Definitely agree on the lazy part. Think he had a very good defensive scheme, but like many things in football teams adjust, so in turn Rx adjusted too. But his adjustments got too complex to the point where most players couldn't run it well anymore. Recall how he had to have Jim Leonard back at safety to get everyone on right page.

There was an article today in both the Buffalo News and Athletic about the same topic, what are the Bills going to do roster wise when they get the players back both from IR and suspension. They talked about a couple of potential trade candidates or who they may release, but also touched on this discussion could all become irrelevant if anyone gets injured and someone else needs to go to IR. This could be a preemptive move in that regard. In a perfect word Strong would not have got hurt until one of these other's are ready to return, but it's not a perfect word. So this opens up Hairston's spot

One name from a long time ago from a small school was Phil Simms Was watching one of the post game shows today and the commentator was talking about Penn State struggles practically with passing and his exact words were "Penn St has paid a lot for these WR's!" The absurdity of a statement like that is wild, but it's the era we now are in. Waited as long as the could for the sake of the coaches jobs or for the good of the player?

There was an entire article a couple weeks back also in the Athletic about how QB's are mostly all being ruined today by getting them out there way to fast. But the coaches job is on the line so it's done, repeatedly. Recall years back my thought was that seemed like some of the better QB's in NFLK came from small schools as they didn't have 10 All Americans surrounding them. Hmmmmm. Do All Americans still exist or am I dating myself??

The Ray Davis-backup running back discussion
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
So based on 11 carries for the year and 8 of them came in the Jets game, likely in the 4th quarter playing with all other backups, you can figure all this out that he's no good?? -
Bills to sign Punter Mitch Wishnowsky

If not it may be by Sunday! -
The one scary thing here is if both Ravens and Bengals keep losing, they could get some decent draft picks and be even better in 2 years. I've seen that happen a bunch where a good team has injuries ends up drafting in top 10 and can reload on the fly. Fortunately they play each other and Cleveland, plus throw in Jets and Miami so may be tough for either of them to not win 5 or 6 games

The only difference is Sanders has more of a pedigree behind him and money and daddy's friends. So it will take longer before he's kicked to the curb if he's bad.

Bills to sign Punter Mitch Wishnowsky

Yeah how many teams have both a FG kicker and punter on IR at the same time? -
The play I'm talking about the Bills got called for too many men on field. On the play McD called TO, there was no penalty due to him calling TO. Think there were two separate situations?

Where is Landon Jackson ???

Not around here it's not! Folks here know immediately. -
I sometimes wonder if the Bills sort of use a Bill Walsh approach on defense as almost seems like they have scripted plays. We're going to do this and see what you do, then we will adjust as usually the team seems to play worst in Q1 on defense and gets better as game goes on. Yes I believe that was McD's complaint, they didn't give the Bills time to properly substitute. I do think the one time they were called for Too many men was on Bosa and the issue there was Bosa didn't show any urgency in getting of the field, he trotted off and slowed down as he neared the sideline. I'm guessing he will get a talking to on that one.

I had put this in another post: I saw posts on some thread questioning why draft him if he's not going to play. That answer is simple, at the end of this year both Bosa and Epenesa are free agents and even at DT Jones is likely gone along with Phillips and IMO unless Oliver either has a massive year or agrees to a pay cut he could also be gone as he has a very high cap number. And while he had a great game 1, it's hard to have a massive year when not playing so that could work against him too. Jackson very likely was drafted to replace Epenesa next season, maybe they will re-sign Bosa depending how his year goes and how much he wants, but next years D-line could look much different. PS Who the hell is McNugget? -
Time to discuss Reid Ferguson...

Just depends which end you want to be on! -
I don't know if the issue was crowd noise as much as the Saints coaches saw on film, the Bills are maybe slow to line up after plays. It also seemed like the Bills pass rush pushed forward well, but repeatedly left the middle wide open for Rattler to escape. Could again be their coaches saw this on film and knew they'd often be facing two rookie DT's so took advantage of it. Supposedly Moore was this offensive genius, maybe he is and figured all this out. Saw a stats today too that the Bills went from giving up 8.9 yards per pay in Q1 to 3.9 the last 3 quarters, so maybe they did figure things out. But do agree the coaches need to figure this out if that is what's going on.

Yes lets cut a 3rd round pick. Great idea! And yet going into this weekend the Bills were in the top 5 in pressure rate. So the Bills are affecting the QB and making him move off his spot, just not getting the sacks. I would be very hard to put Bishop in the trash can as it would be well overflowing by all the other players the fans wanted in there, starting with Spenser Brown, Coleman as you mention, Knox, Bass, and many others I can't even recall. Who should we sit instead of Jackson? The team is only going to make 4 DE's active, the only one you could possibly argue to sit would be Solomon and to me it's not at all surprising the a 5th rounder with a full year of experience under his belt can beat out a 3rd round rookie. They've also talked about how playing DE is much harder to learn everything you need to know that DT. I saw posts on some thread questioning why draft him if he's not going to play. THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – At the One-Quarter Mark
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
The reason he may have been falling down was trying to cut around White and cut too hard so White's being there caused him to slip. On NFL radio today they were talking about the same thing, that with limited pre-season, the first few weeks are like pre- season use to be and that causes the out of timing issues, penalties, etc. I also think a team like Buffalo with all the established vets likely plays the starters even less than some other team would that is turning over the roster like the Saints. -
Was listening to NFL radio earlier and they were talking about how the 3-0 Chargers had 14 penalties called on them
-
The second one was easy to explain, the Bills only had 10 men on the field on NO 2 point conversion attempt. The first one, seemed McD was arguing that NO made substitutions and the refs didn't give the Bills time to make subs after that so they couldn't get the player off the field in time. How legit Mcd's point was, hard to tell? I will say it seems opponents must be seeing something on film that shows the Bills are slow to line up as this is the 2nd week now the other team ran plays fast before the defense was set.
