Yes, this is not news. He has been injured for most of preseason. Some said on WGR week ago that he won't play the first game and maybe first 2 weeks.

Look for Moore in the slot with Coleman and Palmer outside. Big game from Kincaid too.

But if our CB's are Strong and who knows, then we have a problem. They will eat us alive. ONLY hope is our D line has the game of the century. Go Bosa and Groot! LB's have to be stout.

Its Ingram and Strong's chance to shine.  Strong played DB at Va Tech and was supposedly pretty dam good.  I know its a step up playing at the NFL level.  But its still football.  Cover the WR, and make a play on the ball when its thrown to the man you are covering or in your zone.  I think the Bills' scheme is just very difficult for rookies on defense to understand.  And that just seems the opposite of how things should be.  Make it easy for the rookies so they can get up to speed as quickly as possible, and let their athletic abilities take over.

False - Bateman has two options on that route, carry it upfield if the Safety isn't supporting, or cut to the corner early to undercut the safety coverage up top.  Bateman ran the correct route actually, he cut to the sideline to create corner separation and allow for a potential throw under the safety.  That takes the Safety out of the play and leaves Lamar to throw the boundary sideline throw that either Bateman catches or falls incomplete.

Lamar didn't detect the safety help over the top, and floated a ball as if Bateman was running a heads down heater downfield.  He completely misread the route.  This wasn't 3rd and long too, he simply made the wrong read, sailed a throw he shouldn't have made, and Rapp has the easy INT.

Bateman did what he was supposed to, Lamar didn't.

EDIT:  Watch the play from the Safety view too - Lamar drops back, clean pocket, and STARES down Bateman the entire way.  He doesn't try at all to nudge the safety off the route.  He plants, and floats a ball that should've been to the sideline and leaves it 7 yards inside, against single high safety play covering that side of the field.  Rapp starts the play on the near hashmarks...  It's a bad bad play by Lamar

From Lamar:

"We're a team," Jackson said. "First half, I had two costly turnovers. Me not holding the safety, me just knowing the coverage, me knowing it was man. Threw a B.S. interception.”

he said clearly he didn’t hold the safety and then threw a bad ball for the INT.

Also Lamar:  *slams the ball to the turf and not throwing the pass*  "that's how I threw that B.S. interception in the playoffs." With the caption the wr ran the wrong route.

Lamar is never going to throw his guys under the bus in the media.  He umprompted came to Andrews defense l.  He'll always take the heat off his teammates

Strong looked like NFL was a step up too far in preseason. Had real trouble dealing with NFL WR's quickness and suddenness in and out of breaks. Maybe not overwhelmed like Codrington or Jackson but certainly whelmed.

Both Bateman and Lamar said he ran the wrong route.  But we'll believe you.

Imagine coming up another team’s forum and whining that they don’t believe you and refuse to take your garbage ramblings seriously. Go away.

Agree but game script was so important including last years playoff win that there is some reason to try and take the lead and get them out of running the ball.

I would love a pass-heavy scheme.  I worry about getting pounded with gap runs that slice up our penetrating DTs.  I think its a pass heavy game Josh and Co. will edge out a good passing game from Lamar.

Aren’t NFL defenses typically ahead of offenses in week 1 ? I would definitely defer, but I get your point. Scoring on opening drive immediately puts pressure on the other team. At the same time, stopping said team from scoring puts pressure on them as well. I guess it’s more of a personal choice than any right answer.

So either the WR ran the wrong route and Lamar wouldn't own the mistake, as Allen would have (because that's what leaders do) or Lamar made a bad read. Sounds like two different looks that aren't that great for your boy.

We are screwed no matter how you look at it.  Even if White and Benford play what is their durability. Offense will need to score 38 or over to win.

It only hit him in thebhand because the TE made a miraculous play to come back to an underthrown ball.

Wait Josh pass was a perfect pass event though the TE had to come back to an underthrown ball however Lamar Jackson's pass was "not perfectly thrown" even though it hit Andrews in the stomach? This is wicked work.

How am I a troll all I'm doing is defending my guy just as you guys are defending your guy.

I do think he will be way more than a nothing burger.  I think he'll be one of the 3 CBs on the field in crunch time.  He's energy has been infectious amd he's actually played some good CB in practice.  I think the Ravens are playing the long game with Alexander.  If his knee was as bad as some think they would have kept Jalen Armour Davis.  JAD had a great camp and multiple team out in a waiver claim for him.

Make up your mind.  Is he a key piece or not?  By the way, coming to an opposing team’s fan website to pick arguments with those fans is the very definition of troll.  This is the last food you will get from me.

Ive seen the play.  He didnt throw it right to Rapp, Rapp came from across the field to to kntercept the pass.  Had Bateman ran the correct route he woukd have been there with Rapp and not have v Rapp there by himself.

I googled "bateman wrong route bills playoffs" and AI says he didnt agree (Balitmore Sun paywall for the link, though he says he didnt run the wrong route in the by line).  So its the opposite of what you said.  Neither say he ran the wrong route.

I thought you made good points too but thought i would throw the game scrip aspect in since it was one of the biggest differences between the regular season and playoffs (we werent a great come from behind team last year)

So, if it's worst case and both Benford & White are out - are we talking Ingram & Strong as the starters on Sunday?

Yes, with Dane getting a call up I assume. (Not sure the timeline for call ups though tbh)

I have us losing this game. Our defense is just....terrible.

Win or lose, let's have Josh Allen healthy after the game lol.

From what I have seen / read, no one really knows what our defense is, McDermott and his new defensive hires have cleverly shown nothing, a guy gets a hangnail this preseason and he gets shut down, lots of misdirection going on at OBD, me, not worried in the slightest, the Ravens with all their sh/t talking about “revenge” have put the pressure on themselves to not f-ck up yet again playing the Bills, we got this!!

GO BILLS!!!

Well, he took the heat he should have taken for that interception, because he didn't look off the safety and then threw a ball that 100000% should have gone right to the sideline to create as much distance for the safety to cover EVEN IF Bateman runs the same route Lamar thinks he is.  However, he threw the ball 7 yards inside the field of play, and Rapp easily came under and intercepted it.

If you want to say Bateman ran the wrong route, that's fine.  Lamar threw not only the wrong ball in that play, but a bad ball to boot.  You dont throw a go ball against man coverage single high 7 yards from the sideline.  You throw it tight to the sideline for only your receiver to have a chance at it.

My hope is for Allen to not break his hand like the first game of last season. That was basically never brought up when the MVP arguments were flying. Remember the weird glove? He had that for like half the season.

He also got crushed and died vs the Ravens and Texans (the Ravens one not really being his fault because it was a busted trick play).
