An observation on Josh Allen's three picks
34-78-83 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its true... The types of catches that are regularly being made by John Brown are the type of catches you see being made across the league on some of the better teams by multiple receivers on those teams. All had a role to play yesterday (and at other times this season) even though Allen was most responsible for the poor plays out there in that game. -

I agree with most of that. Still very encouraged overall by Allen and his improvements from last season too. Once developed (if he gets there of course) he'll be one of the hardest Qb's to defend in the game. You too Simon thx! ? And I forgot to mention - I think Josh may have held the ball a bit longer yesterday also due to the Pats defenders being all over our route combinations. There really weren't a lot of open receivers yesterday (other than the already noted missed outlets a couple times). -

It was definitely a shared blame for what happened out there. Josh was certainly the biggest contributor the yesterdays issues on offense , but the pass protection allowed a ton of quick penetration too, and from varied locations along the line all day. -
True - Hyde is playing like an All Pro so far this season

Tremaine's best game as a pro in my opinion. Very impressive, especially since he's calling lots of adjustments too.

I'll watch optimistically but won't believe that we can hang with B & B until I see it. Another Pats pull away in the 2nd half game is likely. We can win this one but odds are slim.

The pass rush was significant yesterday having watched live and in person. When the Bengals were still trying to throw deeper developing routes, the pocket frequently was collapsed by the Bills rush (and they blitzed VERY little). The interior pressure we've added this year helps a lot. After all that , The Bengals were getting the ball out withing 2 seconds. The Bills should have played more press coverage likely at that point, but seemed fearful of getting beat over the top. Pass rush has been fine this season. Not great, but not a concern.

Allen actually looks quite good at things he wasn’t so good at least season. I am encouraged. The 2 picks that counted are total fluke plays. -
not seeing the accuracy problems that many spoke of. Are you watching or reading? What I am seeing is occasional lapses in decision making due to his gifted arm. Am ok with it. Josh will always throw more picks than Tyrod Taylor would have. We need to accept that and understand that the rewards are still much greater with his play style and ability.

No Punt Game - Reality vs. Myth

Correct. Kelly was coming back too early from a bad knee injury... so bad that they designed their entire passing game around screen and swing passes that day to keep the rush off of Kelly. -
Personally I think this mentality kinda sucks, but I suppose I understand thinking about it. All coaches and GM's get fired eventually unless they retire. Our 2 clearly are on the same page with each-other and their staff, have a bought-in group of players and have all the knowledge and resources they will need to be successful. Clearly also, they didn't expect to make the Playoffs in year one, and were expecting offensive struggles last season. There is no reason we should expect them to be going anywhere any time soon barring catastrophe. What would the real advantage be any way?

They are really bad for sure. Darnold should be theirs.
