  1. If he is there at 34 take him he is a pro-bowl RT but I think he goes in the 18-25 range ala Bulaga last draft.
  2. A lot of people are wondering how owners would make more money with a 18 week season instead of a 17 week one. Well the owners could charge more for TV packages by having a season that spans longer. Giving 18 weeks of programming is much more attractive than 17 as it spans longer (More weeks of programming means more commercials for the networks). Now I did not know that they did try this before in 1993 and it wasn't deemed successful but I think that it could work again. A lot more injuries are occurring and the owners want to generate more money but the players don't want more games. Its something worth looking into because if the sticking point is 18 vs 16 games I don't think that both sides are very willing to budge. Don't compare NFL players to everyday people its just not an reasonable comparison. The NFL players work for a company that holds the worlds most valuable television property and the players are the ones people who tune into see. The world of the NFL isn't comparable to the real world.
  3. Smokescreen get people to think you want Newton if he falls you can get a team that is in love with him to give up a lot of picks to move up and get him.
  4. Getting an early second rounder plus maybe a mid rounder for moving down just 6 spots is an awesome package. We can still get an impact player at pick 9 and getting say an extra 2nd and 4th or 5th rounder can help the Bills in moving up or filling extra needs.
  5. Ralph has probably made more money off his team than any other owner. That being said I wish that we knew what his plans for the team were for after he passes.
  6. Bring in Cooper. There should still be a MLB picked high in the draft. Poz is unreliable at best due to injury concerns. Davis and Cooper should be vet backups playing behind Poz and a high draft choice. Having two quality vets to help teach the 3-4 and fill in in case of injury is a good thing.
  7. Agree with you on all points except Fitz. Don't waste a pick in the 1st 4 rounds on a QB go for a veteran backup in free agency. We have to many holes to waste one on a QB.
  8. I was listening to the radio and they were talking about the NFL labor situation. One of the hosts said if the players and owners couldn't come to an agreement on 18 games why not make a compromise and just give each team 2 bye weeks and add a whole new week to the season. Owners get a longer season that they can charge more for (Without having to pay the players extra seeing as its the same amount of games) and the players don't have to play in more games. You have 8 weeks where teams can get byes. Weeks 4,5,6,7 and 8 has 6 teams getting a bye. But you still have 11 games for Sunday afternoon and 1 for Sunday Night 1 for Monday. Then weeks 11,12,13,14, and 15 start the byes again. Each week 6 teams get off 13 games still left on the plate. You also still have the first 3 weeks the last 3 weeks plus 2 weeks in between as full scheduled weeks. Its also a good way to get less injuries. Give players more time in season to get healthy and rest head injuries. Hopefully by the time the playoffs roll around the rosters are a bit more representative of how the rosters start the season. It made a lot of sense to me. It wouldn't interrupt the flow of the season that much and the owners would get more time to the TV deal and unlike the 18 game season you wouldn't have to pay the players more (Because you would have to compensate them for additional games played not really much compensation for an extra bye).
  9. Roger Goodell is a bully. He comes down hard on the easy to pick on guys like Pac Man Jones and Marshawn Lynch but any time the guy has to make a serious stand he is a wimp. Spygate, Michael Vick, and Big Ben were all situations Goodell suddenly he is weak. Belicheat should have been suspended for life from the NFL but that would actually mean having a backbone.
  10. Bills won't draft a QB in the first 3 rounds. If you put a better team around Fitz you can win. Fitz deserves another year his play has proved that.
  11. I honestly would rather have Fitz under center than Palmer. The team really responds to Fitz he has the mentality to play here in Buffalo as well. On top of that Fitz has a year under Chan's system and started to get some chemistry with the receivers at the end of year as well. Installing Palmer who is a above average QB at best into a new system when we have a guy who can preform above average with a below average supporting cast in Fitz makes no sense. I do think that we should invest in a solid backup as I think that Fitz is the only professional caliber QB on the staff.
