  1. We don't need a new stadium at all. There's nothing wrong with the current venue. NFL owners spew this nonsense to get the govt to cough up money and people believe it. I have never in my life taken 'stadium cost' into consideration when deciding whether or not to attend a game. I'd rather they spent the money educating our children and paying teachers a decent wage.
  2. Watching the 2nd half of the Carolina game, it was pretty clear that Allen has problems with accuracy. Sometimes he's right on the money and other times he missed badly. So I wonder. I've seen a lot of QB's come and go and I've seen very few, if any, that have been able to fix an inaccurate arm. I know Eli Manning was strictly a bomber when he started and he learned to work the short game and to throw with touch, but was he inaccurate? EJ Manuel never fixed that problem. Will this be Josh's downfall or can coaching and practice get him to be more accurate because I really believe that if it doesn't improve considerably, it could sink his career like it did to EJ. How can you retrain an arm like that?
  3. There were questions about his technique coming out, but I think he answered his doubters tonight. I'll be watching him closely.
  4. The camp bodies around him and on the 2nd half defense played poorly, but that's no surprise. Most of them will be gone soon anyways. I too would like to see him get that chance, but even so... I saw some good things, but I also saw that his reputation for inaccuracy is well founded. It wasn't all bad, though. He might have been able to hit that deep ball to Foster if he'd kept running, but a couple throws were way off.
  5. I really doubt he'll be the starter, but what I know is that a LOT of people have ignored everything else he's ever done and judge him only by the 1st half of last year's Chargers game.
  6. Yup. An extremely DOMINANT defense is what you'd need.
  7. Yeah, you can still win a SB with defense maybe 10% of the time and the other 90% comes down to O, mostly passing. It used to be mostly about running and D. Also, I wouldn't dismiss the wins by Brady, Wilson and Manning. Peyton might not have had the best arm any more, but he was probably the smartest QB of the modern era. He was very proud of his work ethic and preparedness. Also, NE's defense is usually good, but you dismis Brady too easily IMO. On the other hand, the run game could make a comeback if the shortage of quality O Linemen were to end.
  8. His talent certainly is exceptional, but even if Allen is elite and Coleman finds new life, we are desparate for OL help . So I have to ask how much first. Also, he would replace either Murphy or Hughes or Shaq and they could be part of that trade too. Maybe we could put him at SSLB where we need to find Lo's replacement, but I think his talent is wasted there. I'd put him at RE (again, if we have enough free space to rebuild our OL.)
  9. We just don't know the whole story, but this is hardly the 1st time Richie has acted wacky for no apparent reason. I thought he was doing better, but I guess not. The accusations after the JAX playoff game still resonate here.
  10. I think it's much like the old rule with a simpler and clearer definition.
  11. Where is the cap space coming from? Never mind. He'll resign with the Raiders. Negotiating tactic.
  12. I question the notion that it is the NFL that wants a new stadium. Why do they care? They aren't in the construction business and the stadium in OP is fine as is. I could see putting a roof on it, but let's use use the rest of that money for education. Good for the local economy.
  13. And they had problems before they lost 3 starters. I'm not as hopeful as some. I think this could be a very difficult year for the O. Points may be few and the pass protection will be leaky.
  14. O'Leary could rather easily be replaced by a better 2nd TE, but it's not a priority with the WR's, OL and QB positions unsettled as well as some spots on D.
  15. He's a decent backup RB and a considerably better option than anyone other than McCoy or Ivory. If the price is right, he'd be an upgrade for RB depth.
  16. Because he is the next best LB in the NFL after Von Miller. Because he makes game changing plays. Because he'd be the best pass rusher on our roster. Because we need help at LB and can likely find more OL help in the draft than in FA because teams aren't letting good OL walk much these days.
  17. I hope you're right, but I fear that you are greatly overestimating the talent on our defense.
  18. I disagree. There are better LB's available for a backup job and I'd rather develop a younger guy there than a proven nontalent in his 30's.
  19. This offense was ranked #1 WORST position group in the entire NFL. Bottom line: high potential with high risk. Get some serious help on the OL, WR, TE and RB before starting Allen. I think the odds are against him, but I really hope he's our franchise QB.
  20. I think your analysis is spot on. Next year Allen should be ready and we will have more than $100,000,000 to spend on surrounding him with talent. Let's hope Beane knows what he's doing.
  21. So you're saying... There IS a chance?
  22. It will look a LOT like his offenses in Cleveland -- stuck in neutral.
