I would actually change the rule to be touchdowns are worth 7 and the extra point is what now is a 2 point conversion, and you can go for 2 by trying to get into the endzone from the 15 yard line. By making TD's worth more you make field goals worth less. Also by making TD's worth up to 9 you keep more teams in games more. Also the drama of teams having to make extra points and more difficult two point conversions makes the play much more interesting as opposed to a mere afterthought. From 15 yards out kickers are going to be pretty close to automatic. It really doesn't add that much to the play. I also hate the teams can run back the two point conversion for a score, that seems more like a college type rule.

AP really cosidering retiring due to contract standoff?
billsfan89 replied to pbanach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
AP is dumb he wants desperately to play for the Cowboys behind their stacked O-line with a respectable QB and passing game. Problem is he also wants to get paid. If he wants the 10 million dollar salary he has to play for the Vikings. As good as AP was and at 29 he could have another year or two left in the tank, but if he wants to command that kind of money the only team that will be willing to pay him is the Vikings, who need him as a centerpiece to their offense. If the Vikings could get a second round pick plus some other choices just trade him away. -
Bears Cut Ray McDonald after Arrest on DV Charges
billsfan89 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were hoping he would help out their D-line. But they knew the risks when they signed him, that explains the salary being low with no guarantee. The Bears knew this would have to be the move if it blew up when they signed him. With him being a repeat offender in a short amount of time he isn't going to get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this. Let the legal process play out, if he gets cleared he is free to join another team. -
Nick O'Leary has tools to be a big factor in Bills offense
billsfan89 replied to pbanach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see O'leary as a solid backup. I think he hauls in 20-30 passes maybe a TD or two. But I can't see him being a big factor year one, nor do I think his long term potential will be a starter. He is a willing blocker and plays a little faster than he was timed. But I think his size and lack of elite speed might keep him from being a starter. But I do think that he could be very good in a tandem role as he is versatile enough to be a contributor -
WR Coach Sanjay Lal the "big reason" Harvin chose Bills
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills were the only team offering Harvin decent money. Solid roster, good chance to see a lot of snaps and get the money. It wasn't complicated why the Bills wanted to try and utilize his playmaking ability and why he wanted the money and a roster spot. -
Seems unlikely. Unless Taylor impresses and EJ stinks completely I can't see this happening.
-
They built the roster around the weak QB position. They knew what it was and that the option to improve the situation was limited. So they got with a replacement level QB in Cassel (Aka Kyle Orton 2.0) and hoped that maybe EJ Manuel could get another shot at it and improve. They knew they had to upgrade every other aspect of the roster in order to compensate for the QB. To think that they are panicking is silly.

Michael Vick wants to play three more years?
billsfan89 replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He would be lucky to play one more year. Probably not going to be a starter ever in the league again. If he wants to be a backup he could probably squeeze another year out of his career. -
The NFL drugs test are notoriously easy to beat. That genius Aaron Hernandez beat the test year in year out, so I am not worried about Sammy beating a pot test as there are windows of time when they can test you and they can't go outside those windows. Hookah is simply a type of pipe, tons of public places have flavored tobacco out of them I myself have gone to tons of them in NYC and Northern NJ. This is the biggest waste of time for anyone to pay attention to. They have shown people smoking hookah pipes on TV all the time.
-
Hookah pipes you can smoke flavored tobacco out of it, in fact there are many bars and lounges that will sell it to you like that as it makes for a good smoke. It's more than likely it's that. Even if it's weed who gives a **** as long as he isn't driving.

HeadsetGate ? pats strike again ?
billsfan89 replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You always hear the little things about the Pats* in 2011 I remember when the Ravens were in the AFC title game and there were issues with the scoreboard. The Pats* have always done these little gamesmenship things that have resulted in them losing the benifit of the doubt when it comes to infractions. -
Pats** CB situation is confusing
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yet the year they won the super bowl they had a top flight shutdown corner in Revis and a really solid number 2 in Browner, along with solid corners at nickel and dime. The Pats* defense struggled when they lost key players like Asante Samuel and Rodney Harrison retired. I have no clue why they didn't at least sign one more capable corner. The Pats* defense was an absolute nightmare when they were bare at the CB position. -
No team is going to give up a valuable pick for a 30 year old CB coming off of an injury with a moderate but not insignificant cap hit. I think at best you could get a 6th or 7th for him, maybe a 5th if a team gets injuries at the CB position and gets desperate. Overall I think you need a lot of high quality corners in Rex's system. With Gilmore, Leodis, Graham, Darby, and Robey we go 5 deep and the options at 6 aren't terrible. I think they want as much depth as possible at the CB position at least until they know how good Darby is. With a tight cap situation possible next year I do see them cutting or trading McKelvin as his cap hit while not unreasonable might not be solvent for the team.

