  1. Does anyone have a problem with the draft? Every sport has one its loved by the fans and seen as a fair way for talent to enter the league.
  2. Correction I just looked it up he was cut by the Raiders and signed to the Bills Practice Squad.
  3. Good to see Canada is more willing to support hockey than the South. Not that there can't be a few Southern hockey teams but I think that they should still move one more team from the South to Canada. The Florida Panthers seem like a good fit for a move two teams in Florida is overkill bring Quebec back into the league.
  4. Last year the Bills signed Kellen Heard off of the Raiders practice squad. He is still on the team presumably under the PS. The guy is 6 foot 6 and 355 pounds and there was a lot of talk about him coming into the season. Does anyone else think this guy can become something or is he just another Lonnie Harvey?
  5. QB- C I like Fitz but there is no backup Brown is a third string QB. If the team can sign a decent backup QB it will go up to a C+ or B-. RB- B- Freddie is a quality NFL RB. Spiller has a lot of potential and White is a nice depth move. BUT Spiller needs to show more for the rating to go up because Freddie is the only proven commodity. OL- C+ Good interior lineman with Wood and Levitre and a lot of competent depth with Hangartner Urbick and Rinehart. Bell has shown he can play as a competent NFL LT and there is reason to think he can get better. BUT there is a lot of concern with the RT spot. WR- B- Stevie is a beast. Lee is a solid vet. And there is a lot of potential with the rest of the staff, Roosevelt, Nelson, and Easly. Also Roscoe is a competent slot guy. Still Lee needs to show more now that Stevie has arrived and the young guys need to develop. TE- D- Chandler is a decent blocker not much else. Hopefully something is added in free agency. DL B Kyle Williams is a pro-bowler, Dareus is a high prospect who can make an impact, Edwards is a vet who can play competently but is hurt often, Troup and Carrington are high draft picks who have a lot of potential, and Jasper and Heard are interesting projects. LB D Merriman is injured often, Poz is also injury prone, Kelsay isn't much, Moats shows promise but he has to develop, Davis is old and injured, Torbor is a decent backup but not a starter, Sheppard is a solid pick up in the draft but can he be counted on to make an impact? The rest of the staff like Maybin isn't very impressive. Hopefully Nix signs some quality backups in free agency and there is some injury luck. Secondary B (B- if Florence isn't resigned) This is assuming Whitner is gone but Florence is back. McGee, McKelvin, Williams, and Florence are solid but not elite at corner. Byrd will hopefully be more comfortable in his 3rd year at safety and second year in this system. Wilson is a solid SS and Scott and Searcy provide depth at safety as well. Coaching staff C- One year and only 4 wins. Doing all the right things but it has to happen on the field. The stash does help to improve the defensive staff.
  6. Hope Dareus shows this on the field.
  7. Mike Adams seems like an interesting prospect that could help out the team. Wouldn't bid anything more than a 3rd round pick for him but it could end up being a steal.
  8. Don't get why this even went to court and has gotten this bad to begin with. Did the NFL learn nothing from the NHL? And the NFL is in a much better situation than the NHL was when it was locked out for a year. Its such a bad situation when lawyers are involved instead of the two parties hashing it out.
  9. Good to see them up close and be able to buy them. This team needs to look like winners so they can play like winners.
  10. Jackson is a mid level NFL RB nothing wrong with a group D-E certification BUT Lynch would have been E-F rating if he didn't have that playoff run. Not taking anything away from that epic run BUT you can't let one play overrate the guy whose resume is of a mid level NFL RB.
  11. Pegging the Bills at a realistic 6-10 and 7-9. My inner Bills optimist says 8-8 to 9-7. I think that its clear that this team (Barring freakish amounts of injuries or a complete collapse) will be improved from last season. The team will still be tweaked in free agency (Backup QB, Some Depth at LB, among some other small improvements) but there will be no major changes to the existing roster. All in all this season will hopefully show enough progress to the point were we can be sure they are headed in the right direction.
