BillsFanForever19 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Players on IR now are as follows: CB Maxwell Hairston (IR to Return) DT T.J. Sanders CB Dorian Strong K Tyler Bass S Damar Hamlin OT Tylan Grable (IR to Return) P Cameron Johnston DT Dewayne Carter (Ineligible to Return) Sanders going down really stinks. Between Hairston (who we hopefully get back soon), Sanders, and Strong our Defensive focused Draft class has been decimated by injuries. Thankfully we should have Ed Oliver back and Ogunjobi after this week to replace him. But ideally, we had all 3 cycling the 3T spot. Sanders needed surgery to repair his knee. McDermott wouldn't completely rule out Sanders possibly returning at some point late in the season. But I'm not holding my breath. Though he seemed to indicate it's unlikely for Hamlin. We currently have 2 open roster spots, on top of players like Sam Franklin Jr. and Jimmy Ciarlo who were signed to the roster from the Practice Squad. So all that effort people put into racking their brains on how we'd fit Maxwell Hairston, Michael Hoecht, and Larry Ogunjobi was for naught, as moving all 3 on to the Roster can easily be done without having to move on from anyone the initial 53. Though given the reasoning for that, it's not something you like to see. Edited 42 minutes ago by BillsFanForever19 2 Quote

Barring injuries to someone else...my guess is Codrington is a goner still or possibly Milano ends up on IR. Edited 4 hours ago by BuffaloBillyG 2 Quote

Pecker Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I’m amusing the bills are bending the rules a bit and using IR for the extra roster spots, otherwise they would have IRed Sanders earlier and brought back Hairston earlier. fwiw, and this isn’t reliable, but I’m hearing that Strong likely needs vertebrae fused and could be a career ending injury. 2 1 Quote
MasterStrategist Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I think Sanders will be back. If a torn meniscus, which seems possible with the team giving him a week to see how it responded- then somewhere in the 6 week range and he will be back. Maybe for Bengals game. Need Ed to stay healthy period. Him, Bosa, Groot are our key cogs. Then Walker contiuned improvement anf AJ, Hoecht. Oji is a wildcard if he produces much, his tank was looking empty with Steelers LY. Our defense needs Ed, Bosa, Groot, Bernard and Benford to start performing to their potential. 1 1 Quote

EmotionallyUnstable Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago We are so thin in the secondary, especially considering the dialogue around the roster depth during TC. 1 Quote

Bills!Win! Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago IR used to mean a player was out for the season. I heard now it means the player will be out longer than 4 games? I’m uncertain of what the rules are Quote

I don't think there's any bending of the rules here. Sanders was fully going until last week when it was reported he had a knee injury and now he had to get surgery. I highly doubt they're choosing to get unnecessary surgery on their high 2nd Round Pick and voluntarily upending his development just to fit Larry Ogunjobi on the roster. As for Hairston, they're clearly being overly cautious with him. They don't want to give him a full load, even in practice until he's fully healthy. 2 Quote

I’m uncertain of what the rules are Teams have 8 slots to IR a player and bring them back after a minimum of 4 weeks out. Once the 4 weeks or anytime thereafter, are up they can open a 21 day practice window to get the player back on the roster. If that doesnt happen within the 21 days, the player will be out for the remainder of the season. I hope that makes sense Quote

DeepPass Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago how the Hell did Hamlin get hurt? He plays sparingly so I wonder if this is to allow the Bills to sign a GOOD SAFETY via a trade?? Quote
