zow2 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago This thread reminds me of the age old NFL saying. “It’s not who you play… but when you play them”. This is a great weekend to play Cincinnati. Even if Burrow played, he won’t be in mid season form, and no Chase. Look at the Falcons injury report. It’s huge. Too bad the Bills didn’t get them this Monday night instead of when London and Penix were around. Take the Saints this weekend. 2 Quote
sven233 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago (edited) This is such an interesting situation to follow over the next few days. On one hand, he wasn't slated to return until at least next week, of not the week after. And, it probably would be rushing him back with only 1 week of full practice with some limited practice time last week. However, the situation they're in with their record in the standings is on life support. Their record is terrible, so the only way they are getting in is to probably win the division which they almost (not quite, probably) have to run the table to do. But they are only 2 games out of the the division and with the teams they still have left to play, if they win the right ones, the could possibly steal the division. However, they are hanging off the edge of the cliff so to speak....... If they rush him back to play this week, you are taking a chance of a setback or something worse. However, if they choose to sit him and they lose to the Pats*, the chances of even winning the division take a huge hit of the teams ahead of them win. The thing is, if Allen were in this situation, I don't think there is a force of nature that would keep him off the field and leaving it all out there no matter what the repercussions would be. And I think as fans, we would be in full support of it. However, their offensive line is absolute trash and their defense is somehow worse than ours. What are the chances they truly overtake that division even if they do win this week? My money is and has been on the Ravens all along. Nothing is going to change that. They are simply the best team in that division regardless of what their record shows and their schedule overall is favorable in my opinion. I just don't believe in the Steelers ability to hold them off. And the Ravens are just flat out better than the Bengals as a complete team. Are the Bengals really going to win both matchups with the Ravens and make up ground during the other remaining games? Just a tremendous long shot. But, that's why I said earlier, this is fascinating to watch this week. Are they going to maybe do the safe thing and keep him off the field and most likely take an L to the Pats* that basically ends their chances at the division before he even steps back on the field? Or, are they going to chance it, while still having a pretty good chance at losing Sunday even if he plays? I mean, we already know even if he plays, Chase won't be there to bail him out if needed. And, after sitting virtually the entire season, would he even provide them the best chance of winning the game with the rust he might be playing with. Honestly, I think the Pats* beat them regardless of whether he plays or not, but man.....the fun drama and chatter it would create heading into the game would be great regardless. Very true, but I’m not sure I’d love to be the team playing the Bengals, even without Chase, on the day Burrow comes back at Paycor Stadium with the team knowing they need 7-0 maybeeee 6-1 to win the division. That place will be electric if he plays. Huge game for us, honestly, because we can end their playoff hopes in a few weeks and in the meantime have them take down NE and BAL. If they somehow beat NE, that Thanksgiving game is going to be wild. Edited 17 hours ago by SCBills Quote
BillytheKid Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I’m not scared of the Bengals at all with Burrow. He isn’t going to score anymore than what Flacco helped them score a couple of times. Which was in the 40’s. So who cares. Their defense is worse than the Bills defense. Josh might throw for 600 yards on them if Brady allows it. Quote

How about if he does play, they win, and then they win again on Thanksgiving in Baltimore? Then you are getting a hungry Bengals team, with a healthy Burrow, Chase, and Higgins in Orchard Park. You really want that? When people are gaming out the remainder of the season, they are always putting a "w" in for the Bengals game. It might take 45 points to get that win if Burrow is back and they are playing well. And even then, it might come down to which team has the ball last. And even if they still lose to the Pats and Ravens, once Burrow is back, he's back for the rest of the year. I wanted no part of that for the Bills, but it looks like we're going to see how good our secondary is against the best QB/WR combo in the NFL. You must be the Life of the Party 1 Quote

I am sure the Pats will get to play against Flacco, because of course they will. Flacco isn't the Bengals problem--he's playing well. Against the Bears and the Jets, the Bengals put up 80 points, and lost. Not sure what point your are making with this post. Quote

Not last week...he sucked, which is typical with him...lights it up the first few games then crashes hard when DCs figure out his tendencies and limitations. Edited 4 hours ago by Big Turk Quote

Nihilarian Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Cincy is 3-7 right now, and I'm reading that they are thinking of sitting him to keep him healthy for next season? Not only that, WR Ja'marr Chase wants out of Cincy and is asking to be traded away from that losing franchise. He went on a rant about it a while back. Hrmmm... Edited 3 hours ago by Nihilarian Quote
JP51 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) I dont know what happens here... I will say this... if you want to win a superbowl beat a 3-7 team that has their oft injured QB coming off of a major foot injury at home in the snow when the games are hyper critical.... that is all... TheFunPolice Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The Steelers are so blah that the 3 win Bengals are still seen as a possible threat in that division. Steelers could be 8-1 and Ravens would still be favored to win the division at 5-5 Quote

I just don't see a big threat from any team in the AFC North this year. Quote
SCBills Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) The winner of the AFC North could very well be 9-8 After this week vs the Jets and Steelers vs the Bears, if the Bengals can beat the Pats, you could have both BAL & PIT at 6-5 with the Bengals at 4-7. Bengals have split against the Steelers and have 2 left against the Ravens. Steelers final stretch after the Bears have the Bills, Ravens twice and the Lions. Browns and Dolphins in addition. Ravens after this week. Steelers twice. Bengals twice. Pats and Packers. Bengals staying contention not only would likely mean Burrow comes back and they beat NE.. it also means they stay in the race to make the Ravens schedule far tougher on paper than it looked a few weeks ago and potentially beat them on Thanksgiving Night … which would make them juiced up for our game, but I’d take it if it means handing NE & BAL losses. Bottom Line, if Burrow can play, he’s coming back on Sunday. They seem far out of it, but if they can win these next two games, the math changes very quickly given the PIT/BAL schedules. Hopefully we put a wrench in that equation the following week, but not before they help us out. Edited 1 hour ago by SCBills Quote
stevewin Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It is truly unbelievable that of all weeks to spit on someone Chase is suspended this week against the Pats 1 Quote

Let's not forget that their star pass rusher is out. Besides, Burrow will be rusty from doing nothing for so long. I think NE winning the division is a forgone conclusion this year, and how sucky that sounds...they might just get home field too. Quote
