People keep talking as if the 49ers have released Aiyuk. They have not. If you read carefully, it turns out that the 49ers voided his contract guarantees back in July, but we're just learning about this now for some reason. Everything beyond that is speculation and talking heads trying to put two and two together to generate content. Kyle Shanahan, when asked about it, doesn't dismiss him returning to the team. I don't know, I've never heard of a player let alone a WR who had their guaranteed money voided and neither has Kyle Shanahan which leaves me to believe there is alot more going on behind the scenes than we're being told.

voiding his contract guarantees basically guaranteed he will be cut in the off-season 

 

Brandon did not file a grievance.. because I don't believe he's coming back

Or you've got a player that wanted to be traded but stayed bc they offered him a deal too good to say no. But they soon ended up regretted it and still want out. So they miss meetings and team events and make it known that they want out.

 

On the flip side, you've got a 9ers team that probably also has buyers remorse after overpaying for him and then him tearing his ACL.

 

Doesn't seem very complicated or mysterious to me. He wants out of the 9ers - the 9ers want out of the contract.

He's most likely not being released this season. They voided his guarantees for 2026 and onward and he will be moved in the off-season. There's a chance they may even trade him rather than releasing him.

You could be right but I'm more doom and gloom (The drought years did a number on me) so I'll stick with my Antonio Brown theory.

The report made it seem like he would be released this season. Weird.

 

But if this is the case, I hope Beane trades for him. His value would be down given the situation so it wouldn't be a 1st. Trade for him. He'd be healthy at that point. And then draft a WR, too.

I can't envision a scenario where McDermott gets fired for this mess that Beane has made.

 

But I do think the big offseason move is likely for proven coordinators to open the new stadium with.

 

It's all a shot in the dark with so many candidates still employed but Mike McDaniel and Jim Schwartz is my very BOLD prediction.

I also don't see McD getting canned, not sure they move on from Babs yet either since he's just a rookie DC.

I think if one them gets fired both of them do and vice versa. They're a package deal IMO. I tend to lean in your direction though that they're both here to stay but there will be some splash moves made to create some excitement. This is ultimately an entertainment business after all and for all of Pegula's public facing family friendly One Buffalo persona, he is still a ruthless oil tycoon billionaire at heart, the kind that once told his employees flat out that sustaining his billionaire lifestyle is a key aim of their job.

 

I too see something like Mike McDaniel or maybe Kevin Stefanski and some new DC. I don't think McDermott will like having a former head coach breathing down his neck but I expect it to be forced on him. Not sure if someone with a history of established success like Jim Schwartz will want to work under McDermott to be honest, but I'll be surprised if Babich is back. On Beane's front I expect him to go all in on finding a true WR1 through the trade market or FA. In retrospect the WGR rant was good for the long term interests of the team. It increased the pressure on the awful job he's done with that room and now he has no choice if he wants to save his job.

 

Open the new stadium not by making sweeping top to bottom changes which create natural uncertainty for the conservative billionaire owner, but by appeasing the fans by giving them exactly what they want and creating a fresh albeit hollow excitement in WNY. McDermott will get in front of the media and talk about how excited he is to have an experienced head coach to lead with him, even while the sweat pools at the base of his neck. Beane will call into Jeremy White and crack jokes about his last appearance and talk about how he's never afraid to admit his mistakes. That's the direction I expect the billionaire and his team of marketing consultants to go.
