I'm not shooting from the hip here. I was in favor after the AFCCG last season.
 

McDermott has quite simply taken this team as far as he can. Kudos for ending the drought and getting the ship steady. But this is as far as he can go.

His defense is even worse through 6 games and his only response is to get even more of the old band back together. He refuses to accept that his core D philosophy of small, slow, & injury-prone can't get the job done.

The absolute inability to develop ANYthing on the DL despite so many resources and tons of 💸 spent and we still only get the odd coverage sack? Unforgivable.

Having Josh Allen would attract THE best of the best HC & staff to come here.

He should have been gone after 13 seconds. Good guy but the Bills are spinning their wheels and wasting Josh Allan’s prime years under McDermott. He’s committed all resources to the defense and they are worse than ever. McDermott is never going to win a Super Bowl. He is way too cautious and scared.

And I feel like the team is giving up on the coaching staff.

 

I've never seen worse situational play calling. The coordinators are cooked and McDermott is the head of the snake.

 

And as you mentioned Beane, outside of drafting Allen, has been really bad. So many drafts we've gotten no impact players from, and he has re-signed players we should never have paid.

 

And that's without even complaining about letting great guys like Wyatt Teller, Harrison Phillips, or Poona Ford go and then spending draft capital to replace them.

If I'm Pegula I tell McDermott TONIGHT that Babich is fired first thing in the morning and McDermott is taking over the defense and I MUST see improvement. If McDermott protests I tell him I'm making this decision for him so I dont have to make a decision on him right now. But that decision will depend on how much the defense improves and how far we go in the playoffs.

 

Perfect time to make the change going into the bye week. McD's last chance.

When you have Andreesen, Poyer, Cam Lewis and Javon Solomon all out there on the field at the same time, it's hard to point at the DC and say "there's your problem".

Doesnt seem to matter who is out there when practically the entire team is showing up unprepared, undisciplined, and unmotivated.

Guys.  He was given a shovel when breaking ground for the new stadium.  He's not going anywhere unless Allen himself demands it or some other unforeseen circumstance.  My stance is still the same.  If they come up short in the playoffs again because of the defense then yes.  He and Beane should be fired.  You can't keep spinning your wheels.

Idk who is more to blame, McDermott or Beane. This roster outside of Allen, Cook and the offensive line is filled with a bunch of JAGs or worse. At this point I think I’d actually take a defense full of JAGs vs what the Bills have.

- LBs are mediocre with no depth 

- Zero speed off the edge

- FSs are mediocre 

 

Offense- QB is Great, Great Oline, RB is great.

 

WRs are not working. Nobody can separate. 
 

Its going to be hard to beat legit Super Bowl contenders.

If it came down to Beane or McDermott I would say Beane must go. The issues are entirely on drafting only defensive players.

Beane and McDermott both should be gone. If Beane was going to get another chance, he should’ve done his job and found a new coach when McDermott couldn’t get it done with homefield vs KC. That should’ve been the last reasonable chance for him to get to the dance. 
 

The rest of the league is clearly catching up, McDermott’s brand of ball is not going to get it done. Beane’s drafts have largely been mediocre/bad. 
 

The answer is just languishing down there in North Carolina. Defense wouldn’t be a liability with him running the show. I also can’t think of anybody who would be more motivated or more qualified to go win atleast one more Super Bowl.
