  1. Yeah and while they will never admit it publicly, the moves they made and more the moves they didn't make says this is a reset year. Many here complaining about the WR group and how they didn't do enough, should have signed a Diggs type replacement. That's not likely happening without continuing to be up against the cap. They made moves to get younger and cheaper cap wise.
  2. Here's what one website said about that: Why is Drafting Players so Difficult? Drafting players is difficult at least in part because the scouting and evaluating part is the easy part. The more difficult part is developing the players that you drafted. How well players respond to coaching, and to a league where a player’s physical gifts are no longer a major advantage, are part of the factors that are difficult to assess pre-draft. How much work and discipline a player will exhibit after being handed millions can be an issue too. Player development may also be affected by coaching ability, team culture, and fit in the particular scheme. And there are other issues too that can impact draft success as well. Injuries. Off-field issues. Five first-round picks (of 14) for the Vikings over the last ten years had their careers derailed by injuries (Matt Kalil, Shariff Floyd, Teddy Bridgewater, Mike Hughes) or off-field incident (Jeff Gladney) that couldn’t have been anticipated in the pre-draft process. That was over a third of the Vikings’ total first-round picks. And beyond Day One picks, teams are drafting players that have either some flaws, are more raw, haven’t faced top competition, have injury or off-field issues, or some combination of all four. All that leads some of the best drafting GMs, like Eric DeCosta of the Ravens, to say the NFL Draft is a luck-driven process. And that being the case, better to have more lottery tickets than less. Rick Spielman was a firm believer in that philosophy as well, which is also based on the idea that NFL teams undervalue later round picks, and overvalue first round picks, based on the history of draft pick compensation and actual player performance from each draft pick slot.
  3. Just looked at a couple of websites, the average number of 5th rounds that stick around is very low. Depending on which site you go by, it's somewhere between 15% to 40% So no not disappointing, just normal.
  4. Every year there's some Bills play er who wins what I call the Duke Williams award given to the player who everyone here is convinced will be grabbed up in second, but doesn't. It shows you that NFL front office types and coaches, know what a true NFL roster player looks like more than most here do.
  5. True, and he's better at ST than Jonathan though not convinced Jonathan isn't the better pass rusher. Still surprised me a little. May also be the case the front office is convinced they can get Jonathan onto the PS where as Toohill may not want to join PS
  6. Realistically how do you know if he's any good or not as never seen him. Maybe that was the Bills plan, they knew what they had with him so didn't need to play him.
  7. The move that maybe surprised me the most based on everything I'd read and seen posted was keeping Toohill over Jonathon at DE
  8. Kersey was bit more surprising with all the churn the team had at LB last year. Wasn't much faith in Bernard last August. Likely only going to keep 4 DT's so you got the two starters and the 3rd round rookie, so only one spot left. From things I'd read, the only way for him to make the team would be if they kept 5 DT's, but also 2 of the the DE's can slide inside, so again made keeping 5 less likely.
  9. I don't let facts get in the way of a good argument
  10. Yeah was a bit surprised too and while I agree with your loose cannon comment, you could argue the Burrow is also a wild card in keeping him on the field. Realistically Burrow had one good year 2022, even last year he didn't start off very good.
  11. How long before Diggs demands a new deal?
  12. Bills trainers are placing banana peels and trip wires in front of specific lockers as we speak under the direction of Beane.
  13. I bought it as out of market, so easier than messing with other methods. Admittedly, the number of times Bills are on national TV does make you question if it's worth it.
  14. Think WR is near the top of list. I was against drafting two this past year as rookies need a lot of TLC and having two rookies in one year, IMO would stunt their growth. Coleman now has one year under belt, draft another and extend likely Shakir. Could also see LB and DE near the top to depends on what happens with Milano and how AJE plays. I kind of agree that if Brown walks, replacement may be in house.
  15. Well yeah it had a 400 pound weight limit, but didn't stop him from trying to sue.
  16. Recall years back when Jason Peters tore his Achilles tendon he was using one of those scooters to get around and it broke due to him exceeding the weight limit of the scooter. Last I read about it he was trying to sue the scooter manufacturer.
  17. Is this to be the 3rd string QB? OK fine, but he's not replacing Trubisky. Regardless of what you think, there's a lot to be said for being familiar with the system so very unlikely this would happen.
  18. Every year there is the Duke Williams award given to the player who if he's cut by Beane will get grabbed up another team but in end doesn't and instead ends up on the Bills PS. Joe Andreessen will be this years run away winner! Admittedly he had looked very good and with the injuries at LB, good chance he makes the 53 so we may never know. But past experiences show the front offices of teams have a better understanding of what an NFL player really looks like as these guys every year aren't often picked up.
  19. The other question to ask, do you think they'll go with 2 kickers on the 53?? 😀
  20. Well yeah guess am surprised they didn't include Rogers if for nothing else an honorary spot.
  21. That's the difference, Peyton is from the south so he listens better. He was asked to name 5 so he named 5. Herbert based on pure talent probably deserves that #5 spot and who else would you pick? I wouldn't give it to Stroud based on one year, need to see consistently.
  22. How do you figure with Mich out sounds like beyond week 1. Are they planning to bring in someone else to be the #2 guy?
  23. Are you happy now. The latest injuries are mostly on offense!
  24. McGovern has done OK, but think it's kind of a pointless move as I would be very surprised if by the 2025 season the starting center isn't SVPG so would it have been better to just roll with him this year. To me this was going to be a transition year anyway and that was prior to all the latest injuries.
  25. Did you ever think that may just maybe Araiza didn't want to come back to Buffalo. Apparently you know that wasn't the case.