  12. Especially considering that the running back position heading into the 2010 draft was considered one of the positions of strength with Freddie and Lynch on the roster. I thought that the picks of Troup and Carrington were solid the team was converting to a 3-4 and it needed lineman. Yes they didn't make an impact in their rookie years but if they are solid parts of the line going forward they were good picks. The Spiller pick to me was puzzling. So many needs on the team and they went with Spiller who was a luxury pick. I thought that a RT would have helped the team stabilize the line a lot more and improved the team more going forward. While I think Spiller will be a productive player I don't see him being that game changer he was drafted to be. Had the team drafted Bulaga and kept Lynch I think it would have been better off. The line going forward wouldn't have such a glaring need at RT and the team would still be solid at RB.
  13. Bingo its all posturing. Don't believe anything in such a high stakes bargaining.
  14. 2002 was an epically bad draft class and not just for QB's. All you have to know is that David Garrard was the best QB to come out of that draft. 2006 I wouldn't say was bad but it wasn't good, Young was rookie of the year and can play if he gets his head on straight, Cutler also is a above average NFL QB who just played in the NFC title game. 2007 Just a terrible terrible draft class for QB's. Although Kolb could have a productive career. All in all I think that sometimes next year is always a "much better year to draft a QB". Last year I thought that Luck, Mallet, and Locker would make a good class to choose a QB from. Well Luck didn't come out, Mallet was a head case, and Locker had a bad college year. I agree that none of the QB's in this draft seemed like a good enough pick at 3 or 34 but thats also more so a product of my own personal thoughts on Fitz who I think can be a quality QB for this team.
  15. Vikings Just got a new deal for a stadium so it looks like they will stay put. Carolina has a new stadium deal and very good ownership interested in keeping the team there, so they will stay put. St.Louis seems like a steady organization but they aren't locked in. The Bills have a old owner, a smaller market, and an old stadium they have all the trappings of a team looking to move BUT they have strong local support despite not much to root for. The Jags on the other hand have nothing going for them, no local fan support, not the biggest market, lack of support for winning teams, and an ownership group interested in moving. All in all its likely the Jags move before the Bills as I think that it would be hard to move a team with as much history and support as the Bills when there is a market in Jacksonville that is very disinterested in a better product.
  16. The truth on Troup and Carrington will be much clearer this time next year if there is football. I think that for the D to be successful these two guys have to develop into quality NFL players. Both seem to have the right character and intangibles but we will need another season of play to see exactly what those guys have.
  17. I don't really care about ratings. I never get how low ratings effects ones personal enjoyment of a sport. If the hockey is good (And this year it has been) whats it to you if the ratings are low? All in all I hope Boston wins as I think that Boston vs Vancouver is a better series but Tampa has a mega star in Stamkos and plays an exciting brand of hockey.
  18. Had a girlfriend that got me to watch Degrassi The Next Generation with her. Though the show was your typical high school TV drama stuff the fact that it was Canadian made it watchable (The use of Canadian money and the words aboot and soury are funny).
  19. Talking about this in the shout box thought there should be a topic about it. What do you find more exciting? I like both leagues and while some years the quality varies I in general find the NHL playoffs more exciting. NHL overtime is the most exciting thing in sports. While the fact that series in the NHL go longer and there are more upsets help as well. What playoff do you prefer?
  20. I do agree that Troups expectations were set by his high second round pick draft status. If Troup was picked in the 3rd (Or we traded up into the late 2nd) the expectations would have been vastly different. I do think that your assessment of Troup showing nothing was a little off. I thought that later in the year the guy showed quickness and improved strength. Towards the end of the season when his playing time was upped he showed that he could chase down and pursue angles well. In the end he just didn't seem strong enough to hold the point of attack consitantly. Core strength and improvement at the point of attack is something that DT's can improve upon after their 1st year or two in the league.
