. And yea.. we all hope Houston somehow becomes a train wreck, why on earth would we not?
  5. I've been worrying about Rousseau for a couple of year. Let me say first that I think you sort of suggest that Rousseau is a disappointment. If he's a disappointment, it's only in the sense that he isn't the super star that some, mostly unreasonably, imagined he would be. The only time that it's reasonable to expect that a team got a super star is when the team has a top-ten pick. If teams had thought Rousseau was going to be a super star, some team would have taken him before the Bills did. Rousseau has in fact produced at a level that is reasonable to expect for a guy who was drafted late in the first round: Starter almost from the beginning, makes plays, is coachable, is a solid contributor. But Rousseau was a pick sort of like Edmunds - the Bills bet a bit on his high ceiling, and like Edmunds, he hasn't risen to that ceiling. Instead, and more so than Edmunds, he became a solid starter with no weaknesses. The Bears took the second bet on Edmunds' ceiling, because it is so high, but I don't think teams would make the comparable big bet on Greg, because it's pretty clear he isn't going to be a dominant edge rusher like Watt or a Bosa or something. What bothers me about Rousseau is that the Bills need a few more standout players. Allen is one, and Milano probably is the other. They need one or two more. They hoped Miller would be one, but that hasn't happened yet. But McDermott loves his all-purpose players. He want great athletes who can do everything their position demands, so he likes Rousseau, whose really pretty good at pass rushing, run stopping, pursuing, pass coverage. The problem is that he isn't dominant as any of those things; he's just very good. I think the Bills should keep Rousseau, but if unloading him was part of a plan to get a dominant defensive player, almost at any position, I'd be in favor.
  6. It's mystifying. Edmunds was the fourth highest-paid LB last year and received the fifth biggest contract in FA in 2023. Is it all based on position? If so, LB is below D-line, o-line, WR, and QB in terms of AAV paid. The fact that the Bengals only got sixths for losing two top-level safeties suggestions that positional worth might be a factor. Bengals got only sixths for the two very good safeties they lost. I am starting to think that overall positional value plays a role.
  7. I see your points, but I feel like Andy and Mahomes would absolutely toy with dorian Thinking of that gives me Flashbacks of Tremaine Edmunds rookie year against Philip Rivers in the home opener
  8. Edmunds was expected to be our run stopper and told to keep everything in front of him. There is is a reason that JT went off the day he was not in the lineup. Edmunds had the job of cleaning up others messes which he did very well. Edmunds rarely blitzed and was often expected to play all of the underneath stuff much more often Bernard. Bernard is more dynamic and allowed more latitude in where he is expected to be. As far as your comment of the "same defense" I can't really help because this defense this year is much more attacking than previous years and we try to dictate much more than prior years.
  9. I don't think I've EVER seen Edmunds get a sack like that. Really happy with Bernard and glad we're not paying Edmunds $18 million a year.
  10. Too many times I’ve seen an OL get his hands on Tremaine and drive him back like he’s on skates. I’ve seen that maybe once or twice all year with Bernard. I think the difference between the two is Bernard tries to slip past the block, while Edmunds just seemed content to occupy a blocker. I’d take Bernard over Edmunds at equal salary.
  11. No one thought that. It was looked at more like the Edmunds pick. A guy who was slightly underperforming
  12. Von Miller: if you don't understand why he did it. There's no help for you Dawson Knox. Yes, bad contract. Stefan Diggs: Again, if you don't see why he did it at the time, there's no help for you You are correct. The Dline picks have been pretty disappointing. No reliable pass rusher. Pretty much the same as the dline argument. DT signings: Ed Oliver, Daquon Jones. Those are just fine. Wyatt Teller: to his defense wasn't THAT great when he was with us but yes, Beane probably gave up too early. Edmunds was highly regarded out of college. Can't really fault him for that pick. He was a major need at the time All in all. Chill the f out
  13. edmunds is just a man amongst boys in terms of attributes and stature. He's also super young, i think that also impresses people. he's just not that great of a linebacker. for all of his size and power, he's really not that physical. if you put poyer's heart and football mind in edmund's body, you'd have a 10 time all pro guy who walks to canton on a street named after him.
