  1. Assuming the Bill's beat the Chiefs, there's very few teams who have gone 16-1 so whether they lose to Denver or whenever, they will lose another game or two. But likely so will the Bills. Ask yourself this, last year at Thanksgiving, how many people thought the Bills would get the #2 overall seed?
  2. I believe his future is to play strong safety, not FS, so he isn't really geared to replace Hamlin. As been stated he missed much of training camp, so now not only are some asking him to start, but also now to jump over and play FS which very likely in the limited time he's practiced was at SS. But hey why not. Reading some of the responses, we probably shouldn't even have a user forum because no matter what is posted, the Beane/McD haters can somehow make this into it's all their fault, they suck!
  3. Many times I've heard the argument that they want officials who have high paying jobs like bank presidents, school board superintendent, attorneys, etc. so they are not going to be tempted to take a bribe. The problem with that argument is that even if you are in one of the type of job positions I mention, there's too much in the game today to not still be offered a bribe that could easily double your salary. 40 to 50 years ago too people in these positions were often making close to as much money as some of these players, now it doesn't come close. Recall reading how in 60's and earlier, players would take jobs in the off season in construction or something to make some extra cash to tide them over. The other issue today to is 50 years ago people in these positions would work a 9 to 5 job and just like Ward Cleaver, come home. Now folks in these jobs are going into work at 8:00 and may not leave the office until 7:00 at night, when not traveling half way around the world for business so little time for them to study or review the rules. So yes I agree need full time officials with extra crews so can easily and quickly replace or suspend someone when needed.
  4. He's be Rex Ryan's favorite player on the team.
  5. It sounds like they are both signed to the 53, not the PS. So that would rule out bringing back Hyde unless they release someone else. I suppose they could initially sign Hyde to PS for a couple weeks to give him time for conditioning, but would need to also release someone there first too.
  6. Wondering the Edwards move was made to bring Hyde back??
  7. Regardless it proves nothing to the point that Ben Johnson will be a great HC. There's a long list of similar failures.
  8. If Daboll was so bad, why was he a hot commodity for a HC job back then and everyone here was talking about how we're going to lose him at year end? The Bills also improved when Daboll was here. And BTW getting better each year, this is only year 3 for Johnson so hold the brakes a bit on that. If after 5 years straight they improve, then yes can agree not a flash in the pan. 3 years is pushing it!. The Lions also were also real bad for a number of years prior, so helped them get many high draft picks, won 10 games in 3 years total prior.
  9. Well many say Ben Johnson and just make this assumption that because he is a very good to great OC, he'll be a great HC (just like Daboll) And assume as long as you have a great QB which we do, a good OC will take care of the rest. All he needs to do is "roll the balls out" as they say in basketball.
  10. Sure that can happen. But when factor in McD's record, it's one of the best in the league so the odds on being able to improve on that has a very low chance probability wise. People say we should bring in Ben Johnson that would improve things. How is Johnson any better than Daboll was 3 years ago when the Giants hired him. How's that worked out? Easy to blame it on the QB, but there's been too many Daboll blow ups, issues that tells me he's a great coordinator, but not a good HC. If this was an argument the Bengals were making, outside of the one year they went to the SB, could argue the other years Taylor's record hasn't been that great so could argue, there is a much better chance of improvement than here. Same could be said about McVey in LA, one year great, but other than that, last time I checked slightly worse record than Buffalo. Look at how many teams hire new coaches and it doesn't work out, many more than do work out for the better.
  11. In most cases Taylor would be fired after this season, but that's the one advantage of working for a cheap owner. Look how long he kept Lewis. The trick in Cinny is to win in the last year of your contract, that gets you re-signed and even if you lose after that, you're safe until the contract runs out. Speaking of Lewis, is he working anywhere in the league, kind of a name that has vanished
  12. Both you and the guy in the Geico commercial.
  13. Seen a couple of articles in the media saying the Bills should trade for a backup O-line as have no depth if a starter were to get hurt. While I agree with that, it's also true that O-line players never come off the field other than for injury and at the end of a blowout game. So trading for a guy like this would be strictly for insurance only and may not even have the player active on game day. Wondering are there enough decent experienced players either on other teams practice squads or a free agent that in case of an injury could sign him for the following week. While it wouldn't help the team out during the game the player got injured in, going forward would it be just a good as trying to make a trade?? The team isn't trading for an all pro to be a backup to begin with so would it help much?
  14. Add to that with Benford being out, made them more worried about the pass.
  15. I saw that play too, but thought it was more late in the game??
  16. Wonder if he hurt a finger or two on his throwing hand. There was one play where his hand hit the hand of a player rushing him and right afterwards was holding his hand.
  17. CBS has a game, at 4:05 Eagles V Jax. Giants are playing early so standard practice not to go up against local team with a game on network without doubleheader that day, happens every week. Same reason Nashville, Atlanta, Dallas, Cinncy, and NE are not showing an early game on CBS. It doesn't happen too often in NYC are as normally with two local teams both of them on eastern timezone, one of them will always have an early game on TV. But since Jets played Thursday, only one local team.
  18. Yes this coach appears to not play the worst player at certain positions and keeps them inactive. Do I know that he's the worst, absolutely not as haven't seen him play, but neither has anyone else. Oh wait the coaches do every week in practice, maybe that means something?? It doesn't take much though to figure out that maybe the reason is simply he's the worst of the position group. Unless you think we should keep 5 S active on game day and sit someone else, it's simply a numbers game and he's the odd man out likely because he's the worst in the coaches eyes. Are they thrilled with Hamlins play, likely not, but feel it's still better than Edwards/ Wouldn't be surprised if Beane has a tentative trade worked out, just waiting for this Sundays game to end, assuming no other safeties get hurt or Hamlin or Rapp completely stink, he gets traded this week. Or may decide keeping him as an insurance policy is the best option as others pointed out.
  19. And who are they going to sign that's any better. From what I read it sounded like the guy they just cut was not better than Bass. Between the cost of cutting him and not likely finding anyone better, doubtful they will do anything unless things really get worse. But is there anyone to sign that promises to be better?
  20. Wasn't Solomon out for the Tenn game? Just started to earn snaps then missed a week,, so likely this past week was rampimg him back up.
  21. Yeah seems to me 3 biggest questionable spots for Bills are safety, LB, and DT
  22. Also reported he had a stinger in 2nd quarter
  23. So now he'll be a free agent coming off ACL injury, getting older, and last memory of his play was getting into it with close to entire Green Bay team and coach afterwards criticizing him for it. Add to that any GM would have to ask what team is willing to take, was it $29mil cap hit on a guy just to be rid of him. I'm sure some team will sign him, but with Diggs ego he will likely turn offers down that don't give him top money too for next season.
  24. Maybe this was just Allen's way of taking a subtle shot about upcoming Miami game??
  25. Yes but that's not what it sounds like the OP is suggesting. He wants to put the backups in when it was say 17-3, and say they give up a TD so now 17-10. According to him this will help the Bills learn how to win close games by being in nail biters to the very end. He wants to see the Bills win games by say only maybe 7 to 10 points, keep it close so they learn how to win these type of games better. So while I agree that can help, but the likelihood is some of these nail biters are going to become L's instead of W's just based on law of averages. I wonder if this is the same person a few years back who was arguing it's better to lose non conference games than to win them all?
