That means they would need the Chargers to lose 2 of their final 3 games. Still not out of the realm of possibility with Dallas, Houston and Denver. I've played around with the playoff machine. Chargers need one of these two scenarios to occur to get in over the Chiefs: 1) Beat Chiefs OR Broncos 2) Beat Cowboys AND Texans Broncos are going to play kingmaker in the AFC. They play the Chiefs in week 17 and the Chargers in week 18. The outcome of those games will very likely decide the playoff picture from top to bottom. Quote

TheFunPolice Posted December 9 Posted December 9 (edited) IMO the most likely scenario is this: Chiefs win out to finish 10-7 Broncos rest everyone in week 18, lose to LA and LA gets in over the Chiefs. Much whining ensues in national sports media about the "better team" being left out. Last night's Eagles/Chargers game was enormous. Had LA lost with that battering Herbert took and their upcoming schedule I would have put it better than 50/50 the Chiefs get in. Now I would put it less than 10%. Almost all because the Chargers will be playing a Broncos team that can tank that game to keep KC out. KC fans should hope Denver loses a game or two so that they need to play to win week 18. Denver does play GB this Sunday. Even though it's a Broncos home game that will still be a tough game to win. Quote
TheFunPolice Posted December 9 Posted December 9 (edited) KC fans would want Denver to lose enough that they need to care week 18 and play, but not too much that NE or BUF overtakes them for the #1 seed before week 18 kicks off. IMO the most likely outcome is KC wins out but DEN throws the week 18 game to keep them out. This all shows how thin the margin is in the NFL and the importance of every game and every snap. During the Bills/Bengals game the talk was "they're wasting Allen!" but then Benford's pick 6 swung things. Instead of it being 35-25 a handful of plays later with something like 2:50 left to play it's an epic comeback for the Bills and Beane was right all along because they are going to go on and win the Super Bowl this year. It's crazy to think that if Burrow just ate the sack on that play we might be on the outside looking in right now for the playoffs. Edited December 9 by TheFunPolice Quote

Half the NFL is ready to write off the Buffalo Bills after being one of the best teams consistently for the last 5 years lol If the bills are 9 and 4 and people could write them off You could write off a six and seven Kansas City team which is also old and slower Quote

Jones is locked in next season (unless you want the 20M extra dead cap. You think kelce hangs it up? Seems like he loves the game and the spotlight. I think he should hang it up, but will he? I’m eager to see the next iteration of your boys. i’m hoping for Denver too. If we don’t win the division, i really don’t wanna play IN Houston. I’d be fine with them at home though. Go Bills. Quote

If they play here I will be in attendance and my record in NRG is 0-4 with the Bills, 0-1 with Cuse, and I didn't technically lose but I definitely didn't feel like a winner leaving after Taylor Swift. 1 Quote

Now out of the playoffs, and the prospect of Mahomes possibly missing the start of the season....I don't know that Kelce wants to come back for a final season playing with what will likely be Minshew or Drew Lock or somoene like that. Jones is locked in due to contract. KC may well try and tag and trade McDuffie...Leo Chenal probably unaffordable...Pacheco won't be back (fine with me). There will some other moves. I hate to say this....and don't get me wrong, if Andy wasnts to keep coaching, he's more than earned it...but I hope he retires. It's reset time and I don't think you want to go into a big overhaul with Andy being old, stale and with health risks. ...one more think I kind of dread moving forward....The patriots long, 2 part dynasty featured an AFC east that was more or less inept for 20 years with the exception of the jets having a few strong seasons mixed in. I don't htink KC will have that going on. Sadly, Denver has a QB. Herbert is good enough....so there are more competent teams in the division....trying to get back to the top of the AFC mountain will be tough. Next year won't be good. ....again, I am all in on the Bills. Most of you know my story...I won't tell it again...but damn I love watching Josh Allen play football. GO BILLS! 1 Quote
Steve O Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Vrabel played in the "just give it to them" game. He has nothing to complain about vis a vis the Bills ever again. 1 Quote

Don Otreply Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Going forward, it will take till half way through season for Kermit to heal fully, and another half to full season to get back to full form, the physical wounds will heal long before the psychological wounds, those will take longer…, Edited 5 hours ago by Don Otreply Quote
