  1. Looking at the Bills cap situation for 2022 I think they should be able to keep up a highly competitive team again. The Bills don't have many key free agents (Levi and Harrison Phillips being the only ones of true consequence) and while the cap space might not be that much but there is certainly fat on the roster they can cut to make room to get some space. The Bills should be able to do some modest cuts and restructurings to save 20-40 million which should give the team enough space to resign Levi and possibly Harrison Phillips while adding a mid-level free agent or two and then via the draft the team can address larger needs.
  2. All-22 showing up to be pretty in line with the eye test. Hoping H.Phillips can have another good game against the Pats we desperately need to win the line of scrimmage.
  3. Although Josh's INT numbers are up a bit and his completion percentage down a bit he is still having a really really good season. Considering his O-line play is worse this season I think you can say that even though there might be a small bit of regression (he has made more head-scratching turnonvers this season) he still in 2021 is giving you no reason to doubt he is a franchise QB. Unless Josh goes on a monster tear to end the season and other MVP candidates tank or get hurt he isn't going to win the MVP but he is putting together another great season.
  4. BPA is relative. I think the best GM's draft combining value and need. For example, the Bills if they pick at pick 32 (optimistic thinking) and they identify Guard, DT, and RB as their top front line needs and WR, CB and Safety as their top depth needs and at pick then they have to weight their frontline and depth needs vs what is available to them at their pick. For example if the best Guard available is ranked 50th, the best DT is ranked 48th and the best RB is ranked 56th on their board then reaching for need is foolish esp if a WR they have ranked 22nd or a CB they have ranked 24th are both on the board. BUT if a Guard they have ranked 30th is on the board and they have a WR ranked 24th it makes sense to take the guard as it is a more pressing need and still a fairly good value for their pick even if the guard isn't technically the BPA.
  5. I think that the Bills are likely to want to keep costs down as much as possible. Thus a dome despite its advantages and possible disadvantages isn't likely to happen. A smallish outdoor stadium is likely to be the most viable situation for ownership, the state of NY and the league.
  6. That is unfortunate but the show must go on, between, Diggs, Knox, Davis and Sanders the team should have enough fire power but Beasley probably not being there stinks. Problem is this team is littered with those guys. Beasley and Poyer are both not easy to replace for example.
  7. Davis should be the WR2 and Sanders relegated to a supporting role. It's pretty obvious Davis is ready to take that role and Sanders is more of a complementary role player at this point of a long season. I think the coaching staff should be seeing this.
  8. Josh is a much more dynamic arm talent than Big Ben, but if the Bills get a more mobile Rothlisberger out of a QB that's a pretty dam good QB.
  9. I feel bad that he played the season on a franchise tag. He never made a ton of money before this season and now after one great year of pay he is going to hit the market with a major injury. Tampa might be fine if they can get Antonio Brown going again but it is still a devastating injury. Once again injuries are the worst part of football.
  10. I don't mind either way, but let's be realistic and say that the dome is a matter of cost. The Bills are likely to build or not build a dome due to costs and not on field factors. My personal preference is neutral. I don't mind a dome but I also like the outdoor nature of stadiums.
  11. They have had 6 infections among the lowest in the league but not the lowest either. The Jags, 49ers, and Seahawks have less with just 3 each and the Raiders and Panthers have also had 6 infections. So it isn't like the Pats are doing something that other teams aren't. With Covid I think it comes down to a combination of luck, preparedness/protocols and individual actions by the players. The teams can only control some of that, the rest is up to the players and luck.
  12. Feel good not great about the game. The team needed a get right game and they got it. Some things are concerning but they got the win and kept their season alive that’s all that matters.
  13. The Bills played a good but not great game while the Panthers showed up the Bills simply were the more talented team at home. The Bills needed this win to both keep pace in the wildcard and keep their chances at a division title alive. They got the win fairly comfortably (the Panthers kicker being out was a gift too.)
  14. A bad turnover or a broken play or just some bad penalties is all it could take, right now the key is to force Carolina to be down 3 scores so they have to pass and they are a horrendous passing offense.
  15. Bills finally starting to take control of this game. Need to go up at least 2 scores going into the second half but a 7-0 lead is a good start. Keep the pedal down and don’t let up.
  16. Piracy is always an option?
  17. Good that they cut bait early.
  18. The NFL shutting down for a week would be very easy to do. I also think a second bye week would only help the quality of play.
  19. McD has flaws no doubt, but I also think he is a very good coach who has played a major hand in completely turning around the organization. McD has things he needs to work on but he isn’t deserving of talk of being fired. That’s just ridiculous.
  20. Please lock this thread. Anyone calling for McD to be fired is a fool. Is McD perfect? Hell no. He has some more to work on as a head coach but he is one of the top 10 coaches in the league. Have you looked around the NFL lately? There aren't that many good head coaches. McD took over a 7-9 team that had very little young talent, was capped out and hadn't made the playoffs in 17 years. Since 2017 the Bills have made the playoffs three times, won two playoff games and developed a franchise QB. Even this season the team is still in a position for a playoff spot and is talented enough to "get hot" at the right time possibly. Will there possibly be a time when this team has to move on from McD? Yes, if the team continues to fall short in the playoffs and regular season there will come a point where things have to change. That point is not now.
  21. There is also far too much to lose (literally everything) and far too little to gain.
  22. The Bills will have about 10 million in cap space with 39 contracts on the roster which is not a lot to work with. However the Bills have some fat on the roster they can cut or restructure. Releasing Mongo, D.Williams and Ford frees you up about 10.25 million on the cap. Releasing Mitch would also be another 7.5 million in savings. So that would leave you with 27 million in cap space with only 35 players on the roster. Other options are releasing Matakevich and AJ Klein which would save 7.75 million. But the Bills also have the option of restructuring deals. The team can easily redo Star's deal to save 3.35 million, restructuring Diggs and Milano saves 15 million. And there are other restructuring options on the table. Overall the team has a lot of flexibility. I suspect by the time they finish restructuring deals and cuts they will probably have 35ish players on the roster with 40-60 million in space. Enough to bring back a few players like Hughes and enough to make a couple of solid mid-level acquisitions. I agree with this. He won't be a cap causality. On the O-line I see D.Williams being cut or restructured and possibly Mongo and Ford being cuts.
  23. The NFL is not institutionally rigged. By that I mean the league office is not instructing the refs to tilt or rig games for one team over another. The NFL's gain over doing that is so limited compared to losing literally everything if the league's integrity was to come into question (and an even larger set of legal issues esp with legal gambling taking place now). You have clauses in the multi-billion dollar yearly TV deals that allow the networks to cancel contracts if the league is thought to be rigging games. Now is it possible that individual refs have a bias or even a "rogue" ref has an agenda for personal reasons (such as gambling debt or money troubles) yes. We saw that happen with the NBA in the 2000's. But right now that's not the same as the league being rigged from the top down. The Bills have had a lot of bad calls this season and a ton of no-calls. It probably has cost the team a game or two easily. But the league having some sort of agenda to specially get the Bills for some reason? I am not sure I can buy that without more evidence.
  24. The Bills don’t have a ton of cap space so I think their best way to improve the team is going to be via the draft. Easy to see them spending a first round pick along the Oline. I am fine with Mitch at center it’s the guard positions that are hurting.
