  1. I offer an assistant coaching position to learn the ropes and keep him in the organization.
  2. Patience. We are still a couple years away. They won't say it, but they are committed to a longer process. Step 1 is to try to get a QB that can take us to the top. We aren't going to win the SB in 2018.
  3. It's amazing how many Bills fans don't want us to shoot for the stars, but would happily overpay a vet qb that is only marginally better thanTT. Some want us to get rid of Glenn and Hughes or let a backup caliber player be our next starting C. I want the Lombardi Trophy and we'll never get there if we keep aiming for 'just OK'. Good point kdiggz. I agree 100%.
  4. Interesting, but silly. It's hard enough to figure out how the first 4 picks will go, let alone 4 whole rounds. 99% of all mocks will not get further than pick 16 all correct. Still, it's kinda fun to read these.
  5. The fact that Frazier was interviewed for a HC job says it all. Our front 7 is TERRIBLE right now. Hughes is better than many Bills fans seem to think, but he can't do it alone. Lorenzo was very average and Milano was below average, but still has some upside IMO. With Kyle well past his prime and likely to call it quits and Shaq a HUGE bust, we have nothing at all on the D front to get excited about. Hughes could return to double digit sacks if we had at least 2 more very good DL, but we don't. Our DT position is TOTALLY bereft of talent. We don't even have a decent backup DT on the roster right now. We have a ton of work to do before this D is great, but Frazier gives me hope.
  6. I think we were a 6-10 team last year and we got very lucky. It is going to take at least 2 offseasons to make this team a serious threat to go all the way and that's assuming that most every move they make goes right. You are a refreshing, visionary poopy head. Feel better now?
  7. The only FA DL I'm interested in at this point are Poe, who is very slightly above average and Lawrence, whom the Cowboys have said they will tag if they can't come to terms. Shaq is a bust, but I'm hoping some other team will trade us a 4th round pick for him. I doubt it, though. Kyle was still above average last year, but given the rate of decline in his performance level over the past 3 years, I see no reason to believe that he'll be even an average DT in 2018 if he even decides to return. Then everyone wants top trade Hughes, who is the only good DL we have left on the roster. We could really be hurting on that DL in 2018.
  8. There will be someone there at 21. There will be several FA QB's signed before the draft (I hope) and if not, they should trade up. As far as a QB fitting the system, I disagree entirely. A franchise QB is a rare commodity. You draft him 1st and you taylor the offense (no pun intended) to fit him, not the other way around. I think that's a huge mistake that many coaches make, like Rex trying to get his overly complicated D to work with a defense that performed much better with less talent under Frazier.
  9. I suspect that keeping all of our day 1 and 2 picks would be the best course because some QB needy teams will sign one of these average to very slightly above average FA QB's before the draft and look elsewhere. Still, if they really think Rosen is a future star, then go for it. In either case, I just want them to understand that rebuilding starts at the QB position -- something Whaley never grasped. Everything else is secondary. Then we have a gaping hole at LT. Dawkins is not a very good pass blocker and should be moved to the right side. Glenn has played well when healthy. We already have a hole at C too and we are weak at RG. Richie is 34. Let's not be so quick to give away one of only 2 remaining OL that have played well in the past. We have around a dozen holes to fill on our roster right now. Let's not keep adding more. I'm anxious to see how Glenn can move and if he still has pain in that bad foot since his 2nd surgery. No one ever seems to take that into account. Oh and no team is very likely to let a good OT walk anyways. They are a rare species these days. Do you really want Mills to be our starting RT again? He's as good or better than anyone else we'll be able to sign as a FA.
  10. Then someone will have to release a better DT than what's on the market right now because there aren't any really good DT's available right now.
  11. Star L. is not a good DT. He is very much below average. I suspect he'll be hanging around for a long time and will sign for far less than he got as a high draft pick. Poe is a tick above average. They will need to draft a DT in the 1st or 2nd round in either case. They signed Tolbert when it should have been clear that he had nothing left to offer. I hope they don't make that same mistake with Star L. They will also need to upgrade the depth at DT, which shouldn't be too hard.
