Doc Brown Posted September 3 Posted September 3 The '91 home opener where we came back against the Fish. Kelly battling through an ankle injury and Reich throwing a td to the touchdown merchant Butch Rolle. 1 Quote

Pretty much nobody thought the Bills were going to win before that day. The Bears were predicted to be really strong at the start of the season. The game started 7-0 Bears and I thought it was a nice day out…. I’ll take a walk/jog instead of getting aggravated. Very much to my surprise the Bills were up 17-14 when I put the game in again in the second half. Then in overtime that epic run by Freddie where he stif armed than defender Forte to get it to the goal line. Very pleased that day…. Was the first time too the Bills won in Chicago. That was a good one. The day after news had broken of the Pegula takeover as well I believe. I also liked 2019. @Jets. Coming off 2018 rookie years Allen v Darnold. Darnold was the big favourite but Allen came out throwing only for Beasley to give them an pick 6 off his hands and we were down 16-3 going into the 4th. Josh led two 80 yard 4th Quarter drives to bring us back with the long winning touchdown pass down the left touchline to John Brown. Was the first day for me personally I thought "we have ourselves a quarterback." 1 Quote

That's my vote. It's the only time I've ever been on an NFL field. I didn't participate in the goal post coming down, but I was at the game with someone who wanted to take pictures from the field. My 2nd favorite is a game the Bills got destroyed in. Opening day in Baltimore in a rainstorm, 9/9/18. I got to see Josh Allen's official debut as an NFL QB. As a bonus I also saw Lamar Jackson's 1st game. The Bills lost 47-3, but from the moment Josh Allen entered the game in the 3rd quarter, I had hope for better things in the future. It was the 1st time I ever told anyone that Josh would end up in the Hall of Fame. A Jets fan on the bus was mocking Josh's accuracy, and I told him that Josh was better than Sam Darnold and that Josh would be a Hall of Famer. He just laughed at me, but as the years go by, I wonder if he remembers my prediction. Quote
boyst Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I remember driving up for the chargers game getting there at like 3:00 a.m. with my now wife. It was miserably hot, we got our ass kicked, and maybe only Levi knows why I kept making fun of my wife about Rivers. Lol Quote

Unfortunately, this game is a perfect example of why season openers should sometimes be taken with a grain of salt. Weird things happen, not up to speed etc. Dad thought something special was about to happen after this game. And it did...for New England. Quote

TheBrownBear Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Absolutely the 89 game against the Dolphins. That was when I officially knew we were in for a special run. 1 Quote

Coming off the loss to Cincy in the '88 AFCCG I was sure the Bills had finally arrived. I was right. The other game is the 2003 trouncing of the Pats after the Lawyer signing. After years of suffering at the hands of the Pats I had thought to Bills had closed the gap and had finally arrived. I was wrong. The ‘89 game deserves more love! 1 1 Quote
skibum Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Hard to top 2003. A shame that season didn't play out so well, but things felt awfully good on Sept. 7th. That was one of the most satisfying wins in franchise history, let alone on opening day. 1 Quote

folz Posted September 8 Posted September 8 How about that Sunday night opener of the 2025 season (the last opener in Rich/Ralph Wilson/The Ralph/New Era/Highmark Stadium). Remember how crazy that was. Down 40-25 with seven minutes to go in the 4th quarter. And with a Derrick Henry fumble caused by Ed Oliver, Josh led an amazing comeback to win 41-40, on a last second, run-on/run-off field goal by Matt Prater. One of the opening day classics for the Bills. 😉 1 Quote
