In season trades are typically made either by a good team trying to get better or fill a hole and will trade a draft pick for a player and the team trading the player are in a re building mode and are going nowhere in the current season so are looking to pick up additional draft picks. Based on the 2-0 start, that doesn't seem to apply to the Bills and can't see how trading Cook would in any way make them better for the current season unless they were to get a top level player in return that fills a big hole they have and also fits into their salary cap situation without causing issues for next season either. Based on how they've played so far, while in theory the injuries left them with big holes, but so far their on field performance doesn't seem to support that. Now would I trade him in the next off-season, that's a different story assuming Davis looks decent.

The story on on the BN states it was NOT tipped, and they are quoting NFL.com who tracks these things. Not that two days from now it can't be changed to a tip??

Samuel needed to stop, then the defender would have ran him over, highly likely then would be called PI. -
Game management strategy & “The big miss”
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to WIDE LEFT's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was also pointed out by the announcers on Sunday that if the squib kick is too low and if any of the opposing players in the front line can jump up and somehow touch the ball in any way, it's the same and not reaching the landing zone and the ball comes out to the 40. So the ball needs to be high enough to easily get over the front line players heads and reach the landing zone on the fly, but still basically die before it reaches the two return men and also try and not roll it into the end zone. Add to that you probably want to angle it towards the sideline to increase the time required for the return man to get to the ball, but then have to worry about ball going out which is what happened. The rules are still all new. With all the limitations on how much time can be spent by teams in the summer during training camp. things like this have probably received little reps. Probably will take a couple of years of practice for kickers to prefect all the little wrinkles the new rules create and ways to get around them. And by the time they do, the rules will likely be tweaked again. They are already talking these rules may create too many touchbacks so will make changes to further penalize teams for kicking into end zone. They were saying likely he ball will be brought out further. -
Bills Coordinators Need To Be Much Better
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
Defense was much better in 2nd half. That's kind of cop out saying they looked good in 2nd half, but it couldn't have been that Babich adjusted. It must have been McD that made the difference. Certainly is possible, but so far I haven't heard anybody stating that. -

Yes it's all these "fans" who don't like Beane and McD so this is an easy thing to blame him for, he let him get away. But highly likely Buffalo was the last place he wanted to re-sign with. Wouldn't surprise me either if the Bills had heard rumors about this either before they drafted him, or at a minimum heard about it prior to the story breaking over the summer. Likely asked Araiza about it, and I'm sure justifiably denied it all, but maybe did withhold some info from the Bills and didn't give them the full story about what may come out. So the Bills may feel he wasn't totally honest with them either and for that reason had no desire to go after him.
-
Why would he want to sign back with the team that cut him for likely from his perception, no good reason? And not implying Bills didn't have a good reason, but player didn't agree with it.

506 Week 1 Distribution Maps
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall
could be from a ratings standpoint, they know putting a west coast team in a 1:00 time slot hurts,. Having 2 eastern time zone teams playing at 1 is better for overall ratings?? -
Someone needs to start this!! https://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2024&wk=1 One thing that surprised me was I thought last year both the first and last week of season both networks carried a double header game?? This year only Fox for week 1 This link was always one of my top 5 highlights of my week.

Here we go again with TV contract dispute
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to SoMAn's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hmm I missed that part about being able to customize multi view. That was my one gripe last season. Good to know. I have two houses so I'm able to use YTTV in both locations, saves me from paying for a Spectrum type service in two locations. In my main location my primary viewing is a TIVO DVR connected to an antenna. I just use YTTV for viewing non over the air stuff like ESPN, etc. admittedly don't use it much overall. -

The other thing that I felt I saw happen was once ATT bought DTV, they told them you can't keep giving ST out for free to so many people like you were or even DTV discounts were harder to come by. Some still got it free, but it took more effort and often wasn't as good of a deal as prior, maybe just a discount instead of free. -

ABC and ESPN are all working for me on YTTV. From what I've read the issues is only with Direct TV and it's streaming platform. This article even kind of suggests switching to YTTV to avoid issue. One of the things I've even been thinking about is seems YTTV rarely has these disputes like the other providers do. Makes me wonder if the providers are afraid of Google and don't want to get on their bad side as feel Google has to much power to hurt them in other ways? https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2024/09/02/youtube-tv-how-to-watch-disney-directv-dispute-espn/75048606007/ -
Well there's has been many posts over the years suggesting this so hard to tell who is serious and who is kidding.

So you want to reduce the practice time this player gets at WR to have him hold?? This isn't 1980 where the coach could just tell the player to stick around and extra 1/2 hour to work with the kicker. This is why back up QB's rarely hold anymore for the same reason, they don't want to further reduce the limited amount of practice time they get. And now you want top make it even worse by using a WR??
