Tre White injury update

If he got an MRI and they haven't figured out a prognosis yet, my GUESS is a partial ACL tear (grade 1 or 2 sprain). It can be very difficult to judge the severity of them from an MRI, and sometimes you have to wait for the swelling to go down to do more mechanical-type testing. MCL and LCL injuries are typically more definitive right away. I guess it could also be a PCL, but those are rare. Whatever, I just hope it's not bad.

Obviously Hairston getting hurt messes everything up. But he wasnt even beating out White in camp. Safety and CB is an absolute disaster right now. It’s not alarmist when it is true. Bills are possibly going to start two guys in White and Hamlin that wouldnt even make most NFL rosters.

Tre White is slow and looks and plays a whole lot older than 30.  There was just no reason to bring him back this season. 
 

He will keep getting injured or burned if he does ever suit up again. 
 

At least Bishop looked better last night. 
 

And Walker is going to be a beast at DT. 

 

#35 Cialo moves and reacts better than Buffalo Joe.  And is a demon on ST.   He should make the final 53. He is Tyler Matekevich w some ability to play LB too.

Like I said. I get why he said it like he did. But he could have actually said something along the line of "We have a good idea where Tre is at right now. We will announce the details at another time." Saying they are "still waiting on results" is what makes it weird

I had to get an MRI not long ago and the results were done an reported to me in about an hour. And that was at a busy hospital.

 

The team takes their own MRI, with their own doctors in house and can't get the results in a week? What is this, 1965?

 

I get why he isn't giving info, but if they want me to believe a billion dollar franchise with in house medical staff can't get results almost on the spot....that's just insulting our intelligence.

Yep, just had an MRI done in David, Panama and my doctor evaluated and responded via email in under an hour. Bills are still waiting days later?

Wishing Tre the best, obviously, from a personal standpoint he doesn’t deserve another major injury. But is it bad for me to maybe hope that either he’s good to go for week 1, or it’s something we can IR him for? I’m not convinced the drop off from Tre to Dane Jackson is that large, and if it’s a minor thing that just has him out for a few weeks that makes getting everyone on the 53 tough with how many corners we’d have to keep. In any case I think what we really need for this unit to have any upside is for Hairston to take the reigns by mid-season and get ramped up for the playoffs

I disagree with those who argue Beane did enough at cornerback by drafting one in the first and fifth round and signing White and Jackson. The draft picks were unlikely to be ready to start, and while both White and Jackson both know the system, neither are starting quality. And that's quite aside from the prospect of injuries. Realistically, the best-case scenario was White doing an adequate job while Hairston and Strong developed. But hanging the season on a 30-year old coming off serious injuries does not (and did not) sound very prudent. It's not like Beane didn't have money to spend, when you consider the contracts for Hoecht and Ogonjobi. I think Hoecht was a good signing, even with the suspension. But even if Obiwan were performing great, which he isn't, it would have been smarter to put that money into the secondary. 

 

It looks like 2023 all over again, when Beane had to give up a third-round pick for a cornerback who hit the wall the following year. Let's hope the Bills can muddle along until Hairston is ready--and that he plays well.

Yeah, we’ve been over this before. You and the “Super Bowl or failure” crowd are a lot of fun. 
 

There are a bunch of us who are really enjoying this age of Bills relevance and a really fun (and good) team to watch. 
 

Believe it or not, 364 days of the year there is no Super Bowl!

We only have one lifetime... most of us have been around long enough to see great seasons of football.  Enjoy the games. Nobody is taking that away from you. But without a SuperBowl win with the best QB in the league its a failed season.

I think it’s fair to question Beane’s strategy with bringing Dane, Tre and Hamlin back. I get Tre from a mentorship perspective but right now S and CB are concerns as the overall quality of the CB/S roster is average compared to other teams. If not for Benford, it would be below average. I worry we continue to not add higher caliber players and it becomes even more critical in the playoffs when you need players on both sides of the ball to make a game changing play.

You cannot count on White to play any significant snaps, he’s a liability at this point because of his body. Why not just move on?

 The issue is the secondary as a whole.

 

This is easy to absorb with Benford, Poyer, Hyde, Taron.

 

Outside of this magnifying our issues on the boundary, a decent option alongside Rapp would make this all the more palatable.

 

This secondary made Levi Wallace, Dane Jackson, and Damar Hamlin look servicable when they only needed to sub one piece.

Tre diagnosis is very simple - Beane is playing games around cut down day. If they’re trying to trade for a CB or sign one that is cut, it’s to no advantage to announce Tre’s true injury
