Sunday Ticket Renewal
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall
OK I don't have a choice of manage. I see the date is August though, that;'s not too bad, I was expecting it to be much sooner. -
To your point: Recall the 1967 season, the Baltimore Colts led by Johnny U hadn't lost a game all season, though they had tied the Rams earlier who were in their same division. Recall they were by far the best team in the league that year. Last game of the season they played LA again in LA led by Gabriel and the Rams beat them. There were no wild cards back then so the way the tie breakers fell Rams won the division somehow, Colts didn't even make playoffs. Green Bay knocked off Rams in first round and then went on to win SB II. As a side note believe he was from Wilmington NC area where I currently live.

Sunday Ticket Renewal
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah but with DTV even once it auto renewed, you could still cancel ST anytime up to the first week of the season. That was when you'd do the dance routine to get them to offer abetter rate. Thought I recall with YTTV once the payment is made, you're locked in and can't even cancel. -

I do have YTTV. Not sure what you define as a one off purchase, I just made one payment, but in the fine print you agreed to auto-renew, think that was why they gave the discount. Could be different with the stand alone, but kind of surprising they'd anyone off that easy when would be very easy to keep up the subscription. -
The other thing to compare is how does this compare with other positions? Is the hit/miss rate on edge rushers or CB's around the same. If I were to bet on it, I'd say they are. Just reading an article today quoting Beane as saying there are only around 25 players the Bills have first round grades on. But 32 teams will be drafting in the 1st round, so if Beane grades reflect how other teams also see it, there will be some misses there.

Pegulas selling 25% of the Bills, per Tim Graham
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe they saw the smoke coming, but didn't realize it was blowing in a different direction. Reading the article about Kevin Adams season ending presser, he implied Terry is very per-occupied with Kim. Maybe he sees the 25% owner as becoming more of a face of the franchise and he can take a back seat. Kind of like the last couple of years with RW. He was no longer attending league meeting, was sending Russ. Could be Terry feels better to send someone to represent the team who actually has a large amount of skin in the game, but no so much skin to over rule him. Article also talked about how this is becoming more popular as becoming more difficult for the heirs to keep the team in the family due to large tax issues. Initially Terry may have figured good chance Kim will out live him and she'll run things. That looks less likely now, maybe kids either don't want it, can't afford it, or none he feels are totally capable of running it?? -
Sunday Ticket Renewal

Yes but when you subscribed last year, part of the agreement in the fine print is that you agreed to turn on auto renewal. It'd really the same too, instead of a monthly subscription, you pay for a yearly subscription. I have subscriptions for ESPN+, BN and Athletic, they auto renew every year so same with ST, Now I want to turn it off. That's there way of making lots of money, with people who forget to turn it off. Think I recall to there were no refunds also on it once you subscribed?? -
I want to go into my YTTV account to turn off auto renewal so to prevent being charged full price automatically, found instructions on how to do, but when I go down to step 4 NFL ST membership is not listed. I'm wondering is that due to not being in season right now and now even offered yet, or some other reason. Can others get to step 4? Right now I'm traveling so out of home market, wondering if that could have something to do with why I can't see the membership or other reason??

Falcons and Vikings potential pick swap?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe what they are saying is if Atlanta agrees to this, Minn will drop the accusation? -
So in today's Athletic, they looked at a very similar thing. Article also stated that WR has one of the lowest rates of all position over the past 25 years in the first round. Only positions worse are TE and QB is dead last. LB has the best rate, pretty much any position on O-line has a good success rate too. Even WR drafted in the top 10 only has a 53% success rate https://theathletic.com/5405843/2024/04/10/odds-a-first-round-wr-busts-scoop-city/?source=dailyemail&campaign=601983&userId=2134925 https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2441018-which-positions-are-the-safest-riskiest-at-the-top-of-the-nfl-draft

So looking at this, my question is are there many WR drafted in lower rounds who'd earn your ++ rating, or are there just not many ++ WR's around anywhere, or is your grading curve to tough to earn the ++?
-
Exactly what the said. Add to that seems the players today can't shoot worth a lick either. Probaby cause they spend too much time practicing behind the back jams and other stuff that looks cool. Saw much better shooting watching the women play, hell they can even make free throws! Saw some amazing passing, back door cuts pick and rolls watching women. Can't figure out, are they really great passers or do the women just play lousy defense?
-
And I believe in the tooth fairy, so guess that makes us even. And very sorry you were rubbed the wrong way! So can you explain what changed from the year prior when he was much better from long distance? Lets assume you're right in that he developed a "weird motion" Maybe the coaches also figured that out or whatever did change suddenly mid season. Did he also have that same "weird motion" when he started the season think it was 10 for 10? Maybe give the guy another chance before we bring the pitch forks out, but I know around here the first sign of any drop off or if he's not a superstar his rookie year it's time to move one!

