Cook signed👀 - 4 / 48 / 30 mil guaranteed
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
One of the arguments for not giving Cook big $$ is he was never a 3 own back. But that also works in his favor as for a guy his age, he doesn't have the wear and tear on him that many other RB's have. So he could have a longer high level career than others. Like you said even low use in College too. -
So I left Rochester around 18 years ago, don't think Pittsford Dairy was there then, plus I lived northwest of city so didn't get out that was very often. For the 30+ years I was there Abbotts was #1, so do question which one is better. Personally I liked Schalers better than Abbotts as was a bit "fluffier" it seemed. But Abbotts was the most talked about.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hawes will make the roster for his blocking and from everything said, he can catch the ball, just don't expect him to run much with it afterwards, but as a #3 TE there for blocking, that's fine. Thew other WR who had a good day again is Wilkerson. I like Walker, think next season he will take Jones place as has the size for it. Overall, as far as the rookies go, they all need time to learn. I think it would make more sense to keep Shenault over Coddington as either one you're keeping for the return capabilities, not their respective positional play. But the Bills have a number a players in the secondary that can fill multiple roles, Lewis, Hancock, even Hoecht at LB or DE. Think I'm leaving out someone who can play LB or S too?? But at WR they really don't have as much versatility and not sure anyone has the speed that Shenault has so in that sense, he actually brings a unique role to the team. -
Report: Micah Parsons requests a trade
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good story from the Athletic about JJ the astute GM that he is: Jerry Jones is a successful businessman, obviously. Yet he seems to misunderstand a simple concept about how salary negotiations work in the NFL: The longer you wait, the more you pay. Numerous downsides accompany his approach to negotiations, with costs including: Practice time: Where do I start? Almost every Cowboys star — from Michael Irvin in 1992 to CeeDee Lamb in 2024 — has held out during training camp and missed valuable offseason reps. Wins: In 1993, Emmitt Smith missed the Cowboys' first two regular season games, both losses, before a contract was finalized. In 2024, Lamb returned from a holdout to catch 54 percent of his targets, well below his career average of nearly 70, as Dallas started 1-2. But the most obvious cost is cash, and that is particularly true in the current case of Micah Parsons. Eligible for an extension since last offseason, Parsons was willing to wait — and Jones was happy to oblige. But when your 26-year-old superstar edge's next deal will likely reset the market, there's a tax on time. If history is any indication, Jones and the Cowboys will meet Parsons' demands. After the 2023 season, the number to beat had been Nick Bosa's $34 million average. But they waited, sidelining Parsons' deal as Justin Jefferson ($35 million), Maxx Crosby ($35.5 million), Myles Garrett ($40 million) and Ja'Marr Chase ($40.25 million) each set the bar higher. Signing Parsons today could cost $41 million per year. If the Cowboys had locked up their young star in early 2024, they could have saved roughly $6 million per year while letting new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus work with his best player throughout this training camp. Instead, they may continue to be without Parsons through Week 1 due to his unmet demands, which recently included a trade request. Part of the problem, as The Athletic's Jon Machota recently explained, is that Jones believes he and Parsons had a deal done back in March ... but Parsons’ agent wasn’t involved, and nothing was signed. 💬 Jon: "The team believed those conversations were negotiations and that it had a deal, multiple league sources said. But Parsons believed the talks were just conversations, writing that he told the Cowboys that his agent would reach out, 'thinking this would get things done.' "When Parsons’ agent attempted to start negotiations, Parsons wrote, the Cowboys declined to engage with him and told the pass rusher that they believed they already had a deal." A resolution seems unlikely any time soon, as Jones has refused to speak with Parsons' agent, thus halting negotiations. Yup, they're not even talking. Meanwhile, the price — whether it's practice time, wins or money — only goes up. But hey, you're reading about the Cowboys. That's also valuable to Jones. -
Since it was reported yesterday, he was hurt, does that mean he took an injury settlement?

Rams extend RB Kyren Williams - 3-year, $33 million
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Could be though I'd bet more on one of the two is signed and I'd lean toward McGovern.. Will be a bit surprised if both only because they also have a fair amount of O-line backups on 1st contracts too. Think you need one of them to move up to starter. -

Actually my bet is Oliver is gone next year unless he takes a big pay cut. An extension for Cook could be structured that the cap hit for this year is very little and the big $$ kicks in next year when Oliver and Samuel are gone and maybe even Knox. If some of the rookies and 2nd year folks look OK, could see some big changes next season. Free agents like McGovern, Edwards could be gone, or at least one of them. Same with D line, many young 1st contracts available. -
I got a similar deal, but through Verizon HBO Max and a discounted Netflix

Being he's a rookie, I think he starts the season on IR which allows him to observe the first is it 4 or 6 weeks, then comes back. Give more time to fully heal and to see the game from the sideline at a pro level better. Making him active for week one means cutting some other CB. So between Hairston's lack of practice time now and maybe a little lingering injury "dust" he could be an overall team liability being on the roster then as would need him to play and he likely won't be ready either physically or knowledge wise. This would allow them to keep an experienced guy like Jackson on the roster. If he was a 3 or 4 year vet, then could see him starting the year active on the team.

Do you still watch the NFL Hall of Fame inductions?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
An update from the BN, nothing mentioned about when he's leaving, but a story I read a couple weeks back stated he was heading back Friday night. A van provided by the Pro Football Hall of Fame was scheduled to pick up former Bills coach Marv Levy and his family in Chicago on Wednesday morning for the drive to Canton, Ohio. An NBC camera crew will be shadowing Levy during his visit to the Hall. -

The thing for Marv is Friday night as he will be there in Canton, but is leaving right afterwards as has to be be back in Chi Town for a signing event over the weekend. I'm guessing they will show a taped replay of about 30 seconds of Marv's celebration during the actual televised event. And I too don't watch it like I use to either. Speeches have got way too long. -
another one similar is they may keep the rookie OT and take a chance on VanDermark getting to the PS

Training camp day 3 st john fisher college
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to scuba guy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Now I know why the Bills fired their conditioning coach, saw a couple of photo's of Beane and he looks a bit out of shape. Also noticed Ferguson has some grey in his beard. Got to wonder if a player is too old and should have retired before getting grey hair? -
Looking at a photo of Highmark and seeing all the blue seats with the new stadium in the background, got me wondering. Has there anything been announced on the color of the seats in the new stadium? Will they again be blue. Have to admit Highmark does look cool from above. With the large overhang/roof on the new place, doubt it will look as good from above.

ESPN acquiring the NFL Network and the NFL Redzone
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Did it state when the Red Zone sale takes place? Wondering as with ST through YTTV, they are charging extra to buy ST with Red Zone. Doubt they will be able to offer that in future if owned by ESPN. -
One thing of every year at this time, probably the first couple of years the camp moved to Rochester, they'd include some photos of the players arriving and they'd always have one pic showing an offensive lineman carrying in one of these early day HD TV's that was about thew same size and weight of old tube TV's. Forget what they called that style but the player would be carrying in around a 32 inch model and for him the weight was probably like me carrying in my lunch bag.

But 4 of them made the playoffs. Besides the 4 on the list who's your 5th competent name? Have to say looking at his list, you can say the Bills had many down years and yes only had 5 good coaches, but look at the names on this list for other teams? Mike Smith for Atlanta, Kevin Stepanski, Wayne Fontes, Bill O'Brien and Demarco Ryan for Houston, and how can we leave out our own Doug Marrone and Doug Peterson. Kind of fitting the Jets have 3 coaches listed with an all time record with the team of under .500. See Knox made the list with 3 teams . Surprised George Allen didn't mad ethe list with the Rams too.
