  1. I think there’s a difference between an excuse and an acknowledgement. i do agree that folks jump straight to CTE as an explanation and that’s not needed either though. Talking about causes and contributing factors though doesn’t mean the person is let off the hook. Even if they have the brain damage, that’s a part of their story, just like the acts of violence are... and some of the good things they’ve done can still be. Aaron Hernandez doesnt just have to be a sociopathic animal. He can be the dude that despite appearing to have it all actually had a junk family life, huge insecurities and violent head traumas and did awful things.
  2. I mean it’s not impressive behavior but for years he’s tried to get the band to play neck when he attends games. So it’s not like this is particularly outlandish behavior in that context. If he was doing out of the blue itd raise more eyebrows
  3. For those saying the university was worried or there were possible NCAA punishments for smoking or... i present you the official LSU football Twitter https://mobile.twitter.com/LSUfootball/status/1216976750007214080?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1216976750007214080&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.usatoday.com%2Fstory%2Fsports%2Fncaaf%2Fsec%2F2020%2F01%2F17%2Flsu-football-dancing-white-house-video-gemi-bordelon-get-gat%2F4505304002%2F the security gusts was overzealous
  4. he wasn’t awful, and he wasn’t top 3. Dude was a good rotational piece.
  5. to be fair, neck is a... special... LSU tradition and he’s had a history of fun with the band regarding it. Last year(?) he offered to pay any fines associated if they would. In context, the band video has been an ongoing joke for quite some time.
  6. if they thought shady was all in for the team he would’ve beat gore out. I think they were genuinely concerned about him mentoring DS if he was getting more touches
  7. Right which is why one of the schmucks has charges while the other is just catching snide comments on social media. They aren’t the same but can both get a “seriously???” either one showing common sense likely avoids the whole thing
  8. they’ve been under pretty intense federal scrutiny for a long time... with, admittedly a lot of reform successes. that said, everything about this clip was 2 parties seeking to elevate their own importance in what should’ve just been a simple and joyous celebration for the players
  9. I think the person mentioning drug use is relevant too. id venture a guess that later in HS and into college he probably began dabbling in riskier drugs. Could be CTE. Could be PCP. Likely his father situation contributed to both.
  10. winning likely helped too. If we were 3-5 mid season I bet plenty hit IR
  11. to be fair, he seems to be loud a lot of the time!
  12. that would be the plan. Will be interesting to see how it goes. Didn’t Sean Payton throw a barb or two when he left? Could be a fun storyline the big question will be if he can be the same guy as a full OC and with less talent than the opposition good hire and curious to see it play out
  13. your posts in this thread aged poorly, quickly.
  14. 1) maybe, I guess. But I think at 28, if you are that far out the door that a coaching change ends your career, you were done already. It may help be an excuse but it’s not the decision. 2) gives him a chance to demarcate the old from the new a bit extra potentially. Curious to see if he’s a rip the band aid or a slowly transition guy.
  15. Good choice for him. Made plenty of money and getting very beat up.
  16. When you sign Shaq who does it send the message to that they will take care of the old regime if you buy in? it’s down to Hughes and....?
  17. there’s almost certainly something more. Whether that’s letting him save face or some outside draw to the Virginia area or... guys don’t happily take demotions, and pay cuts for a more time consuming job for the heck of it or cause he knows a guy a bit. It feels like he found a soft landing.
  18. aaaand there he goes. Carolina bound.
  19. or could be a mental health issue that emerges in young adults and folks wrote it off as being a diva/star and it was really something like bi polar
  20. DC isn’t a promotion either. It’s head coach or everyone else. Only two levels at play.
  21. More realistically snag joe Brady as OC. Another William and Mary guy and almost certainly on the fast track to be the next offensive guru HC. Just the LSU passing game coordinator but he’s the dude you want.
  22. good arm, accurate. Maybe a touch less athletic than luck. Smart even though not a Stanford guy. Post game has regularly dissected what they saw on tape vs what happened pretty quick and live. the holes are few, and I think you could easily argue he elevated this team to a national championship
  23. what’s the gap for you? It’s got to be pretty slim on any given metric.
  24. lots of good takes early, PTR