  12. No side wants this to go further. There is a compromise to be made here. I suspect that the owners will get another 500 million off the top (Instead of the Billion they were looking for) as well a rookie wage scale to ease player salaries; while the players don't get an 18 game season and still get 57.8 percent of the rest of the money after the 1.5 Billion is taken off the top.
  13. The last three years I wanted 2010- Bulaga 2009- Oher or Orakpo 2008- McKelvin 2007- Wasn't able to watch the draft that year 2006- Ngata The last two years I have desperately wanted the Bills to take a tackle.
  14. Dareus the guy is a stud D-line man that can play in any scheme. Newton was rated as a late 1st early 2nd round pick by most pundits and draft experts now he is worthy of the 3rd overall pick? What the hell Newton is the next Vince Young a tremendously gifted QB who just doesn't have the mental tools to put it all together. Don't buy the hype go with a proven commodity. Fitz is a real QB he might not be flashy but he can win with a better D and some help on offense.
  15. Sadly I have to agree that Fat Pats best years are behind him by far. While I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Bills uni as a back up NT I just don't see it happening. He is at best a role player and even than the playing time might be better used elsewhere.
  16. IT still doesn't give the players that much leverage. People forget that the TV deals weren't gauranteed they would actually defer a year so they wouldn't get money for free anyway (If the whole season did get locked out the owners would get the money but they would owe the networks a free year of NFL games). This doesn't have that much of an impact as people think but its definitely something that went in the players favor. The owners have to get revenue sharing issues between themselves set and the owners and players have to realize that they both don't want to kill the golden goose. Just hammer this thing out don't be stupid you both have something to lose.
  17. I would take Damian Woody but only as a one or two year stop gap type situation at RT. Woody to me only makes sense if you get him for the right price and if you don't feel like you can't get one of the other RT free agents out there. If you can maybe draft a RT in the 4th round and groom him behind Woody for a year or two that could possibly be a good situation.
  18. Likely a cap move. A lot of teams are getting rid of overpaid players to try and brace for a potential salary cap. The Jets just released a whole bunch of overpaid and under-preforming players just to try to lower their potential cap number. Sanity hopefully will be returned to the NFL salary structure.
  19. Pass the guy just doesn't have the heart to be successful in the NFL. Same goes for Maybin he just doesn't have the ability.
  20. Don't believe anything you hear about a GM in accordance to the draft. Its all a smokescreen don't believe anything you hear.
  21. As depth this is a solid move but I hope that this move isn't as a starter.
  22. NHL after it lost a whole season did a weighted lottery system where the least successful teams over the last 5 seasons (With the last 2 seasons counting more) would get the best chance to win the top picks while it would then get drawn down the line. For example the Bills would have one of the best chances to get a top 4 pick while the Steelers and Pats* would be weighted to have a bottom 6 pick.
  23. I really don't see the need to draft a QB in the 1st 4 rounds at all. Give Fitz another year maybe pick up a quality backup in free agency to push Brohm and Brown. All in all this team has too many needs to waste a valuable pick on a position like QB.
  24. If you are going to cry poverty to a federal mediator you should have to open your books. I for one can't stand both sides on the labor dispute as the owners are crying poverty but refuse to open their books (Looks like they are hiding something) while the players are coming off of a huge CBA victory in 2006 and don't get the fact that they are likely going to have to open themselves up to compromise. Thanks to globalism the USA has actually cut corporate tax rates a lot in the last 60 years. Back in the 1950's the rate use to be close to 50% now its under 40%. But a lot of people argue that its not low enough due to China and India among other nations having corporate tax rates below 20%. I have been studying this issue in my economics class. There are two sides of discussion. One side wants to lower rates and give more tax exemptions while the other wants to heighten tariffs in a more protective manner and close loopholes (Only way you don't pay taxes is if you don't make a profit) while keep rates close to where they are. I haven't come down on either side but its probably one of the biggest issues as far as intercontinental economics goes.
  25. I think that Sanders is worth the risk give him a low base salary, a lot of incentives, and see if he can go. I like that he is a game changer when healthy but he is so rarely healthy. WE wouldn't be dependent on Sanders as Wilson could just step in.
