Not challenging Dalton sideline catch or Cook TD
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
And the announcer also criticized the Bills for going for it on 4th and 5 and they then had the 49 yard TD to Coleman. I heard the announcer say that to, and wondered what he was looking at as from the replay clearly could see Kincaid bobble it a bit and seemed like the ball even hit the ground. Highly doubtful the Bills would have won that challenge -
With all the players out on defense, plus Shakir who at this point is the only highly reliable WR we have also being out, overall not thta surprised at the outcome and overall how they played. The one area that does concern me the past two weeks is how weak the O-line seems to have looked as Allen seemed to be running for his life much of the game. Dawkins may have been dinged up, that may have added to things. Did Texans send the house quite a bit, maybe that was their plan send a lot of guys as with out Shakir, wasn't worried about needing more than 4 or 5 backs to cover everyone?

Tasker still in running for HOF
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to tomdayfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Saw on the list of potential inductee's along with Tasker was Otis Taylor. Never watched that close, but it surprised me that I would have thought Taylor was already in the HOF. He was pretty damm good back in the day. -
Well I'm more thinking from a mental standpoint, that Millers head wasn't maybe in the right frame of mind knowing this was coming. Add to that, with a large 2nd half lead , Ravens were mostly in a running play mode so his skills not needed as much.

Depends on how simple and the implications towards the following years cap. The Bills just took some big hits this season to free up cash going forward so don't want to undo that good for a small improvement this year. Like someone else posted if the team is 7-1 at that point, then maybe, but much worse stick with the plan and the plan whether they state it publicly or not, their actions spell mini rebuild year.
-
Does make me wonder if his limited play count on Sunday had anything to do with this? Either he and/or Bills knew this was coming?
-
Unless its someone on a real cheap deal but you said a top tier guy, so then no. Want to keep he cap $$ for next year. If they were going to do that, they could have kept Diggs or Morse, but they want to take the big hit on the cap this year and be done with it. So don't go right back to where we were.

Tre White is doing "great" in Camp

But are you shocked by it? -
Shaking my head side to side

Add to that, you also run a different defense when you have a T Johnson as your nickle, so long term no you don't change, short term, maybe, but providing you feel it will help you overall, not just in the run defense. There also are very few teams that have a Derrick Henry too. Could be a Torrence-McGovern thing not just quite being on the same page together. Switching to Anderson creates a potential new different problem. I just don't think Allen having a broken finger has caused Groot to slow down, disagree with that one.
-
Correct, but that is still the one problem with Allen, he will never just go down. Not without a fight.
-
Same things were being said about Cook in his rookie year. Backups get limited practice snaps, add to that dealing with a rookie so not all that surprised. Unless a rookie is the starter right from week 1, it seems to take until late in the season for them to finally figure things out as they just don't get enough practice time. Will be interesting to see how Bishop does if Rapp is out.

So far WR group looks like a dumpster fire
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
Have to ask, did you have this all written 4 weeks ago, but just figured it wouldn't look good to post this when they keep winning each week. A better title to this post would be The WR group looks like a dumpster fire last night! At least then you'd be right about something. -
9/29/24 GAMEDAY Bills at Ravens SNF PREGAME THREAD
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
The assumption is neither would miss 4 games so don't move him. Sounds like Bernard may be back next week so made the right move on that one. -
It's not in the last 3 or 4 minutes!

Here's what Damian Harris has to say about Brady, from article in he Athletic: Damien Harris announced his retirement in March, but he was there in Buffalo last season when the Bills made the switch to Joe Brady at offensive coordinator and Josh Allen took off. Three games into this season, Allen is still ascending. So when Damien joined co-host Chase Daniel and me on the Friday episode of the “Scoop City” podcast, we asked him: Why is this QB-OC marriage thriving? Here’s what Damien had to say: “Josh is literally the world’s biggest, strongest, fastest toddler. He’s so playful. He loves to joke. He loves to have a good time. And when you’re a guy that’s that talented and that can win you games at the level of Josh Allen can, relax and be a little bit loose, that’s the way you’ve got to ride. “Joe Brady’s as cool as the other side of the pillow. And he coached at LSU, so he’s been with guys who had that superstar nature. He’s been a part of those cultures where it’s like, ‘We just show up and we play ball. It don’t matter what you call. Let us call the plays. Because whatever you put on a call sheet, we’re going to make it work.’ “Look at the emergence of Jimbo (James) Cook. Josh Allen is like, if I’m going to be the best version of myself, we’ve got to get this dude going in the pass game and the run game. Joe Brady is getting James Cook involved, and that’s because Josh Allen wants him involved.” https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5799263/2024/09/27/caleb-williams-rough-start/ Part on Allen is about 2/3 of the way down the article for those that have access

Give some love to the big guys up front
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wonder if next year will be McGovern's last year and in 2026 the center job goers to SVP?? Looking at McGovern's contract, he is a free agent with a $4.8 cap hit, not too large to withstand. -
The counter to that is as the season goes on, the passing game will improve, particularly Coleman and Kincaid. Even Samuel likely haven't seen the best of him yet either. As to my overall thoughts "as usually the armchair coaches and GM's here on this site no very little and about 10X less than many think they know!"
-
I tended to read the same thing. Funny how the mind can play tricks on the eyes. What position did they have him in at, center I'm hoping?? Though have to admit, very little noticeable drop off with McGovern. Think he still has 2 years left on contract??

Not necessarily a knock on Tom Brady, but have to say, listening to him he just doesn't have a strong voice like most announcers tend to have. Seemed to tend to favor the offense too much, but that typically happens with most. After a few years experience they usually become more neutral. While many things can improve over time, the voice will never change.