  12. 1. EJ Gaines is a tick above average. He can easily be replaced, if need be. Some people seem to think he's a great CB. He's not. He's just OK. I don't think Davis was signed to be a starter, but he can provide solid depth. He is significantly better than Wright or Johnson. To say that EJ is ten times the player is simply not in line with reality. He's probably better than EJ right now, but ten times? That's ridiculous. 2. What if we draft a rookie QB and he's not ready to start for a while? Do you really want to vastly overpay a veteran that's only a very little bit better (or not at all) to a multiyear contract, only to have to eat tens of millions in dead money when the rookie is ready to start? I'm not thrilled about Tyrod either, but I want to find our next HOF QB to take us to the promised land. Signing someone like Cousins and paying him twice what he's worth and then eating dead money for years afterward makes no more sense than the contract Nix gave Fitz. Some people seem to think these QB's that other teams are jettisoning are great QB's. They aren't. They are place holders that will be paid more than they are worth. I hope we don't sign any of them. That's why they are becoming FA's. Don't be fooled by the hype. Just let the rookie sit behind Tyrod for a year, if need be. When Tyrod's contract is up, assuming we can't trade him, he walks and we eat $0 of dead money. We aren't winning the SB this year anyways. It will take at least 2 years and this assumes that Beane drafts well (which has yet to do) and the new OC who has had very limited success in the NFL turns out to be really good.
  13. I'm done trying to guess. If we had a top 5 pick, I'd take a shot at it, but there are soooo many possibilities and Beane doesn't even know how this will play out yet. I do know this, though. There will be thousands of mock drafts before draft weekend and 99.9% of them will be way off.
  14. WR Deonte Thompson WR Brandon Tate CB EJ Gaines CB Leonard Johnson or CB Shareece Wright S Colt Anderson - decent backup S Shamarko Thomas - Good ST player Exclusive Rights Free Agents TE Nick O’Leary - Time to part ways. Replace him with Ladarius Green. TE Logan Thomas - Does he have untapped potential? DE Eddie Yarbrough - solid backup
  15. I suppose he'd be OK for our 3rd string QB, but I'd rather just draft a longshot for that job.
  16. Me too. I think we're in the minority, though. It's like when the AL decided that pitchers no longer had to take an at bat and they inserted the DH. It reduces the strategic element of baseball. In football, it has made TD's less exciting and FG's an absolute snoozer. I remember when great defenses could get a shutout or 2 in a season. I love it when the Bills get one.
  17. There will be a ndfull of TE's in FA that would be significant upgrades over O'Leary and Thomas. If Graham shakes loose he could be our best receiver at any position.
  18. Brown is maybe a tick above avg and has world class speed. I don't even want Landry and he won't come here anyways. Green Bay might have to let one of their starters (Randal Cobb?) walk, but if we are going to be a run heavy offense, some WR's might not want to come here. Maybe we should upgrade the TE position first???
  19. Do we really want to trade Shady, even at 30, for a backup QB? Granted he'd be a solid backup, but no. That's poor value.
  20. Throw in Shaq and make it a package deal. I don't think they'll get any offers, but I hope they do.
  21. He struggles against the press and his route running is terrible. I can't blame Taylor for that.
  22. I suspect it will be Rudolph or Jackson. Jackson has accuracy issues related to impatience. He rely's on arm strength and doesn't always get set before throwing. If that can be corrected, look out because he has everything else and can always add a few pounds. Fixing accuracy/footwork can be a thorny problem, though. From what I've read, Rudolph will be a good but not great NFL QB. He is pro ready, though. At least that's what I've read. I don't want to see us squander a ton of picks for Rosen. Too many question marks. All I know about Allen is that he only hit 53% of his passes. That's a major red flag.
  23. Clearly it's time to move on from O'Leary. He's been a real disappointment and I don't expect him to be resigned. I think Ladareus Green would also be a good signing. He'd help our passing game.