Could Dawson Knox be more of a gadget guy?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to akcash's topic in The Stadium Wall
Knox is still likely one of the best pass catching, blocking TE's in the league. Depending on what the Bills still do at WR and how much they may trust a rookie early on, maybe they will go back to more 12 personal this year like they started with last year. In that role Knox could be valuable as he's a good enough pass catcher to keep teams honest. As far as Kincaid blocking, lets see how he does as a 2nd year player before saying he can't block anyone. Likely in college he was hardly ever asked to. -
I subscribe to the Athletic and thought the article was fair when you look at the results over the entire season. The last 7 weeks gave us hope in certain areas like WR with guys like Shakir and Kincaid at TE, but we don't yet know if its sustainable over and entire year. We came in 2nd and he added a disclaimer "If we grade the quarterback position on a curve, the Bills would bring it closer, clearly." As to your concerns on the O-line, he actually gave us the best grade in the division there. Having said that overall I'm not that worried about the players lost either, biggest concern right now to me is WR. While Diggs struggled at the end, he still does make the defense game plan for him. Second position is to me is safety. Below is the final rankings form the article. Most of the area where the Jets were ranked better was on defense BTW. He ranked the Jets #1 on every defensive position except safety, they were ranked dead last and Bills were 3rd

Exactly the problem. Anything higher than a 6th rounder moved to PS is likely to get grabbed up. Add to that, regardless how good/bad you think Mitch is, he still is better than a rookie 5th/6th rounder this fall if Allen were to get hurt and miss a couple games. Maybe if the guy sits at least on year on PS preferably two years, I'd trust a guy like that to be Allen's backup rather than cast off like Mitch. Even then if he's on PS for 2024, I believe his contract would end then next March unless he agrees to re-up with Bills. But why would a guy resign when he knows he's not likely to make the roster in 2025 either, he'd be better off signing elsewhere where he has a better shot. Can't see how any young development QB would want to sign in Buffalo when they know they have no shot of ever starting. These guys need to go to teams like in 2023 Giants, NE, Pitt, where you're not going in as the #!, but you also know the #1 QB is on shaky ground, and their #2 has been around the block a few times himself so you could end up becoming the starter with just a little bit of luck and good play on your part. You draft him, yes the Bills have him for 2024, but once on PS, low odds of keeping him beyond this year.
-
And then came back and won the AFC East and #2 seed
-
I wonder if was more simply that Diggs didn't like Allen getting all the attention and being the face of the franchise. He felt he should be getting more credit. Add to that less targets.

Poyer talks about 13 seconds
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JakeFrommStateFarm's topic in The Stadium Wall
When I first saw the title of the thread I was hoping that Poyer was going to explain what happened on the kick, but not a word about that. To me that is the bigger question mark in that whole situation. As someone else in the thread pointed out the Pats scored a TD with 16 seconds left so really hard to say the played the wrong defense. But a squib kick would have eaten into that time. In the thread on the new kickoff rules I questioned with the new rules will squib kicks even be done anymore and probably not as technically the ball first touched the ground in what do they call it the dead zone?? As a result believe the receiving team would now have the ball at the 40 so doubtful they'd be done anymore?? -

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JakeFrommStateFarm's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe coaching yes, but did you ever consider he was also saying the players were all better? But I get it, that wouldn't fit your narrative. -
Naw! If we're going secondary in round 1, the guy I want is the CB from Alabama. He's listed as going in the late 20's so not a reach and likely different folks will have him ranked all over the place. Josh Allen was ranked all the way from #1 overall to a 4th rounder. But I want this guy so we can say we have a CB named Kool Aid on the team!

NFL Season's Second Game on Peacock and not National TV
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to sleeby's topic in The Stadium Wall
As long as NBC is wiling to pay them likely even more than they'd get for putting game on regular TV, not a really a big issue for NFL. Yes they'd like higher viewership, but more importantly is the money they are getting. And as other have commented, there are plenty other games on platforms other than broadcast, so just one more. -
New kick off rule voted thru by owners
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
So WRT the 13 second KC kickoff return, will squib kicks no longer be attempted since the ball first must touch the ground in the "landing zone" Also a good chance may kick the ball into one of the teams own players who'd have their back to the kicker??