  14. Bernard is the athlete of the two. Edmunds’s slow processing is his career killer. Nice paychecks though.
  15. Not drafting Mahomes when we (and nine other teams) had the chance to, was a logical choice. No one knew how good he'd be, except the Chiefs, and then they handled him absolutely perfectly. Kudos to them. And the Bills did well with their draft picks, getting White, Allen, and Edmunds. Where the Bills really dropped the ball was not hiring McDermott's former boss, Reid, when he was unemployed. McD is just not in Reid's league. He's a good coach but not good enough.
  16. What are the chances that this defense just makes LBs? Milano Edmunds (if you want it, not looking for an argument) Dodson Bernard Now this guy steps in…maybe it’s the system
  17. If I understand the argument correctly, comp picks are based on what you lost. The playing time would be based on their contributions to the team prior to them moving on, 2022 in this case. Edmunds played 72% of the defensive snaps in '22, which would (by some people's theories) reduce by some factor what he was signed for. It is possible that playing time in both seasons matters too. However it is calculated, there is no reason for this information to be so secret. I could have lived with a 4th if Beane knew it at the beginning of the season or throughout the season what the likely outcomes were.
  18. It's hyperbole to say that Edmunds was considered "bad". He was just a huge underachiever in Buffalo........and Terrel Bernard is showing exactly why. McDermott's defense should make a star out of a MLB............it made Preston Brown the leading tackler in the league in 2017 for chrissakes.........but Edmunds could never do everything from the position. Bernard has restored what should be "the norm" at the position..........a ton of tackles and big plays of all sorts. Edmunds has astonishingly made some plays in coverage this season..........but that's the only change. His production around the LOS is still anemic.......tackle numbers still low........0 sacks 0 QB hits and just 5 TFL to go with 1 FF and 1 FR. Bernard has not only produced his share of INT's...........but 6.5 sacks, 10 QB hits 9 TFL and 3 FF and 3 FR. If a player with Edmunds' pedigree and Edmunds' body had done that he might be looking at first team All Pro. Bernard has only further exposed the deficiencies in Edmunds game...........trying to paint it any other way is foolish.
  19. Still waiting for someone to prove this is true? They have 2+ starters coming out of every draft and various role players lol They couldn't be where they are if they were drafting poorly - not finding superstars in the 2nd half of RD1 isn't poor drafting either. 2017 White/Dawkins/Milano 2018 Allen/Johnson + Edmunds, Phillips, Neal 2019 Oliver/Knox + Singletary 2020 Davis/Bass/Jackson + Epenesa 2021 Rousseau/Brown 2022 Cook/Bernard/Shakir/Benford + Spector 2023 Kincaid/Torrence
  20. So you think it was stupid for the Bills to pick up the 5th year on Josh correct? Just want to understand your position clearly. That was stupid correct? I do get you give the player leverage by picking up the option but for the right player it can absolutely make sense but you also pick up some leverage. The players hate it which is probably means it's good for the teams. I will also just point out that with Edmunds it is simply your opinion he was not worth the $12M, one year later he got $18M and he did not change in any significant way. It is also just your opinion he outperformed the $12M so much in year 5 that his market was now 35% higher. I agree his 5th year was his best year but he did not blow years 1-4 out of the water so much that he went from 35% below a $12M AAV to 35% above that. The Bills probably tried extending him and could not agree on the price so they lived with the 5th year option, it was not some terrible value. See Knox and Miller if you want to see bad values. Edmunds has always been a polarizing player for Bills fans and has never had as many impact plays as people expect of him, not in years1-4, 5 or last year with Chicago.
  21. ?? I was never wrong about Milano. I said he was better and more important to the team than Edmunds. Spector, Edmunds, Joseph, a few others im forgetting
  22. Bernard has been an absolutely fantastic surprise this season. He has played far better than Edmunds.
  23. facts r facts r facts....kc has won titles, bills no...any ifs ands or buts mean nothing n woulda coulda shoulda etc etc kc system helps, who knows what mahomes does in buffalo, all speculation, but what is not speculation is that the chiefs have won titles.... cant dispute facts allen dawkins white edmunds neal all have helped the bills win games, just not titles......YET
  24. depends on how you look at it. It's a great signing for them at that price IMHO. I'm surprised he didn't get more. Directly, did we get worse? I would say probably since he has always been a great and steady player for us at C. Indirectly? we needed that cap space, which we need for now and the future. And the unknown part is how Conner McGovern will perform at C. When we lost Tremaine Edmunds we thought we'd have a significant drop off, and then enter Terrel Bernard who surprised us all.
