When we first signed Forrest, I thought he'd make the squad though camp reports later made me reconsider.

And I thought Shenault had a shot as a returner because he offered more skill as a wideout than Codrington offered as a DB.

But none of the cuts were a real surprise.

Codrington may have been purely based on the lack of CB depth we have at the moment, but Shenault was a surprise to me, I thought he would have taken over as our returner

My gripe is not about a cut but rather one we kept. With Hawes being such a good blocker do we really need to waste a roster sport on Gillam. Many teams don't keep a FB anymore, I would train that kid up for the lead blocker role and then *poof* TE3/FB is one position and we have another roster spot for DE depth (especially after week 6 suspensions are lifted).

Very fair point.

Whey I understand…

I think they want him to focus on being a pass catching TE replacing Knox next yr saving cap space.

Fascinating.  Now Davis will sue DC Studios for copying his mop, and the settlement will help the always cash poor Raiders.  (Commitment to Excellence, dontcha know...)

Little peeved they cut Mike White. We easily could have started White and got a 3rd and 6th for Josh and a 7th.

Seriously, I don't really care. I just want to watch some real football and its finally almost here.

Davidson and Hamler.

Totally understood their releases however.

One of the two will be in the PS if they can’t join any of the other 31 53-man roster.

There weren't any cuts I didn't like or thought were surprising. It was pretty much as expected.

What did surprise me a little bit is that not a single player from the veteran pool of QB Mike White, WR K.J. Hamler, WR Laviska Shenault, TE Zach Davidson, OT Richard Gouraige, LB Edefuan Olofoshio, or S Darrick Forrest were brought back on the Practice Squad.

I thought there were multiple people from that list, if not most, would be back on the Squad. Not a single one was a bit of a shock.

Not surprised they were cut am a bit surprised Shenault, Davidson, & Mike Edwards didn't make the PS.

But do think the injuries to White and Hairston plus the suspensions which caused them to sign Phillips and Bishops injury and somewhat underwhelming camp causing them to sign Poyer took away some spots on the PS

I bought into the wee bit of hype around Wande Owens - I was sad to see he didn't make the PS. He apparently got an injury settlement, so maybe there's some kind of maneuver going on there that I don't understand. Or maybe they just wanted to kick him a few bucks for his troubles.
