Jonah Williams is a possibility too. Go speed WR next, then C? We also need a stud CB opposite TW like Greedy Williams. My early guess is that Oliver goes #1 and in any case, I doubt weight concerns would scare the Bills off. He could even be a guy that gets moved around to keep offenses guessing or to exploit matchups on the other team's OL. He could also add weight. We'll see.

Draft Network Senior Analyst Joe Marino on WGR-550 Today
GreggTX replied to Fadingpain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mills is a backup caliber OT on a good day, but the weakest spot on the OL is C. Both of those positions must get a serious upgrade as well as some competition at G. Add 2 solid WR's with great speed and KB will have a bounce back season. We need to be able to stretch the field and hit big plays. 3rd down % needs to go up too. Daryl Williams isn't quite probowl caliber, but he's a HUGE improvement over Mills and much better than any OL on our roster by a considerable margin. Dawkins is kinda close, but no other OL on our roster is anywhere near him. -
Per WR John Brown, he turned down a 3 yr deal from Bills

He had 3 choices and we were his 3rd choice. No matter. We'll have to hope we can sign someone decent in a few month. I'm hoping we draft a stud LT from 'Bama in round 1, but however it plays out, I have little doubt we'll be much better in 2019. I hope our next stadium has a roof because I think that would also help to attract talent. How much, I'm not sure, but it can't hurt. -
If we March Peterman out there again...I will....

Stop whining. -
The defense is better than people think because they get no help from the offense. Add another good outside CB and DT/DE and they are looking solid. The OL needs a solid LT and C at least. 2 WR's and we have to hope Allen is the real deal. There are other positions that should get bolstered, but if those 5/6 positions, if upgraded considerably and Allen lives up to their expectations, we'd be a serious contender. With all the picks and cap space they'll have, this is very doable.

I just ordered my Derek Anderson jersey and look what happens !!! If that don't beat all.

CB, DT? DE? Definitely a CB, though. Depth at TE would be nice. They just can't come right out and say it because it will hurt ticket sales.

How does a QB deficient team pass on Mahomes/Watson
GreggTX replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously Whaley and his scouts weren't that high on them. They are all long gone so why worry about it now? -
I 'm not going to assume anything at this point. I thought Poyer was a bad move at the time and he's been very good. Lotulelei is playing a little better each month too. I think he has a shot at this, but his biggest test is still coming this offseason. I know he'll make mistakes, but if he has 2 hits for each miss, we'll be a much better team in 2019.

For what? How can I answer if I know only that he is gone and not the other half of the bargain? I'm not impatient so I don't want to just unload him for a day 3 pick. Nor do I want to unload K Benjamin for 1 bad season when we have the worst crop of WR's and QB's in the league around him as well as a very weak OL. Shady has a couple good years left and KB may not be great, but he has always been good until now. If I'm Beane, I'm not going to panic and make a trade that I'll regret later. I guess getting old does that. It gives you better perspective on the long term.

Other than Kyle and Lo, there isn't a player on that list that couldn't easily be replaced. None of them would be missed. Trade Clay for a 7th??? That's a really dumb move. I know he fumbled, but he's a better than average TE and you'll move him to draft a player that probably won't even make the roster? This is why you aren't a GM.

They don't always "overhaul" rosters. Every roster changes from year to year. That said, new coaches are usually hired when a team hasn't been winning, so more turnover is usually justified.

Players that need replaced in 2019 for the Bills to succeed?
GreggTX replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have a different perspective on some of this because of my age. I've learned to take the long view. I wouldn't be so quick to dump K Benjamin or C Clay as many of you are. They are still our 2 best receivers and our QB's definitely have to shoulder a big part of the blame for their lack of production as well as the coaches. I'd like us to add a great WR with world class speed on the outside opposite Benjamin and a great slot WR to replace Jones and then let's see if Allen can raise his game. I'd make a trade with Shady to draft his replacement, but only if we can get a fairly high 2nd round pick or better. Fix the rest of the offense and I think he can still be great for a couple more years. Rebuild the OL. Get a new LT and move Dawkins to RT. Definitely get a new C and 1 starting G. Then let Teller and Miller and Ducasse fight for the other starting spot. On defense, Murphy is average at best, so I have no problem replacing him and I doubt Shaq will be resigned. I'd very much like to keep Hughes, though. We also need another great CB to play outside. As far as Kyle's replacement goes, It might be Harry Phillips, but we'll have to wait and see how he progresses. Clearly we need to look for Lorenzo's replacement. As far as our young players go, Edmunds is still a concern. He hasn't played very well. He isn't awful, but despite what his coaches say about him, I don't see any real progress from him or Zay Jones. Taron Johnson is a keeper, though. Maybe draft a CB in late rounds to develop and possibly challenge him. Phillips may become a starter, but he can at least be solid backup. And then it mostly comes down to Allen. We are still waiting to see if he will be boom or bust or maybe just ordinary. -
I just played a computer vs computer in simulation mode on Madden 19 with the latest roster updates and my sliders. The defense kept us in the game and even took the lead on an 84 yard pick 6 by T White in the 3rd, but the Pats scored 16 unanswered points in the 4th to win it 23-10. K Benjamin had 1 catch for 5 yards and 5 drops LOL. Anderson was awful. Shady caught 9 passes. Hughes and Murphy each had a sack.

Anyone that says no is lying. If you are posting on a Bills msg board in your spare time, clearly you are having fun or you'd be doing something else in your spare time.
