  1. Our LB corps and OL don't suck? Sorry to break it to you, but they do. Also, Humber was AWFUL last year and Dawkins is nowhere near a "top" LT yet. The rest of the OL consists of backup caliber players. Lorenzo will probably lose his startind job if they bet a replacement in rd 4 or sooner. Milano, at least made progress and still may have upside, but still has along way to go.
  2. Dead on about starting a rookie QB behind our OL. McCarron could be in for a long season. Richie and Cordy were our 2 best OL by far and I don't expect all 5 OL positions to be filled by capable starters even if Dawkins makes big strides in his 2nd season. Besides, who is he going to throw to? Our WR's were dead last in gaining separation last year according to PFF.
  3. My belief is that we played above our talent level last year and now have unproven QB to boot. We'll get a few wins, but not very many and I'm OK with that. Even with all of our draft picks we are still a couple offseasons away. Beane has made some good moves and at least 1 questionable move in overpaying Lotulelei. If he has a good draft, gets the righr QB and spends next year's cap space wisely, we could be contenders in 2019.
  4. They're right. Lotulelei is barely an upgrade over Adolphus Washington. Now we're stuck with him for 5 years and we could probably gotten him for less than half of what we're paying. I like nothing about this signing at all. I think he's basically a solid backup. How do you know they're grading based soley on sacks or did you just make that up? Face it. They overpaid him. He's just not very good.
  5. He's long past his prime. Pass. Fill another hole with a FA and draft a replacement if that's all that's available at G.
  6. I'm wondering if the "racist remarks" charges factored in here on some level. Remember McDermott's reaction to a question about these charges at a press conference? Just wondering. Also, Richie's salary now comes off the cap, so we will likely be adding a veteran FA sooner rather than later. It might be somthing other than an OL, but if it plugs a hole, that would allow us to spend more draft pick(s) on the OL instead of elsewhere.
  7. 100% agree. QB remains the #1 priority by a mile. Remember that we just dropped Richie's salary too so we will likely be adding another veteran OL soon.
  8. We have WAY too many other holes to fill. I'd have been surprised if we won 6 games in 2018 anyways. We really are a likely candidate for worst OL in the league now. The best OL on our roster right now is Dawkins and he is below avg. He also needs to move to RT or G. The rest of the OL is a disaster and don't bother trying to tell me that Groy is good. Wood was one of the 2 or 3 worst starting C's in the NFL and had been for years and Groy couldn't take his job? I bet Shady is hoping he gets traded. He could be in for his toughest year yet.
  9. Yes it will LOL. This is our biggest draft in years and it's taking too long to get here.
  10. If the Broncos get Mayfield, this draft ends before it gets started. Then again, I think Elway sticks with Keenum for now and gets him some help on offense at 5. We send Hughes back to Indy along with 12 and 22, draft Mayfield and get lots of picks on day 2 to fill holes. I'd be OK with a guy the draftniks say has the most accurate arm in this class.
  11. He's negotiating a new contract and there's a lot of haggling because of his price/value. He skipped 1 day of voluntary activity. Nothing out of the ordinary.
  12. My best guess is as follows. They have 2 top prospects in mind (Rosen & Mayfield?) and planC option (Rudolph or Jackson). They will wait until one of their top options is gone and try to trade up with the next team that isn't expected to pick a QB. If a team not expected to go QB surprises us and grabs the other top-2 guy, they stay put and get a plan C guy at 12. Eli had his worst season and was even benched for a game. I consider this a likely option.
  13. That's pretty optimistic all right. Rosen at 7! Idon't know about the guys you have for day 3 t, but I wouldn't mind seeing us get an OT and a C in this draft.
  14. I think starting at the 35 is overly generous.I'd start them at the 20 or 25. I guess they figure more points equals more fans. Personally, I'm tired of seeing all these 30 or 40 point games. Stop flagging DB's for contact 5+ yards downfield when the QB still has the ball. Let them play defense instead of just being spectators. I'd like to see the PAT changed too. They could put a 2nd set of uprights just behind the 1st set and closer together. That way you still have the optionof faking the kick for 2. I also think the scoop and score for only 2 pts on PAT's is bogus as well.
  15. Yup. Every one of these top 5-6 QB's comes with a few red flags. There is no Peyton Manning in this draft class.
  16. I can't see any reason to take Rudolph before the very late 2nd round. Yes, some team might reach for him. Yes, he may turn out better than predicted, but most draftniks say he will be very average. I wouldn't mind taking him late on day 2 as a 2nd option, but please not in round 1. Great? I think that's a stretch. How about "much better"?
  17. I don't see how the D has gotten better, but I hope you're right. I see Murphy as a very avg DE and Lotulelei as a well below avg DT. A lot of people are focused on the fact that he was a 1st round pick, but his performance has been steadily slipping and last year he really played poorly. I really hope he can reach or exceed the level he played at as a rookie, but I'll believe it when I see it. I get that his job is to occupy blockers, but he still can't shed blocks to save his life. On top of that, Kyle and Lorenzo saw their play deteriorate considerably last year. I'm thinking Hughes will be traded also which means our DL will be one of the weakest in the league. I sure hope they prove me wrong though or it's going to be a long season.
  18. With only the guys we have under contract right now, I think 4 wins is our ceiling, but we have a lot of high draft picks to work with. I am hoping we get that desperately needed franchise QB and 1 other very good starter. So much is up in the air right now and I hesitate to second guess Beane because this is his 1st draft and I was very unimpressed with the guys he brought in to play S for us. I was so pleasantly surprised when both Poyer and Hyde turned out to be probowl caliber players. Now I am hoping that same eye for talent works for this draft. 3 weeks and counting. Tick tock tick tock... Bonus prediction: Hughes will be part of a draft day 1 trade with the Giants who need a pass rusher and Murphy will be our new starting RDE.
  19. True dat. If you have a shortage of elite QB's, it makes the outcomes too predictable. QB will always be the most important position, but it doesn't have to be so ridiculous.
  20. I couldn't agree more, OP. Let's bring back bump 'n run. Let the DB's play football again. The passing game has become anticlimactic and WR's have it WAY too easy. Heck, OL couldn't even extend their arms back when I was in school, but I think that rule should be the same for offense and defense.
  21. B- so far. The trade down and subsequent selection of White was the best move of any team. So far, Dawkins is average and Jones is well below average. They cancel out, so to speak. Other than that, Milano is below average, but good value. I'd like to see us get much better value in round 2 as Dawkins and Jones move forward. Let's also keep in mind that the ENTIRE player personnel dept has been replaced since that draft. We're in uncharted territory for 2018. This draft is taking WAY too damn long to get here.
  22. Not so fast. We might be able to get a decent QB at 6 and still ha e some picks. Then next year we'll have a lot more for FA's. Trading up to 2, I agree, could be far too expensive. Having a good QB is also a good way to attract good FA's at reasonable rates.
  23. If we got Vander Eshe and Washington in those spots, I'd be happy, but overall, I'd like more emphasis on the OL. I don't expect it though because we've signed multiple OL and CB's in FA.
  24. Bledsoe's career numbers far exceed anyone else's on this list. Trent was very good before the concussion too. He was terrible after he got his brain rattled though.
  25. It will happen on draft day, I think. They probably hsave a trio of QB's in mind and will make the move when 2 of them are gone or something like that. That's my guess. That way they get to keep as many day 1-2 picks as possible and still get a guy they like. Either that or they will do something completely different. Well, that about covers it. I wish the draft would hurry up and get here so we can stop guessing.
