  1. We'd have to come up with 3 very solid starters to consider this OL even average. That assumes that Dawkins can be moved to RT where he belongs and Teller will be better than any other interior OL on the roster (which isn't saying much). Our starters are all backup caliber except Dawkins, who is playing out of position. He was fine at LT in college, but has really struggled in pass protection these last 2 games.
  2. He can't be worse, but his best days are a distant memory and I emphasize "distant" here.
  3. Maybe give him a chance to learn the playbook first and see how it goes??? I doubt he'll amount to much, but at least give him a chance. We're thin BEHIND Zay Jones? What? Did ZJ suddenly become a capable receiver and no one has noticed?
  4. Clay should have been able to run full speed and catch the ball in stride if it was well thrown. Clearly the ball was very badly underthrown. I thought I was watching one of EJ Manuel's wounded ducks or something.
  5. And I got flamed for saying that if Groy couldn't even beat out Wood (who was one of the worst starting centers in the league and had been for years) that he is not starter material. It seems I was correct. The Bengals, who had perhaps the very worst OL in the NFL last year let Bodine walk without so much as an offer. That's how bad he was. These are the 2 candidates for the starting job at C. Sad. Mills is starting yet again as we continue to fail to find a starter-capable replacement.
  6. Josh made 2 or 3 really bad throws all on his own because he didn't set his base when he had time to do so. Still, we could pay a bunch of guys off the street that could block better than our OL. They're a total embarrassment. This is as bad as I've seen in 58 years of following the Bills. DON'T start Josh until this OL gets fixed. I don't care if I have to wait until 2019 to see him in a game again. Another rap like that on the head and his career will be over before it begins.
  7. Right. I don't want to discuss it. That's why I'm discussing it so much.
  8. Calm down lol. Your arguments would be much more effective if you left the personal remarks out.
  9. I gave an opinion. Then I asked others to share theirs. Standard operating procedure.
  10. Many teams have bad OL's now. The difference is that our OL struggled last year too. Then we lost 3 starters with several probowls between them and did nothing to upgrade those vacated spots. This isn't the same as "every year" by a longshot. I liken this to the year Brandon was GM and dismantled the OL and Trent, who'd played well up to that point, got his brains scrambled. I don't think this is going to be OK.
  11. If they play better, why not? Why the attitude?
  12. When you say they don't develop QB's well, I think that's on the coaches and we've had a lot of turnover there. I'm not sure the past is very relevant hto that point, but I won't argue with the rest.
  13. I suspect that there are a few backups that could win a starting job here, though.
  14. Not in recent years anyways. I think they will eventually replace a couple guys with marginal talent. That's probably as good as it gets. You don't want to just change the names on the OL, but I expect that after watching more film of this nightmare, they will deem 1 or 2 guys as just not up to par with NFL level ability.
  15. I guess that depends what you're willing to give up.
  16. You may be right, but I bet Beane will at least make some calls and perhaps be a little more generous. JJ Watt must be hungry to play against us. Marcell too. Someone they'd have to offer too much for, but this is really bad.
  17. Forget Mack for now. We need a serious influx of pass protection. I won't beat that point to death. If you don't believe it by now, you never will I don't see much talent out there in FA. What other option is there? Our QB's are in for a long season if this isn't addressed. They thought they could sit tight for a year until we get some cap space, but now I'm not so sure? Am I overreacting? Your thoughts?
  18. This is EXACTLY right. This OL isn't bad. There is not a starter worthy player on that OL with the exception of Dawkins and he should be playing RT or G. Assumiong the talent is there, we need to spend that very high 1st round pick in 2019 on a franchise LT.
  19. He masked the weakness of our OL, but that won't happen this year. This offense will be bottom 3. Bank on it. The defense will be below average. Get ready to draft the best OL in the draft next Spring.
  20. I rest my case. If this is not the worst OL in the NFL, it must be the 2nd worst. Our WR's can't get open either. Clearly, this defense has been vastly overrated by many. I'll get flames as usual, but our OL was terrible last year and our 2 best OL are gone and we did nothing to raise the talent level up front. Sit Allen before he gets killed back there! This OL is going to see a lot of 3 and 4 man rushes getting to our QB. Like I said. GET JOSH OUT NOW before he gets killed and find ANYONE that can block and sign them.
  21. Of course they did. The real questions are what do we trade and is he worth the price.
  22. They had Flacco in place, so they had an edge. Too bad. I really wanted him to come here. He has world class speed and would be great with Allen.
  23. To paraphrase Mick Jagger, I just can't seem to drink them off my mind.
  24. I will be extremely angry if they take another LB in the 1st round when we have such a horrible OL and no deep threat. Fix the OL before you get all of our QB's killed!
