Bills Initial Roster - No real surprises

The only semi surprise was Ingram making the roster, but even that isn’t much of a surprise.

 

I’d say Ingram, Van Denmark, Solomon and Carter are the first players gone when the IR and suspended players return (depending on position).

Not a surprise at all. We've got 1 CB near the top of the Depth Chart on IR (to return) and another that is no guarantee to start Week 1.

 

If anything, it was a little bit of a (pleasant) surprise that we didn't keep Ingram and Jackson. Says to me they don't expect White to miss much time, if at all.

I'm surprised Beane didn't pull off a trade moving some of our OL depth.

Codrington as dedicated returner is interesting at least, but based on preseason reps was fairly clear.

I think a general rule of thumb is you do not trade line depth unless you’re going to cut them. 
 

Generally not a position you can fix in-season at the trade deadline.

He didn’t have  to.  We didn’t cut anyone of worth.  Wait for a couple injuries league wide. 
 

Hes on the clock though.  Barring injury, he’s gonna need 2 spots in 4 weeks and another 2 in 6 weeks .

So just like I say every year….the entire process is whole lot of energy and time expended over next to nothing. I really have to wonder when the NFL will do away with the entire farce that the preseason has become.

I think Gable not being ready stops that from happening.  No reason to trade a guy who makes the team for late day 3 picks when trying to win a chip. This goes for the Wrs too.  Why trade Samuel.  Keep all 3.  Week 4-6 the Bills at some depth.  I like it.  Couple preseason heros still in the cards for PS

I didn't think he looked all that bad for a rookie when he got some snaps last year.

I love that Jackson Hawes made the 53.

It feels like that's a really good sign for him going forward.

Honestly my biggest surprise is both Shavers and Moore. I know they have very different skill set but I thought it would be one or the other

Honestly I think his ST chops get him a jersey on game day. If all WRs are healthy it's Moore I question being active on game day.

When he came out of college, one of the draft experts (can't recall which one) described him as the best ST gunner he had ever seen at the collegiate level.

Agreed on both points. Ingram is the Shavers of corners, he gets better every year.

With Shakir and Samuel being hurt he has a shot especially with his strong ST could see him getting a few games.