Bills 5th rd pick Karlos Williams is a steal
billsfan89 replied to pbanach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he could be a good back up power RB. I don't see him as a starter. I see him as a special teamer this year and maybe a solid backup down the road. -
I think if your team does anything you will do enough mental gymnastics to defend the team. I think most Pats* fans do know deep down how shady the team is but since the people they hate (Fans of other teams) galvanize against them they stick together coming up with various plausible deniability. Bottom line if you love something enough you will find a way to like it.

Bills have the 2nd worst OL in the NFL according to PFF
billsfan89 replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you watched the games the O-line was a mess last year, the whole offense was. Orton was a high level back up QB or a low level starting QB playing behind a bad O-line and limited offensive weapons. Hopefully a combination of adding InCognito, Miller, getting Williams back from injury, and the young players from last season developing improve the O-line play overall. Hilarious post. -
RD 2, Pick 50: DB Ronald Darby, Florida State
billsfan89 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Leodis really turned it around when Pettine got here. It seemed like Pettine really got the best out of him and maximized his game. I think Jauron and the coordinators under Gailey weren't able to maximize his physical skills. So McKelvin played very inconsistent for the first 5 seasons. Pettine put Leodis in the slot and simplified the scheme, he was easily the best corner we had in 2013 esp with Gilmore hurt. Then in 2014 Schwartz came in and up until he got hurt Leodis played just as good as he did in 2013. I think with Rex's scheme he wants his corners so McKelvin stays for 2015 while Darby and the young guys get a chance to develop and there is less pressure on them. After this season I can't say what will be his fate as he has a significant cap charge and this team will be up against the cap. -
Pretty much, the Seahawks success came from Wilson managing the games for 3 quarters allowing the great defense and ground attack to do most of the work and sprinkling in a few decent plays with his arm. Wilson also was a very clutch player in the 4th quarter which helped them win games. But Wilson was very mediocre at times esp early in games. He isn't a dynamic QB but rather a above average QB with a great team around him. However if you pay him a cap number close to 20 million then you are going to severely limit how good the team can be around him. It's going to be similar to how the Raven's were with Flacco, going from championship contention to a little above the middle of the pack, having to let go of good players or being unable to retain certain players due to cap concerns caused by having such a huge contract on the books.

Will Roman's O fit our offensive players?
billsfan89 replied to BillsInMaine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good coaches fit the scheme to the players. However I think Roman has the players he wants, he was hired early in the off-season and I assume Whaley, Rex, and him have worked together getting the players they want for the offensive and defensive systems. They got versatile players like Clay, Harvin, and McCoy and they brought in big mauler guards in Miller and Incognito. They also got a power fullback in Felton which seems to fit his scheme. Overall I think a good coach will work the system around the players and bring in the necessary parts needed to make their system more effective. -
Why no consideration for Jeff Tuel?
billsfan89 replied to Vinaccia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tuel stinks, he is a player that should be scratching and clawing to be a third string QB. He was lucky they changed the practice squad rules so he was able to hang on the PS longer. -
Boomer Esiason Says The Bills Will Be...
billsfan89 replied to IDBillzFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team has a lot of talent and got an upgrade in the coaching department. I still would like to see Spikes back and the team signing Landry. Both guys would add great depth to the defense. But questions along the O-line and the big question mark at QB certainly are flaws on this team. So expectations are high but tempered. -
Have Billls hurt themself with "hard to make roster" talk?
billsfan89 replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a good problem to have. There is so much talent on this roster that UDFA's don't view it as a super attractive spot to land. I think in the end if the team wants to find the next Jason Peters or Jabari Greer (Not so highly touted UDFA's that ended up with good careers) the scouting department could land that player, but if the next Da Rick Rodgers (highly touted UDFA) slips out of our hands then so be it. -
If Rex brings Collins and basically gets a first round talent for nothing that will really show his talents as a recruiter and the value he can bring to the franchise. Collins could slot in as either a guard or tackle on the right side. If the team were able to land Collins the O-line would shape up nicely. LT- Glenn LG- Incognito C-Wood RG- Miller/Williams RT- Collins/Cyrus/Henderson Or the Bills could slot in Collins at RG and have Henderson and Cyrus at RT if either one develops. Basically the Bills are trying to get a first round type talent for nothing. Smart move, let's see if Rex who players seems to love can make this happen.

Bills are 18th in ESPN power rankings
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty fair. Keep in mind this is after the draft. The Bills didn't have a 1st or 4th round pick so I would imagine that if you take a quick snapshot after the draft when other teams had more selections it's possible that teams could hop over. It's all speculation. Let the pre-season play out before you take any "rankings" seriously and even then weeks 1-4 of the regular season will really start the process of getting a good snapshot of the season.
