How Many Bills Wins in 2018 Reg. Season?
GreggTX replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not if they are smart and wait until Allen is ready and has something around him to work with. Also, we'll have a ton of cap space to work with after this season. Patience. -
How Many Bills Wins in 2018 Reg. Season?
GreggTX replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. We will have 2 high draft picks -- probably a top 3 to boot. We will hopefully get some OL help in this draft. I say that because it's easier to find decent WR help in FA if you have cap space because teams just aren't likely to let quality OL go when there are so few to go around these days. We also have to get help at CB, LB, DT along with several OL positions like both G spots and C. Draft a LT, move Dawkins to the right side and replace the entire interior of this OL. -
We didn't sell the ranch for Nate Petermann and whoever plays behind this OL is likely going to get hurt. Josh Allen already came within a hair's breadth of sustaining a concussion in just 1 half against a starting defense. Let's try to keep him alive, shall we? I know many are excited to see the rookie, but wisdom >> impatience. Let's not screw up Allen for future years.

[Vague Title] The Sky Is Not Falling
GreggTX replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No the sky is not "falling". It is "fallen". Don't worry. We'll have lots of extra cap space next year. Hopefully they won't sign any backup caliber players for solid starter money like they did with Lotulelei. -
Saints trade 3rd round pick for Teddy Bridgewater

We should have made that trade. Allen came with no guarantees and what else we got? OBD asleep at the switch. -

Good. A little objectivity for a change.

Bills are playing a little "Rope A Dope" with the AFC
GreggTX replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are pretending that none of our OL actually know how to block and that they want Allen to get killed. They sure had me fooled. I bet they're just pretending the defense can't stop the run too -
Every Josh Allen snap in Bengals Preseason Game 3

OL what I would like to see happen TOMORROW
GreggTX replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'd have to come up with 3 very solid starters to consider this OL even average. That assumes that Dawkins can be moved to RT where he belongs and Teller will be better than any other interior OL on the roster (which isn't saying much). Our starters are all backup caliber except Dawkins, who is playing out of position. He was fine at LT in college, but has really struggled in pass protection these last 2 games. -
He can't be worse, but his best days are a distant memory and I emphasize "distant" here.

Every Josh Allen snap in Bengals Preseason Game 3

Clay should have been able to run full speed and catch the ball in stride if it was well thrown. Clearly the ball was very badly underthrown. I thought I was watching one of EJ Manuel's wounded ducks or something. -

And I got flamed for saying that if Groy couldn't even beat out Wood (who was one of the worst starting centers in the league and had been for years) that he is not starter material. It seems I was correct. The Bengals, who had perhaps the very worst OL in the NFL last year let Bodine walk without so much as an offer. That's how bad he was. These are the 2 candidates for the starting job at C. Sad. Mills is starting yet again as we continue to fail to find a starter-capable replacement. -

Josh made 2 or 3 really bad throws all on his own because he didn't set his base when he had time to do so. Still, we could pay a bunch of guys off the street that could block better than our OL. They're a total embarrassment. This is as bad as I've seen in 58 years of following the Bills. DON'T start Josh until this OL gets fixed. I don't care if I have to wait until 2019 to see him in a game again. Another rap like that on the head and his career will be over before it begins. -
Right. I don't want to discuss it. That's why I'm discussing it so much.

Calm down lol. Your arguments would be much more effective if you left the personal remarks out.

I gave an opinion. Then I asked others to share theirs. Standard operating procedure.

Many teams have bad OL's now. The difference is that our OL struggled last year too. Then we lost 3 starters with several probowls between them and did nothing to upgrade those vacated spots. This isn't the same as "every year" by a longshot. I liken this to the year Brandon was GM and dismantled the OL and Trent, who'd played well up to that point, got his brains scrambled. I don't think this is going to be OK.

If they play better, why not? Why the attitude?
