Im not delusional, this isnt Madden where you just plug him in there and poof Tre is a FS.  But, plenty of talented CB's have made a successful transition to S late in their careers where there explosion has waned but still have good instincts and ball skills.  Tre has that, he has the IQ, etc to potentially make a successful transition.  I am not saying just move him, but why not try and get him some reps in practice and see how it goes, could be a better combo come playoff time.

That's the only thing for me, I agree with the rest. But I'm also excited to see more of Hancock. I don't think people realize that Hancock has a 6'4" wingspan.

@HappyDays - I wonder why Carl Jones said Max wasn't targeted in his little blurb about his video clip when he was clearly thrown at 2 times? (both incomplete)

I like the way Hairston wildly celebrates every incomplete pass for any reason, often punctuating the celebration with the referee hands-crossed-hands-wide hand signal for “pass incomplete”.  It’s exactly what I do at home watching the game.

The first one didn't count on the stat sheet because of the penalty. The second one I'm guessing they officially recorded it as a throwaway? Even official stats can be subjective like that.

Yeah I am too, this was more of a just in case which is why I was like just try it out in practice some in case we are still a dumpster fire on the back end as we get closer to playoffs.

Tackling was the major concern about him when drafted.  Though it is the smallest of sample sizes, I did find it encouraging that Hairston had the best tackle that anyone in the back 7 has seemingly had in games (stuck the guy, stopped him, AND wrapped up).

I was super excited about about the Max pick. Elite speed and quickness. Elam for example was a 4.3 guy, but was not quick. That's why he was such a jersey grabber. 

Max is both, and has a great understanding of zone coverage. 

 

I've been very critical of Beane, but he seems to be correcting his draft failures on his second go round. 

 

1st go round.

OG- Cody Ford (2nd round)

Bust.

 

Rb - Moss and Singletary (meh) kind of a bust.

 

CB - Kair Elam (1st round)

Bust.

 

 

2nd go round

OG - Cybo (2nd round) really good pick. Above average day 1 starter.

 

RB - Cook (2nd round) homerun. Top 5 back.

 

CB - Mad Max. (1st 

rounder) Too early to call, but based off 1st impression, already better than anything we ever saw from Elam. I think this kid will be Beanes 3rd homerun. 4th if we were to count Walker, but I'm not including dline yet.

This rep shows exactly why Max should be on the field 100% of the time. He plays his zone, then sees the crossing route headed his way & gets there before it becomes a problem. Too many of our DBs/LBs are content to stay home in the middle of their zone, then too slow to react to routes coming their way until the ball is already caught.

 

If that was Tre in coverage, that's a TD on the crosser.

That tackle to stop Dowdle that ultimately led to a turnover was what we’ve been missing. 
 

More often than not this season that has been a broken tackle or a complete miss by the defender.

I remain utterly confused about the role Bishop is supposed to be playing in this defense. And there are many plays where he appears to be confused as well.

I got no issues with Hancock and Bishop taking their lumps and growing in to a SS and FS tandem for years to come.

Yes, I believe he got an injection in the shoulder to limit pain and it got infected causing him to miss a lot of time.  Not the type of thing you worry about moving forward.  Knee sprain does not appear to fit in the chronic category.  

 

With his frame, injury is a natural concern but its football.
