I do think Vrabel very much knows what he is doing and how he wants to build that team out, even though I can’t stand him. Was pissed he ended up in NE. I think he will right the ship there unfortunately.

I'm right there with you.  I think he's a lunkhead, but he's a solid coach.

He was totally done wrong by his GM's player personnel moves (example: trading AJ Brown to Philly, who  helped carry them to the SB)

I’ll give Vrabel and Wolf this, they are cleaning house on guys that don’t fit what Vrabel wants or expects. We’ll see how it plays out and whether it backfires or not

Put me in the group that expects the Pats* to be a middling team for 3 more years

I think he's a bit overrated.  He'll be a good culture guy there, but as a coach, I think he's kind of middlin'.  He benefitted greatly when the Titans had those good years from having excellent coordinators, and Tannehill playing the best football of his life.

i honestly hope he does something with his career.

He seems to be regarded as a Strong Safety, meaning better playing in the box and against the run

Poyer was a bit of a free safety before he came here; i think rapp has some ability to play the role of a free safety in a nickel package because the way our defense works.

either way, i am curious to bring him in because he betters the roster.

A lot of Patriots fans are comparing it to the Lawyer Milloy release right before the start of the season.  They seem baffled by it.  He's obviously not as good as Milloy but he's not damaged goods either.

Most seem pretty upset by this move. Sounds like he's a good leader, also.

I hope Beane is at least considering this.  We need an upgrade in that unit.

He isn't really a safety. He is a hybrid. Decent run player, good instincts, liability in coverage.

Sounds like every safety we already have.

I'm a little fuzzy on the rules here.  If a team offered him a new multi year contract would the Patriots still be on the hook for all the guaranteed money they owe him?  Basically, could Peppers double dip?

Not sure how a multi year contract would work but I'd be surprised if he got more than 1 year from anyone right now.

Pats owe him $4.3M so because of offset language in his contract no matter what his new team pays him, Pats are responsible for the difference up to $4.3M. Unless some team offers him $4.5M or more which I don't think is likely, the new team has no incentive to pay more than the vet minimum and Peppers has no incentive to decline it.

Oh hey another box safety who’s almost a linebacker

If we could get another slot WR as well, we’ll have the market cornered at not one but two positions!

What do you think is a HC job in the NFL? They aren’t CEOs anymore. They’re incredibly hands on with the game plans

There is always a reason why they are released. Like finding a couch on the curb then getting bed bugs.
