SCBills Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Do we have a guy who can get a bucket? Not sure yet. Do we have a guy who can take the top off? Not sure yet. And people in this thread can pretend it’s not a big deal, but it was an issue in the KC playoff game last year. It’s popped up in playoff games prior. It’s glossed over because of how bad the defense has been in those games, but it’s been an issue and this question hasn’t been solved to this point. 2 Quote

I think it's a combination of the receivers not creating enough separation, and Joe Brady not doing a good enough job of scheming them open. (Example, more play action on 1st downs) What do you guys think? I think that our offense is trying to add more wrinkles other than Josh playing hero ball 24/7. It will bear fruit in the future.. 3 Quote

It is similar to last season where it was successful and after 3 games this season we're 3 - 0 averaging 34 PPG. I live in Cincinnati and saw a much more explosive offense not make the playoffs the last 2 seasons. I'll take Brady ball any day of the week. 4 2 Quote

I think they want a slow safe game where they can take no risk and try to control the clock. sometimes it works...sometimes u have to rely on luck at the end of the game. That might be true against Kansas City and Patrick mahomes because you're trying to not give a future Hall of famer too many attempts Against the dolphins I don't think they're worried about how many possessions they're getting.. Josh could have turned it on at any point in this game I have no doubt The bills aren't opening up the passing game until it's forced... They're going to be content all year playing three phase football... There will be a time when Josh throws 40 times and it won't be good for the opponent 5 Quote

It doesn't dispute my statement, it just went over your head 1 1 Quote

That’s remarkable consistency through 3 games. No doubt the plan is to score 30 or more, and allow 20 or less. Bills have the talent and coaching to execute on that most weeks The Bills have scored TD's on each of their opening drives in the last 3 games. And had the D got off the filed on either the 3rd & 12 or 3rd & 10 late in the 2nd quarter the Bills likely would have scored points before the half giving them the desired double dip. 1 Quote

If you are walking down the field, no need to risk turnover, injury or sack in the second half on a few plays where we needed the shot - it wasn’t happening and it seemed to be perimeter skill, not play call in those moments. As soon as they started run blitzing us we didn't have any answers and I don't think it's because we were playing with our food, it's because we don't have the pass catching talent outside to make them pay for selling out. It's going to continue to be a problem this year and we'll just have to do our best to hide it as much as we can. 4 6 Quote

Against a very bad secondary. Thats the point. it’s nit picky tonight. It may be the difference in us taking the trophy home later though. 1 Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 (edited) They act as if we have Jared Goff as a QB, we could go up 21 points and make teams 1 dimensional but we have a bunch of conservative coaches and it's quite frustrating. We won a miracle game week 1 , we faced Fields in week 2 and it took a roughing the kicker call to turn this game around for us. So far I've been underwhelmed with coaching on both sides of the ball and if we play like this in the playoffs we won't make it to yet another SB. wppete Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I like Shavers but when Gabe Davis is healthy he is an upgrade over Shavers and would really help this offense ad WR#5. He needs to be on this roster. 2 1 Quote

Maybe if they give him some of Colemans and/or Palmers snaps his speed could help open things up. I would hope, as the season progresses and Moore's play continues, he will. 2 Quote

I agree to a point. We don't have that WR that makes the deep shot a high probability play. But I also think they're fanatically devoted to their plan. 1 Quote

There is no problem with the passing attack or the offense in general. They are remarkably balanced and it will be tough for any D to hold them to less then 30 points. The problem remains what it was last season - the inability of the defense to get off the field at critical moments of the game and the continual giving up 1st downs on 3rd and long. maye put up 230 yards on 23 attempts. Allen was fairly accurate but i wouldnt call it masterful. most of the passes werent much different than a running play depth wise. 1 Quote
Scott7975 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 54 minutes ago, GunnerBill said: Yes. I don't think these receivers can get open down the field on the outside. They are scheming around that weakness pretty well and while they didn't call many deep shots today (think just two) the ones they did Josh came off - even with time - and went underneath. That tells you there was nothing open. Hate to say it but Gabe Davis might be our only answer to this problem this season. Not a big fan of Gabe because I think his route tree is limited, I think he is not on the same page as Josh, and I think he drops too many balls. He did however get open downfield when he last played for us. I also think its partially an offensive philosophy thing, but I agree our receivers are struggling to get open. Quote
In Summary Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Kincaid led all pass catchers tonight. Coleman's contribution little different than that of Shavers. Shakir is still the best actual receiver. No receiver is being featured in the pre-game hype show. Everybody eats is so 2024. That Allen doesn't have his Butler/Lewis/Reed/Lofton/Moulds/ etc. is a shame. 2 1 1 Quote
