BuffaloBaumer Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago When my son had his first playoff game this year, I cancelled my entire trip to Carolina after I bought flights. That was only the first round....6rounds later, East Aurora won their first ever Class A State Championship. I can tell you right now, that was a MILLION times better than if Bills or Sabres were to evert win the big one. 1 1 Quote

Unless like me, you are married to a choral director who is a 55 year life member of NYSSMA in which case you turn your phone off and listen to the concert, since there will be a quiz on the way home. 2 Quote

How do I watch this game with the complete focus that I need, and still maintain marital harmony? (Note also this variable as it pertains to long term strategy: I have to still make the almost unwinnable case to go to the Steelers/Bills game, which conflicts with kids’ piano recital). You attend the kids game because he is a priority. You give your wife a B-Day card and a gift or flowers, and tell her that her B-Day date night is Saturday. You ignore social media. You watch the rest of the game when your sons game is over, you can rewatch it all on the Amazon stream later. 1 Quote
reddogblitz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If you have NFL channel they replay the Thursday night games. And as @RkFast sez, your kid will be gone off to college or wherever befor you know it,but the Bills will still be here and your So will your phone. It will happen faster than you expect. Enjoy it while you can. Quote

He was watching the game on his phone at the lunch, and I never went back to watch it. I would have had a much harder time with that years ago, but I’m much better now. 1 Quote

BuffaloBillies Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Tell her you need to drive separate to make a fast getaway after the bball game is over. But you're really driving separately to go to Wegmans or wherever to get 4 dozen cupcakes. When walk into the bball game with all your cupcakes you announce to the crowd (other kids' parents/siblings and stragglers) that it's your beautiful wife's birthday and we're all gonna sing her happy birthday and eat these cupcakes, then watch the bball game. AS SOON as the bball game ends you hightail it out of there and catch-up during commercials. Everyone is happy, and your wife felt so special you might even get some after the Bills win. Quote

Assuming you are streaming on Amazon there is an option to start from the begining of coverage and skip through commercials. Put yourself in media blackout (no phone), get home, cut through the commercials to catch up. 1 Quote

Draconator Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Go to the basketball game as a family. When the game is over, as a family, tell them you're taking wife and mom out for a birthday dinner. The restaurant of choice just so happens to be a sports bar with the game on in multiple locations. Since you're footing the bill (no pun intended), the family has to stay until the end of the game, because, Josh. If the family can't understand the power of Josh, couples therapy with Beane could be an option. 1 1 1 Quote

Albany,n.y. Posted 32 minutes ago Posted 32 minutes ago If you're willing to stay up until after 3 AM, do the family stuff blocking out all knowledge of the game & at 12:15 AM turn on the NFL Network & watch the rebroadcast. 1 Quote
Whites Bay Posted 27 minutes ago Posted 27 minutes ago Kid's game is unmissable. My kids are grown now, and I dearly miss those soccer and track events. And I mean A LOT. Whoosh, and they're done. But the INSTANT that damn basketball game is over, you're cramming that kid in the car and laying rubber in four gears with your foot in the carburetor to get your whipped ass back on the couch to watch the game. You will promise - and you WILL deliver - dinner and a night out tomorrow at the place of HER choice, and wear what SHE tells you to wear, and listen to the music that SHE wants to hear. Got it? Now...rinse and repeat for the Steelers. That's just how it goes, dude. You have no control. You can only trim the sails. 1 Quote
